“We booked Levi to watch our pets while we were away for our wedding weekend, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! He went above and beyond — coming to our house twice beforehand so our dogs (and even our cat!) could get comfortable with him. While we were gone, Levi took amazing care of our pets, including handling medications for our dogs with health issues, keeping us updated, and making sure everyone was happy and healthy. We came home to a clean house and happy pets! It gave us so much peace of mind during such an important weekend knowing our pets were in such capable and caring hands. We’ll absolutely be booking Levi again — highly, highly recommend! 🐶🐾”

“Sarah was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. She easily connected with our dog and understood his needs. We look forward to working with her again. We cannot recommend her enough.”

About: I have loved animals my whole life. growing up with dogs, cats, fish, and birds, I enjoy pets of all kinds! I have experience with both pet boarding and pet sitting! I have worked with several different families with multiple dog and feel totally comfortable with that. Going to the dog park is always fun but I know some dogs aren’t comfortable there. I also have lots of experience with cats and birds. My roommate is allergic to cats so they can’t stay at our house but I would be happy to come to yours. Walking pups is a great way to explore new neighborhoods. Through these kinds of experiences I have learned that it is always more fun to walk around and explore with a four legged friend. I work a pretty consistent schedule but I am lucky enough to be able to flex it. I can adjust it to meet your pups needs. I have a fenced in yard that I spend a lot of time in during the summer. There are no other dogs in the building
About: I'm familiar with several different sizes and breeds of pets. Some dogs, some cats. I'm used to always having a pet around. I enjoy spending time with pets. I'm currently doing what I can for work on my own. I'm hoping pet care can become another thing I do. Let me know what you need accomplished and when. I will do my best to keep your pets on a similar schedule as they are used to. I will also do my best to keep the pets comfortable.
“Araya was so great with our 13 wk old pup, who is a handful to say the least. She did an amazing job and even brought some lovely surprises home from her work at the vet's office. We couldn't have imagined a better sitter for our little one. ?”

“We have a reactive and shy dog, and because of this we have never left him with a sitter. We decided to give Rover a try and that is where we met Shylina. She did an amazing job. She took a shy dog that wanted nothing to do with her at the beginning, to a dog that wanted to cuddle with her in bed at night. We highly recommend Shylina. We will definitely use her again.”

About: I love watching all types of dogs. Whether it be young or old, big or small. Dogs react to my personality in a positive way; I think they can tell that I’m a loving human. I do have a lab/ pit mix, Oso. He is very sweet and loves having other dogs over! For house sitting, I will leave him at home with my partner. I will always follow all instructions given to me about your animals. I understand how important it is to cater to each of your pets wants and needs. I will always send updates through out sittings and hoardings along with pictures so rest assured while you are away from your babies. Thank you for reading my bio and I hope to meet your dog soon!
About: I’m a caring person who loves dogs and grew up with a lab. I have experience with taking care of friends puppies and senior dogs. I love to play hard with them so they can sleep good for you! I can walk dogs before I go to work and, take them out immediately when I get back home. I will also make sure they are being fed at the right times. I’m happy to transport pets and have them stay at my apartment for up to a week. I will provide long walks with them on leash and follow procedures at a client’s home. Making sure that the pet is comfortable is a top priority for me.
About: I have grown up my whole life around animals. When I was younger, I had smaller animals like hamsters and rats. In high school, my dad did get an English bulldog and he was my best friend! When we first brought him home, I took him to training and I loved every second of it! I would watch him almost every weekend for my parents. My sister also had a dog, her and I worked opposite schedules so I would take care of him during the day. I also took him through training as a puppy. So if you have a puppy and want them to learn a thing or two I can help! I currently have 3 dogs and 2 cats with my boyfriend. So I really understand how much your fur baby’s mean to you as I have some at home! I am working part time and looking for something to do with my other time! I’m available all day Wednesdays, Fridays after 2pm and just about every weekend! Something that I live by is treating others animals like your own! I am also very big on respect. Letting me into your home to take care of your fur baby’s means a lot to me. I love to just hang out with furry friends or go play outside, which ever you need from me I will do! I really would like to make sure you and your animals can trust me! Whether you have cameras in your home or need a check in hourly, I’m willing to do whatever you need to trust me in your home. Having that trust bond can really make or break a sitter! Besides trust I also value on making sure your animal is safe.

About: I've taken care of a senior Bulldog for 1 year. I ended up training him and living with him. He made major improvements in behavior for his owner. We became best buds. Also I've taken care of a cat on a regular basis for the past 2 years. Playtime and cuddles are the best! I get along well with any animal I've met. Each animal has such a unique personality, and I'm excited to learn about them! Also when I was a kid I had hamsters as pets for about 10 years. During most weekdays I'm available anytime. Some Saturdays I'm available. But most Sundays I'm not available. I have a lot of flexibility and will work with your needs. I will be able to take care of your pets at your home or my home. Whatever is more convenient for you. I only ask that they are house trained and you bring what they would need of course. I will follow whatever guidelines you may have. I'm currently retired and will be available to take care of your pet Monday-Friday anytime of day. Some Saturdays are available too. Not on Sundays though. I have an unfenced yard and a park nearby that I can play with your dog at. Most of the time we will be inside my 1 bedroom ground floor apartment. Since I am home and not working, I'll give them plenty of attention and care!
“Ally did a fantastic job caring for our 3 dogs while we were on vacation. She kept us posted daily with updates and pictures. We knew this was a great experience for this dogs as well since they were showing their personalities and calm and relaxed. With a senior dog and two that have never been boarded we opted for an in home caring situation and it made all the difference. We returned to relaxed and calm dogs and knew they were in great hands so we could enjoy our trip! We would not hesitate to use Ally’s care in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Bailey was great! Very thorough communication and quick responses to all my questions. She sent plenty of pictures over the weekend and cleaned up the house before she left. We will definitely book with her again!”

About: I have owned a dog for the last 15 years and have taken care of all ages/types of dogs for family and friends! I am home during the week and on weekends. I have a 4 year old yellow lab who is extremely friendly with other dogs and is used to being around them. I have an acre fenced in yard in town with lots of room for the dogs to run around safe. We have the summers off and are very flexible during the week. We are also available most every weekend for weekend stays or week long stays. We have a large fenced (One acre) in yard and a four year old yellow lab named Earl who loves to run around. Our yard is very dog friendly!
“Katherine was great with the dogs and cat. She was able to stay on track with their food and potty schedule. She let us know immediately when one of the dogs had an accident on the couch and asked how we would like her to clean it up. She was willing to get the garbage and recycling out for us while we were out of town. The house was just as clean as when we left. She was very responsive to our messages. We will hire her again. We would highly recommend her.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Nerstrand
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 470 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Nerstrand. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Nerstrand walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Nerstrand maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nerstrand choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
