“We had such an amazing experience with Veronique! She took excellent care of our golden retriever Kennedy. We were provided frequent updates with photos and video and the communication was so easy. Veronique was very quick in getting back to us which was great. Kennedy had such a fun time and we would love to have Kennedy return! Highly recommend!”

About: I am a retired elementary school teacher and have taught children for the past 32 years. I’ve always loved animals, especially dogs, and am eager to care for them when they are alone. I am available throughout the day and for planned vacations. I’m retired and am available to go to your home and care for your dog. I don’t have a dog of my own anymore and am eager to play, care and walk your dog. I’m available to feed, walk and play with your dog. I’m happy to go to your home but also have a fenced in yard where your dog can run and play with me.
“Jennifer is amazing!! It’s my first time using Rover for my puppy and she put all my nerves at ease. She sent daily pictures and updates which I really appreciated. Noodle can’t wait to go back! Thank you again Jennifer!”

“I am very happy to write a 5☆review for Dan and Denise. I first met them in July 2017.I had inquired about their services for my previous dog and loved what I saw. Unfortunately, my Dog suddenly passed away and I did not use them . I did however save their contact information and now 9 months later , I have a new puppy. As soon as I needed daycare I called them up. Bruno spent a full day with them in their house and parklike backyard. He had a great stay and will be coming back on a regular basis. I am very happy with the care he received !”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from puppies to senior dogs. I currently own four dogs: two adult Belgian Malinois, a German Shepherd puppy, and a senior Shih Tzu mix. I have crate trained and potty trained multiple puppies and am familiar with the time, patience, and consistency required for successful training. Through caring for both high-energy working breeds and senior dogs, I have experience managing different exercise needs, routines, temperaments, and levels of care. I am committed to providing a safe, structured, and positive environment for every dog in my care. I am home most of the time and provide full-time care for the dogs in my home. Because I am available throughout the day, dogs receive regular supervision. I have a securely fenced yard where dogs can safely go outside for potty breaks and exercise. I am comfortable reinforcing crate training when needed and believe crates are a valuable tool for safety and routine. My own dogs are crate trained and are crated when they cannot be directly supervised to ensure their safety and prevent unwanted behaviors. I provide a structured, safe, and supervised environment while making sure each dog receives plenty of attention, care, and opportunities to play and relax.
About: I’m a retired professional with a calm, patient nature and a genuine love for animals. My sister has two dogs, one of whom is a super senior with special needs, so I’m very comfortable providing extra attention, patience, and thoughtful care. With a flexible schedule and plenty of time to devote to one-on-one care, I enjoy creating a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for dogs and cats. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, medication routines, or quiet companionship, I treat every pet as if they were my own—offering reliable care and true peace of mind to pet parents. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine. As a retired professional, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to plan my day around a pet’s needs rather than the other way around. I’m home for most of the day, which means plenty of time for walks, play, feeding, medication schedules, and quiet companionship. I enjoy building consistent routines that help pets feel secure and comfortable, and I’m able to give them my full attention without feeling rushed. This flexibility also allows me to adapt easily to senior pets or those with special needs who may require extra time, patience, or monitoring. I tailor my care to each pet’s individual routine, personality, and needs—whether in my home or in a client’s home. I follow all feeding schedules carefully, provide fresh water, regular walks or playtime, and plenty of attention and companionship. I’m especially attentive to senior and special-needs pets, including administering medications as directed and keeping a calm, consistent environment. In a client’s home, I respect their routines and space, making sure pets feel secure and comfortable in their familiar surroundings. I also keep pet parents updated with check-ins and notes so they can feel confident their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for while they’re away.
“This August we sought a warm and private alternative to the larger dog camps because our dog sitter (my daughter) was returning to college. Eliana and her entire family were warm & welcome. They allowed us to stop by for a meet & greet and even taught my dog (12 yr old) how to use a doggie door. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Eliana is amazing! She sent us pictures throughout the day during every visit & told me about the emotional state of my dog (sad because she misses my daughter). That meant the world to me. God bless Eliana & family. Best decision I made all summer!”

