“I cannot thank Michael enough for going above and beyond today for taking simba literally 6 days after surgery, keeping a close eye on him, and watching him for me so that I could too work on the holiday. He accommodated my hours, and was kind enough to spend this family holiday not only with his family but including simba as one of his own family. I can honestly say I was at ease today with Michael watching simba today and was able to focus on my work.. thank you the continued reassurance throughout the day letting me know simba was ok and the many pictures and videos I rec’d!!!! Thank you for being there for me when I truly had no one else to rely upon!!!”

“We were so lucky to find Jacquie! She was very flexible squeezing in a meet & greet with our dog who can be anxious around new people. She has a great, calm energy that immediately put our dog at ease. He loves playing with her 2 dogs and snuggling with her! She is responsive, professional and kind. Thank you Jacquie!”

“Melissa and her husband were phenomenal with Cookie and Biscuit. They loved Casper so much. They were very accommodating and were very flexible with me which was so amazing. Melissa sent me pictures and kept me updated throughout there stay. I was so happy with the service, my babies were happy and exhausted ready for bed lol!! I will most definitely be rebooking!!”

“Lee was really fantastic with August. He was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and even some videos of August which I really appreciated. Highly recommend Lee if you're in the Worcester area and I will definitely be rebooting with him next time I'm in tbr stra.”

“I think our puppy Lucy officially found her second home with Dawn and her family! Knowing we needed a sitter before even bringing our puppy home, I turned to Rover and found Dawn—and I’m so glad I did. She went above and beyond from the start, even coming over with her kids to meet Lucy beforehand. She’s truly salt of the earth, and I immediately felt at ease the moment I met her. As first-time dog parents, we had plenty of questions and requests, and Dawn was so accommodating, evening keeping us updated with the sweetest photos. I loved that on our first daycare service Lucy got to socialize with her kids and even play with another dog while she was there. On top of that, my husband has a difficult work schedule, and Dawn was incredibly flexible, which made everything so much easier. Watching a hyper puppy is no small task, but Dawn handled it with such care and patience. We are so grateful to have Dawn and her family in out circle!”

About: I've been around dogs my entire life but have owned my own dog for the past 4 years. I am constantly watching my friend's dogs while they are away and know how important it is to have someone to trust and provide a loving and caring home away from home for your pet while you are away! I currently work from home full-time, so I'll have plenty of time to walk and play with your pup! I have a highly energetic dog, so we take several walks during the day and then I take her to nearby parks with trails after work. I'm available for boarding during the week and on weekends. I have a medium sized fenced in yard and a very sweet dog to keep your fir baby company! My dog has free reign of the house and is allowed on the furniture and sleeps in my bed but can also crate your dog if needed.
About: I've taken care of dogs for as long as I can remember. I've always been a very empathetic person and just love to wave and say hi to dogs going by. I've had dogs of all sizes. My most recent is experience with Chihuahuas. I just love them! I've raised 2 dogs from 8 weeks old. I love all stages of a dogs life, from puppy to senior. I also have experience with senior dogs who need special care and medication. I'm currently working for myself, so I have plenty of time to spend playing, caring, loving and walking with your pets. I'm available M-F 9-6 pm. I like to make sure the pet is comfortable. I want the pet to feel at home with me. The least amount of change from the pets daily activities are important for the pet to feel safe and happy.
“Our new puppy had a fantastic day with Amy and her other dogs as well!! He came home happy and exhausted!! So that means we are!! Woot Woot!!”

“This is absolutely the very best place for Cody to go for loads of fun. Wouldn’t be able to find a better place if we tried every Rovers sitter!!!!! Paola and Margav are way beyond nice people which makes everything all the better.”

“Brenda was great! She helped us out a lot by caring for our two pups for 9 hours while we were away. They had a great time with her and her husband and we’ll be scheduling with her again!”

“Alexis was such a kind and patient sitter! She immediately knew how to handle Louis with him being so small and even cleaned up an accident he had indoors! Her dog and Louis got along so well and we would absolutely recommend Alexis to anyone looking for a great sitter!”

“Elizabeth did an amazing job watching our dog. She was completely understanding of his separation anxiety and knew how to put him at ease. We are so thankful that we had such a great sitter watching our dog. Thank you so much!”

About: Hello! I’ve been professionally caring for animals since I was 12 years old and got my first dog sitting gig. Over the years, my family has had every kind of pet: horses, sheep, dogs, cats, birds, iguanas even! I find great joy in showing the animals I work with lots of love and guidance. I’ve trained my own and others' horses, dogs and cats over the years and it’s just the most rewarding experience. I work part time and mostly from home which allows me to be available all day to care for pets. I’m a big fan of a consistent routine with animals rotating stimulation (exercise, play, training or enrichment) meals, rest and balancing the three. I care for pets on my property which is almost entirely fenced in. I have professional kennels in a mixed use building with a residential portion attached. So I have the luxury of providing secure and roomy kennels with the addition of our cozy home area. I can take most types of pets and I’m especially suited to care for animals that do not do well in large boarding facilities, don’t do well with other pets or just want a more personalized, quiet boarding experience. I don’t believe it is always necessary to socialize dogs with dogs and right now that’s not something I do (unless they are boarding from the same owners). I focus on routine, a bit of training and connection with humans! I have a fenced in run where dogs can be off leash for playing, enrichment etc. I designed our kennels myself and had them custom built. Each stall is separated by concrete walls to provide a private and safe space. I chose mental fencing for the top of the partition and the door. I chose this instead of the plastic, glass or solid door options because it provides optimal airflow and allows them to see out. I also have private suites separate from that area.
About: I have lifelong experience caring for a wide variety of animals, including rodents, farm animals, dogs, and cats. I’ve lived in a dog-filled home for over 10 years and have extensive experience with bully breeds. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and provide patient, loving, and reliable care for every pet as if they were my own. Book now for a peace of mind and wagging tails ! Feel free to message and reach out by phone Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine because animals are already a big part of my everyday life. I’m home throughout the day, which allows me to provide consistent supervision, regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of one-on-one attention. Walks, feedings, and cuddle time are built into my schedule, not rushed or squeezed in. I enjoy keeping pets on their normal routines so they feel comfortable, relaxed, and right at home while in my care. Fenced in yard on 3 acres of open land. I spend a lot of time outside with my dogs. I can make sure your pets are in a loving caring and attentive environment
“Amber was absolutely amazing when I was in need of last second care, she went out of her way to send me updates and photos throughout the day which I greatly appreciated as well as picking up and dropping off my baby. She’s a saint!”

“Luiz and his family are amazing! Took such good care of my pup Bentley. Treated him like their own. So many cute videos and pictures sent through out the day! Bentley came home exhausted from all the play time. He also loves their dog Molly. Definitley will be booking stays there again. Highly recommend for any pet parent looking for a safe and caring place to leave their babies.”

“Melissa and her family took very good care of my pups when I needed last minute help. I was very grateful for their kindness and quick communication throughout the day. Will definitely use again when needed. Thank you!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 543 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Oakham. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Oakham commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 543 sitters in Oakham, 88% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
