“Obviously the dogs LOVED Marcus. We walked back in the house after getting back in town and the dogs just looked at us like "oh, it's you." He took great care of them, was always on time, and did everything we asked of him, to a "T".”

About: Growing up I wasn’t able to have pets, so I always volunteered to care for my neighbors pets. It was the best part of my childhood. Now that I have pets of my own, I’ve realized how much goes into it. I’m constantly researching new things to help my pets thrive. I rescued my dog as a puppy from the side of the road when I was 13. I had to learn to potty train her, leash train, etc. Realizing how many things could hurt her, even my everyday foods was enlightening and scary. Learning about cats and dogs is so intriguing and I want to understand each and every animal I take care of on a personal level. I am currently a stay at home mom to a 2 year old and newborn. While my little need a lot of one on one time, they sleep a lot allowing for plenty of time to spend with my fur baby as well as yours! My apartment complex offers a fenced in area for animal play which my pup loves taking advantage of. About once a day we go to said area to play and get all of our energy out, when we’re more on a time crunch we’ll take a lap around the building. We tend to go on walks every 3-4 hours or as Trixie let me know she’s needing to potty!
“Liz was wonderful with our boy Cassius. She gave great updates and allowed for my first time rover experience to go smoothly and put my mind at ease. She was great with him and we came home to a happy pup.”

“Serena was wonderful with my animals! I could see how much my cat and dog enjoyed her through the pictures. She communicated well and even went above and beyond by putting up my meal plan delivery that needed to go into the fridge. Highly recommend Serena!”

“Beth is WONDERFUL! We are so grateful for the good care she provides our cats- she knows them and their preferences at this point - she is our first and only call to take care of them.”

“Jolynn is just what my puppy needed. She made sure my pup went potty, got her lunch, and some play time. Not only was this great for my pup, but her great communication and pictures reduced my stress while at work knowing that she was having fun and not home alone all day. I will definitely be requesting Jolynn again!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs through Rover, for friends and family, and through volunteering with animals. I’ve also been a dog owner myself, so I understand the trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs with different personalities, energy levels, routines, and needs. I’m patient, attentive, and comfortable following detailed instructions, including feeding schedules, medications, walks, and special routines. I make sure your dog feels comfortable, safe, and has a good time- and I always keep their humans updated along the way. Hello I’m Andrea! I know how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pet. Whether they’re staying with me, need a drop-in visit, or just a good walk, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I work mostly from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pet the attention they deserve. For boarding, my home is currently pet-free and I have a yard for outdoor time. I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual feeding, walking, medication, and daily routine so they feel right at home. For drop-ins and walks, I tailor each visit to your pet’s needs—whether that means playtime, cuddles, feeding, potty breaks, an energetic walk, or a relaxed sniff around the neighborhood. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. 🐾❤️
“This was our first booking using this app, and I am thankful that Andrea was easy to work with. We booked last minute and did not have time to meet and greet, and she was accommodating of this. Our address is tricky and doesn't always show up on maps, but she was able to work around that, too. She sent us photos of our two cats, daily updates about their activity, and made sure they had food and water.”

“Amanda was very pleasant to work with. She was very personable with my 2 cats, especially with my younger male adopted as a stray. He is very timid and runs from strangers, but he let her pet as shown by the many pictures she posted. I will definitely book her again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Bern. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
