“Erin was wonderful with our cat Bella, who can be a little wary of new people. She got Bella to come out everyday and sent us fantastic pictures. I highly recommend Erin to anyone looking for a friendly, reliable pet-sitter. We are so, so grateful for the peace of mind she gave us while we were away!”

“Maddie is awesome! We love her and more than recommend her!!! She's responsible, thoughtful and loves our dogs, all 5! We have 5 dogs with all different personalities and she has managed to win over all 5! Thank you so very much, Maddie!”

“Sarah was simply amazing!!! I can't say enough good things about her. She truly cared for our two kitties while we were away as if they were her own. It's so freeing to feel able to travel again knowing we have such a caring, reliable sitter. Will absolutely use Sarah's services again!”

About: I’ve got 20+ years of cats, kittens, puppies, adult dogs, senior, behavioral dogs, working dogs, etc. I did some personal training on my rescue dog that I got 6 years ago as well as my golden retriever I got as a puppy at 8 weeks old. I currently work 4 days a week as an MRI tech and looking for side work that I’ll love! I can do drop in visits on my off days and potentially evenings after work during the week but shoot me a message and we can work out availability :) I live in a very secluded private area so I don’t ever have to worry about dogs wandering off and I’m always cautious of where they are at all times but of course they can be leashed depending on needs!
“Maddie is super nice and super helpful, she sent nice pics and kept us up to date on how Percy was tolerating the heat and activity. Percy definitely enjoyed his time in Maddie’s care.”
About: I have taken care of and interacted with many breeds and mixes of dogs, both my own and friends. Have taken care of multiple of cats and even interacted and helped care for several family ferrets. I currently work 3 overnights at a local hospital and am looking to spend some of my free time helping and interacting with local pets and pet parents in need of services, during the afternoons or nights on thur, fri, sat and Sundays. I work most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday therefor am not available on those days. I love and enjoy working with animals when I can outside of my healthcare career working with people. Having several pets of my own, as well as family companions, we take care of all their needs regarding food, play and exercise. Our own dogs spend multiple hours of the day playing inside and outside with each as well as with the people in our home. All pets are well taken care of and has their individual needs met. Their health and happiness is our privilege and priority.
About: I've always loved animals, particularly dogs. Animals respond well to me, and I have cared for many over the years. I treat every animal as if they are my own! Ever met that person who just randomly pulls over on the street to say hi to your pup? THAT'S ME! I work full time in the healthcare field, but can often modify my schedule. I routinely travel between Oakland and Gardiner ME for work, so traveling is not an issue. I like to be on the go! I also work part time with Animal Control in Sidney. Due to my other commitments, I do require that all of my furry clients be able to be left alone for at least 8 hours. Exceptions can be made for clients in my immediate vicinity, or if my schedule allows. Your wish is my command! Whatever you need simply ask! Whatever I can do to ease your mind and comfort your pet in your absence, i will do!
About: I grew up with dogs around, specifically a Boxer and Boston terrier. I now have three cats of my own! I have done it all from walks to ear cleaning to baths to fetch to administering medications and inhaler treatments - I can do whatever is needed! I work full time with crazy hours! You tell me what times and days are needed, I can try to work it in somehow. Some days I am out at 11pm, others 3pm, it all depends. I will always have two days off a week and can do more for you those days. I can pick on animal cues pretty easily, as I have had non-dog friendly dogs growing up. Patience is something I pride myself on with animals and making sure they feel safe in their environment, as I’m just the visitor.
“Carla provided exceptional care for our cat during our 2-week trip. Communication was excellent and the daily photos of our cat assured us that all was well. Our cat is very emotionally expressive and she looked 100% happy to be in Carla's lap. We will definitely hire Carla again the next time we need a sitter.”

About: I provide compassionate care to all sorts of pets, ranging from dogs, cats, and other small critters. As a pet owner who has had all sorts of animals, I understand how difficult it could be to find a reliable pet sitter for your furry family members while you’re away, so I like to highlight my experience beyond our canine and feline friends 😊 I have volunteer experience providing foster homes for cats and kittens awaiting adoption. This included providing oral medication. My own rats have had to undergo tumor removal surgery, so I have experience providing post-op care with rats. I have provided Rover/pet sitting services in Colorado Springs and Los Angeles, so despite not having a lot of bookings on Rover, I come with references. Of course, I also have my own dog who keeps me on my toes while on walks and has allowed me to learn more about dog behavior and care. I was born and raised in LA, but lived in other states where I worked in a completely different field. I lived in Waterville for close to 5 years to attend college. I moved back here in April of 2026 and instead of continuing my line of work in psychology/criminal justice, I have decided to take a break from that to do what brings me joy - which is caring for animals in any way that I can. In other words, my time is all dedicated to your fur babies. I prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort once I’m with them, including the security of your home. I follow any instructions meticulously, like feeding schedules, exercise routines, medication instructions, etc., to ensure your pet’s well-being. I like to leave spaces as I have left them, if not cleaner, and ensure your pet does not have access to anything hazardous, especially if I must step away during our time together. I like to communicate with my clients daily to give them peace of mind while away from home.
About: I have dog sat many times including friends, family or even coaches. I have 3 Labs at home so I am more than prepared for any obstacle! I am very flexible and am usually always available during the week and during the weekends! I am an Athlete but will work my schedule around any conveniences! I have a big fenced yard, when my pets are outside I am outside with them just incase something were to happen. I watch my dogs when they play to make sure they don't hurt each other.
About: Hi! I’m Ashley — a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, reptiles, ferrets, and more. I’ve worked in a veterinary office and previously ran my own daycare, so I’m confident handling pets of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. I have experience with large and strong dogs, high-energy and working breeds, and multi-pet households. I’m also comfortable caring for multiple species, including exotics, and have a strong understanding of animal behavior and safety. I can recognize the difference between play, stress, and aggression, which helps keep your pets safe and comfortable at all times. Whether your pet needs exercise, structure, or calm companionship, I adjust my care to fit their personality and needs. I pride myself on being reliable, punctual, and communicative, and I always treat every pet like they’re my own. I’m happy to send photo and message updates so you always have peace of mind while you’re away. Early mornings, afternoons, Saturdays for all services. Sundays I am available for boarding only at this time — I do my best to stay flexible for my clients! I care for your pet as you would want them cared for. I love taking pictures, it's up to you if I share them with everyone or just you!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oakland. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
