About: I grew up walking my neighbors dogs because my parents wouldn’t get me one. We finally got a dog 5 years ago and now have a second one, along with a third bonus dog. Two huskies and a German Shepard have taught me a lot over control of dogs. My love for animals has continued to grow. I started waking some pups from a shelter in my college town. Being back home, I have lots of free time and would love to help take care or your animal(s). At the movement I am babysitting here and there, nothing full time. I have a few weeks where I am completely free and some where I babysit 4-5 days a week. I’m extemlty flexible due to my job! I am more than happy to provide care in your home! I love going on walks, long or short. I’m also happy to play in the backyard, whatever your dog is used to. I’m happy to stay the night or do a few daily check ins!

About: I am currently in Traverse City, Michigan. I spend a lot of time between here and Phoenix. I can do last minute sits or drop ins. If you book ahead of time, I can usually work my schedule around where I am. I have lots of time to walk and love on your pets. Very reliable and able to care for your home as well. Last minute sittings or walks are welcome. I will love and treat your pets as if they are my own. I have mostly done pet and house sitting through Trusted Housesitters. I can get you my reviews from there if you would like further reviews about me. They are all 5 stars. I love taking care of all pets. I have watched big dogs, little dogs, rats and cats and hairless cats. My calendar can change by the minute. Once I commit to you, I will commit to my time with your pet when you book me. I am a flight attendant with lots of time on my hands. My schedule is flexible and I can do a last minute walk or plan ahead for a long sit. I will leave my schedule as booked and open it when I get back from my flight. I am great for last minute sits or if you know ahead of time, I can usually book far in advance and work my flight schedule around you. I mostly work out of the Phoenix area and Traverse City, Michigan. If coming to your home, I ask for a detailed list of your preferences. I will follow and respect you and your pets needs. I am physically fit and love would love to walk your pup or take them for a hike if they are able. I am a flight attendant so I have had an extensive background check. I get random checked for drugs and alcohol. I am very respectful of your rules and space and I am very kind and loving to animals.

About: With over 10 years of experience in dog walking, dog sitting, and house sitting, I’ve had the joy of building lasting relationships with pets and their people. I’ve worked with dogs of all ages and temperaments—from energetic puppies to slow-moving seniors, rescues with trauma histories, high-anxiety pups, and velcro dogs who thrive with extra attention and reassurance. I also have hands-on experience with a wide variety of breeds, including Chihuahuas, Australian Cattle Dogs, Huskies, German Shepherds, Labradors, Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Rottweilers, and plenty of lovable mixed breeds. Whether your dog is small and shy, big and strong, or somewhere in between, I adapt my care to meet their individual needs, energy levels, and personalities. Since starting on Rover this summer, I’ve completed multiple house sitting and dog sitting gigs, both short and extended stays. This includes week-long stays for two different clients—one with two dogs and another with one—and several short-term boarding stays in my home earlier in the season. (Note: I’m currently not offering boarding, but I do offer house sitting, dog walking, and drop-in care!) In the past, I spent six years caring for a client’s dog while they traveled annually to Peru, staying in their home for about two weeks each year. During those visits, I handled daily walks, feeding, and plant care. I’ve also provided weekly dog walks for a client with two dogs, and many of my clients include plant care as part of my services while they’re away. My clients appreciate that: 🕒 I’m self-employed and work from home, so I have a very flexible schedule and can offer more one-on-one time and consistent care. 🐾 I don’t have any pets of my own, so I’m a great match for dogs who don’t do well around other animals or need a calm, focused environment. 🐕‍🦺 I’m active and outdoorsy, so I love taking dogs on multiple daily walks, hikes, lake adventures, dog park trips, or whatever their favorite activities are. 🧸 I also love to spoil dogs with attention, treats (with permission), and pup cups! I’m great at following your dog’s regular routine to help them feel safe and comfortable in your absence. I also offer regular photo updates so you can stay connected while you're away. Whether you need someone to keep your pup active during the day, provide loving in-home overnight care, or water your plants while caring for your dog—I’m here to provide reliable, personalized, and compassionate care. As a self-employed professional with a flexible, work-from-home schedule, I’m able to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pup. I make your pet’s care a priority—whether that means sticking to a specific routine, accommodating special needs, or providing extra enrichment throughout the day. I’m happy to work with you to create a personalized care plan that fits your dog’s unique personality and lifestyle. I also offer long-term and recurring services for clients looking for reliable, consistent support and peace of mind. When caring for pets—whether in your home or mine—safety is always my top priority. I carefully check the space for potential hazards, make sure doors and gates are secure, and keep anything dangerous out of reach. Your pet will always be in a safe, supervised, and comfortable environment. Trust is essential in building strong relationships with both pets and their people. I have years of hands-on experience, glowing reviews, and a long list of happy clients who regularly refer me—all of which reflect my dedication and consistency. I also pride myself on being a clear and responsive communicator, so you’ll always be in the loop with regular updates, photos, and honest check-ins. When I’m in your home, I treat it with the utmost care and respect. I follow your dog’s usual routine as closely as possible—whether that means walks, feedings, playtime, or quiet time in their favorite spot. I make sure they always have access to food, fresh water, and a cozy, clean place to rest. My goal is to keep your pet happy, relaxed, and feeling at home—even when you're not there.

About: Welcome to my profile. I am Lauren, a 21-year-old animal care professional with six years of experience in veterinary medicine. I hold a Fear Free Certification. Recently, I welcomed a three-month-old infant into my family, which has been a rewarding experience. I also provide pet sitting services, including dog walking, drop-in visits, and extended stays at clients' residences. I care for a wide variety of animals, ranging from reptiles and small mammals to horses, although I prefer to avoid handling spiders and snakes due to personal discomfort. Should you have any inquiries or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. My schedule is flexible, as I work PRN, and I am dedicated to supporting pet owners in the care of their animals. Thank you for considering my services and trusting me with your pets. I only work PRN(as needed) at Munson Foster Family, watching animals has always been a hobby for me. I will always make time for your fur baby. I prefer to care for the Client’s animals in their own home because it helps them feel more comfortable and secure. Moving to a new environment can be stressful for pets, especially those with anxiety, so staying in their familiar space makes a big difference. I’ve seen how this approach can really soothe anxious pets and help them feel at ease.

FAQs for House Sitting - Northport

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Northport on Rover is $72.71 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 126 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Northport. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Northport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Northport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Northport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
