“Leslie is fantastic. Henrik loves her, and she’s always there when we need her, even when it’s last minute sometimes. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter in the Hudson area!”

“Once again, Carolyn came through! It was short notice and she was able to help us out. She is so good to our doggie and always leaves our house better than we left it. She even picked up the dog poop outside! Don't hesitate to leave your fur baby and house in her care.”

“I cannot recommend Mark enough. I was nervous leaving my babies and elderly father for a week, but Mark had everything under control. He gets it! He is responsive, on-time, caring, organized and puts one's mind at ease. He is also very trustworthy. We look forward to working with Mark again. Thank you SO MUCH.”

About: I grew up being around dogs my whole life. We typically had at least 2 and they have always been treated as family members. I lived with a cat in college and brought my own baby home shortly after. We have two cats at home, and I would love to spend even more time with animals!! I work full time and live in the same city. Depending on the weekend, I don’t typically have a lot going on and would love to be around animals more. I am pretty active so I would gladly take walks! We have two cats that are strictly indoor. They basically have free rein of the house. I understand that pets can be reserved around unknown people, so I am willing to build that trust and just hang out if needed.
“We love having Lisa watch our two dogs! She is wonderful at communicating with us before and during her stay at our house and she goes above and beyond to make our house clean and put together before we get home. She takes great care of our pups and we hope we can continue to have her stay with them when we are out of town. She is the best!”

“Bailey was great! Very thorough communication and quick responses to all my questions. She sent plenty of pictures over the weekend and cleaned up the house before she left. We will definitely book with her again!”

About: My family dog passed away in 2024, since then I’ve filled my doggy-shaped hole by volunteering at Coco’s Heart (dog rescue) and house/dog sitting for families in my area. I work from home, so I’m able to give your animals their much-deserved attention throughout the day! My experience ranges from young puppies just brought to rescue, teenage dogs, to senior dogs, all needing special attention in their own ways. I am punctual with medications, meals and bathroom breaks. I currently work from home, and while house sitting am able to provide around the clock care. For walks or part-time, my schedule may vary slightly. Maintaining and respecting my client’s home is of upmost importance when caring for pets. Keeping not only their environment clean and safe, but the owners as well is important to what I offer. Whether it’s expected or not, I will leave the place the same, if not better than you left it. I strive for frequent communication and avoid outside environments that may stress pets out.
“Natasha did an awesome job pet sitting for Vada! She spent extra time with her (because Vada is so loveable!) I'll definitely use Natasha again if our schedules align.”

“Michelle came to stay at my house to watch my dog, Eevee, and it was clear Eevee had a lovely time! Michelle sent so many pictures while I was out of town, and my dog had plenty of time outside playing fetch and going out for walks. They bonded quickly, and I could tell Eevee was very comfortable with Michelle. The house was spotless when we got home as well. I would absolutely book with Michelle again!”

“Lisa stayed in my apartment for a long weekend. I received pictures of my dog, Phoebe, updates and check ins. She communicated well and Phoebe was very happy after her stay.”

“This was our first time booking with Joel and he did an amazing job watching our senior lab dog and staying at our house. He also fed our bearded dragon for us which was appreciated! He was great at communicating and left everything so clean and spotless! We could tell our dog was well cared for 🥰”

“Eliza was absolutely fantastic! She gave regular updates and stayed with our girl the whole time we were away. Her communication is exceptional and we really appreciated her coming on short notice, and doing such a wonderful job. :)”

“Michelle took such great care of our dog and cat (and house!) while we were away. Our dog is particularly grumpy and Michelle was able to walk and feed him without issue. We were also updated often which helped us enjoy our vacation knowing they were doing well. The house was clean upon our return - would book again!”

“Christine was very good with our 2 dogs and cat. While staying in our home, she left it clean and cared for it as if it were her own. Definitely will call again.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in North Hudson is $50

Maiya is fantastic! Great communicator and worked really well with our sweet pup. She not only took great care of our Cleo, but also our home while we were away. We highly recommend her- even though we selfishly would love to gatekeep her. ;) Thank you Maiya for everything. We look forward to working with you again in the future!

Leslie was absolutely amazing with our two Boston Terriers, Gracie and Gus! From the very beginning, it was clear that she truly cares about the dogs she looks after. She took the time to get to know both of them and made sure all their needs were met. I felt completely comfortable leaving them in her care — she kept us updated, and it was obvious that Gracie and Gus were happy, safe, and having the best time. They went on fun adventures and came home relaxed and content. It’s such a wonderful feeling knowing our pups were so well cared for and loved while we were away. We can’t thank Leslie enough and will definitely be booking with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Hudson walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Hudson maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Hudson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