“I am what you would consider a little "crazy" or "over protective" of my dog, and I have a hard time trusting anyone to care for him. I contacted Laurie after I had heard great reviews about her from the dog park. Within the first five minutes of meeting Laurie, I knew she was a very caring person who could easily be trusted! Someone who invests in astro turf for their yard, and uses not one, but two fences to keep these dogs safe is someone who cares! I felt very comfortable leaving my dog in her care and I am grateful to know that I can bring my dog to daycare without having to worry about his safety. He also had a lot of fun! I highly recommend. :)”

“Barney had a good day with Jodie and played with her other dogs. She sent me pictures and updates throughout the day and was given a goody bag when he left. Would highly recommend Jodie ..”

“Jillian took a last minute request for us and was extremely nice. She was kind, provided updates when requested, and also was extremely flexible with our time. But a note, the bio does say non-smoking household and our dog did come home smelling like cigarette smoke, but other than that the experience was great.”

After 24 hours, it’s $10 an hour. - puppies and tiny dogs may stay in smaller secure area or my be bought in our home. -LOTS OF LOVE AND ATTENTION ❤️ When taking care of dogs, it's important to provide them with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Here are some fun activities I can do with the dogs I watch: Walking is a great way to provide dogs with exercise and mental stimulation. I Choose different routes and places to walk, such as a local park, beach, or hiking trail. Most dogs love playing fetch. I can take your dog or dogs with your permission to a fenced dog's park and play a game of fetch with a ball or frisbee. Dogs love to play with toys, such as squeaky toys or tug ropes.
About: I've always had a special connection with dogs. Ever since primary school, I volunteered to walk all my neighbors' dogs and would stay to play with them for hours—tug-of-war and frisbee were our favorites. I've walked dogs of all sizes, sometimes up to three at a time. Getting my own puppy was the best thing in the world for me, and I naturally have endless patience for animals. Throughout college, I walked and sat for my piano professor's dog for years—around the neighborhood, and I also drove him to dog parks and beaches. On top of that, I've volunteered at an animal shelter, cleaning dog and cat rooms and socializing with the animals. I currently can't have a dog of my own because I fly in and out for work. That's why I'm doing this part-time — it's never an assembly line for me. Each dog gets my full, individual attention, and I truly make friends with every one of them. I'm a sound designer and composer working on contract-based stage productions, which gives me a flexible schedule. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine — I walk dogs at least three times a day, feed them as many times as requested, and make sure they get plenty of playtime outside of my work hours. Since I'm not working a rigid 9-to-5, I can easily adjust my day around each dog's needs, whether that means extra cuddles, a longer walk, or a spontaneous trip to the dog park. Plus, because I fly in and out for work and can't have my own dog right now, caring for other people's dogs is something I genuinely look forward to and prioritize every single day. I live in a first-floor condo apartment in a neighborhood with lots of green areas — perfect for dogs who love quick potty breaks and longer sniffing walks. I let dogs free roam throughout my home and they're absolutely allowed on furniture. I treat every dog as if they were my own, which means lots of freedom, comfort, and attention. Since I do this part-time, I never have more than two unfamiliar dogs at once, so each dog gets a calm, focused environment. I'm extremely respectful of their space and routines — I follow all feeding, walking, and medication instructions to the letter, and I always leave things cleaner than I found them.

Callie's first doggy day care was a great success thanks to Veronique and her family. Sent lots of photos and videos to put my mind at ease and Callie came home happy and tired. We will definitely be calling on Veronique when we need help with Callie again. Thank you so much.

My pup had a blast with Lauren! She got plenty of walks and outdoor playtime, and came home happy and tired. Lauren kept me updated throughout the day with cute pictures of playtime and naptime. I could tell Nala was in great hands! We’d definitely book with her again

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 2,873 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across North Great River. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your North Great River commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 2,873 sitters in North Great River, 89% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
