About: I've been surrounded by dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, frogs and fish for 35+ years. I've raised, house-trained, walked, entertained and loved a variety of dogs and cats my entire life. I never get tired of these sweet creatures! I have experience with all dogs and cats, regardless of age, breed or temperament. As I'm now only working part-time providing early intervention services for children, and am self-employed, I have a great deal of flexibility to care for your dogs and cats. I'm available for drop-ins to feed, play with and care for your sweet pets as needed - throughout the day and night - as well as dog-walking, as it fits into your schedule. I've spent the last 20+ years working as a teacher and developmental therapist, educating children who have developmental delays and disabilities. Now, I've decided to focus additionally on my love of animals. Since I was a small child, I've adored pets, and have many years of experience caring for a variety of them. I'm very patient and appreciative of each animal's personality. I currently have 3 dogs and 3 cats of my own, and have used this service as a customer as well, so I can understand your point of view as "parents".
“Taylor did amazing with our pets. Our pup is very dog reactive and Taylor used her extensive experience while navigating walks with her. She has quite a charm with animals. She even coaxed out our hermit cat. Taylor did a fabulous job communicating with us and keeping us updated. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and experienced Rover.”

“Lauran was understanding and affectionate with my granddogs , working very well both with the elderly dog and the younger strong-minded one. She was flexible to come when most needed. Lauran is mature, experienced, and able to handle the dogs easily, keeping them safe and happy. I look forward to having her care for the dogs again. She made it possible for me to care for the dogs and they love her.”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life but within the last 2 years I worked at WMK9 out of Covington. Which is a dog training and boarding company. I’ve learned to properly train and take care of other peoples dogs. But my previous dog was a diabetic, so I constantly gave him vetsulin (dog insulin) twice a day. I work at Kroger and usually work 1-9, I do it about 5 days a week during the summer. I get my schedule for the next week Sunday-Saturday on the current weeks Friday. But with that said I don’t mind staying at someone else’s house. I am a very big believer in karma, so you don’t have to worry about not trusting me. I promise I will do my best to make sure your animal is comfortable with the circumstances given.

“Justin was fantastic! He came to walk my Great Pyrenees, Boo, who can be reactive to other dogs on walks, and I immediately felt confident leaving him in Justin’s care. Before the walk, he took the time to ask questions. Justin was incredibly kind and patient with Boo, and it was obvious that Boo had a great time! He even came early in the morning to help us beat the summer heat, which I really appreciated. After their one hour walk, Boo came home happy, relaxed, and tired! I highly recommend Justin to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and knowledgeable dog walker. We’ll definitely be booking with him again!”

About: Hi, I’m Nicole! Over the past five years, I’ve had the joy of caring for pets, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. I believe pets are family, and finding the right person to look after them while you’re away is crucial. I take this responsibility seriously and approach every pet with the same love and care I give to my own. After graduating from college and moving back home to focus on my education and career, I’ve integrated pet care deeply into my daily and weekly routine. My days start with caring for my own pets, ensuring they receive their morning walks and playtime. I’ve made it a priority to be punctual and attentive, which translates into consistent and reliable care for every pet I look after. Throughout the week, I schedule dedicated times for pet sitting and dog walking, seamlessly fitting these activities around my studies and other commitments. I genuinely enjoy meeting new pets and forming bonds with them, which adds a rewarding dimension to my routine. This balance allows me to maintain a high level of care and attention, while also staying engaged with the community of pet owners and their beloved companions. Whether caring for pets in my own home or yours, I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each pet and their owner. Having navigated different living situations—from sharing space with roommates to renting on my own—I understand the importance of respecting each individual’s specific needs and preferences. When caring for pets in my home, I ensure a safe and comfortable environment with ample space for play and relaxation. My own pets are accustomed to a structured routine, which helps me provide a consistent experience for any visiting pets. I maintain a clean and pet-friendly space, ensuring that every pet feels at ease. In your home, I focus on maintaining the familiar routines and surroundings that keep your pets comfortable. Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Northfield. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.
For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northfield. On Rover:
- 94% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
