About: I've grown up around dogs. My family rescued a dog when I was 8. I took care of him until I went off to college. He was an American bulldog that lived a long happy life. After college I rescued a sweet doggy that was badly abused prior to my care. He was an American Bulldog Mix that suffered from anxiety and some aggression. After he had passed away, I adopted Penny. A boxer, terrier mix. She's one and a half and a big lover. I have gained a lot of experience from caring from mid-size / large dogs all my life. I am often a dog sitter for my friends and family. I love dogs of all size. I have school breaks off, so I will have more availability during those times. I am a teacher Monday - Friday, so my current availability is Saturday and Sunday. During school breaks, I will have almost all open availability. Most weekends I spend with my puppy, either doing enrichment activities or walking in nature. I have a dog kennel in my yard and two crates in my home. I also have a puppy that loves to socialize. I often walk my 60lb dog, so I am comfortable with small dogs up to large dogs.
“Courtney was a wonderful sitter. I have very social cats but I could tell when she first met them that they’d be in good hands. She even fed my mice that I hadn’t previously mentioned (I recommend always telling your sitter in advanced if you have “extra” pets so they’re aware, though, that’s on me). But she was so friendly and easy to communicate with. I’d also hired her to water my plants but because of the rain we got she didn’t have to. The fact that she was willing to do so and asked questions to make sure she did things right was more than enough for me. My home was also exactly as I left it, so I really appreciated Courtney’s efforts. The cats were asking about her when she left so she must’ve done something right. 10/10!”

“My pup and I were so happy with Jessica. She took the time to video chat with me prior to her visit to familiarize herself with our house/routine, which made me feel so comfortable. Jessica provided me with daily updates on Murphy. I will definitely be reaching out to Jessica next time we need help!”

About: Hi, I’m Emma – lifelong animal lover, proud cat mom, and your pet’s new best friend (for the summer)! ☀️🐾 From Boston Terriers to big ol’ Labs, I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes my entire life. Animals have always been a huge part of my world—and with two cats ruling my home, being a “cat mom” isn’t just a title, it’s a core part of who I am. This summer, I’m available to help you care for your furry companions—whether that’s dog walking, drop-in visits, or just spending quality time with your pets while you’re away. I’m here to give them the love, attention, and snuggles they deserve. No mess is too big, no personality too bold—trust me, I’ve seen it all and love them all. If you’re looking for someone dependable, loving, and totally pet-obsessed to care for your animals this summer, I’d love to connect! 🐶🐱💕 I am a teacher with full summer availability! I am available to walk, drop-in, or overnight pet sit at any time, and day of the week! Safety is my top priority, and I am here to safely cater to all your pets needs! I will walk your pet, give them regular potty breaks, and willing to administer any medication if needed. I will be sure to practice proper leash practices while out of the home!
“Olivia was fantastic. She definitely deserves a five star review. She showed up when she was supposed to and stayed for the agreed amount of time. She took wonderful pictures of Otis. She used features that I didn’t know existed with Rover. She’s is on top of her game and I would definitely use her again.”

“Jen was wonderful with our two cats while we were out of town! Very professional and communicative, not to mention kind and affectionate with our kitties. It gave us peace of mind knowing she has a wealth of experience in emergency veterinary medicine in addition to pet sitting and training. Jen went above and beyond, spending extra time with the cats when possible and bringing in our mail and packages. I would book her again in a heartbeat!”

“Kendra is a wonderful petsitter. She was quick to initially respond to my request and she scheduled a meet and greet quickly to see if our job was a good fit. First impressions was that Kendra was kind and professional. She was reported her daily check-in and was patient with my kitty who was timid and hid from her until the last day. I'm thrilled to have found Kendra and will be reaching out for future trips.”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets (including deer!) for my entire life. I have trained multiple dogs in both walking behavior and doing tricks for treats! I also love playing with cats and earning their trust. I am currently in online grad school while my wife supports us, so having a flexible job such as pet sitting is perfect for me! Since I am not working a conventional job, my schedule is very flexible to allow for pet care. The only time of day that may be difficult to accommodate is 9am-12pm since I have zoom in class sessions around then. But I am open for early morning checks ins and anything after noon. I currently have two cats that I love so much! We make sure to play with them everyday and give them the love they deserve.
“Claire was great! My kitty was a little shy and didn’t quite warm up to her but she was still super sweet and patient. Great sitter! She was highly communicative and accepted a last-minute booking over a holiday which was a lifesaver for us. Would certainly book her again!”

About: I have had pets since I was a small child and all throughout adulthood so have a ton of experience! Growing up we had a golden retriever (he lived to be 15) and then a mini dachshund. Currently, my husband and I have a cat, an American Hairless Terrier, a Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon and a Doberman Pinscher who are all very sweet and family friendly. My husband is also an AKC registered dog breeder and is the owner of Kyloe Legacy Kennels so I have experience with helping to raise a litter of puppies as well! I look forward to helping take care of your furry loved ones! I am currently home for the summer since I work in the schools as a speech-language pathologist. I have a 2 year old and an 11 year old at home who both love pets. Our oldest is away at college! I have a fenced in yard. We have lots of space for dogs to play and can walk them in our neighborhood. Your dog can be any combination of loose in the home, gated in the kitchen/dining area, or in a crate depending on the dogs needs throughout the day and night.

I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. That’s why I provide regular updates, photos, and communication so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is happy and well cared for. I treat every dog as if they were my own and take the time to learn their unique personality, routines, and needs. I’d love to meet you and your pup and help make your time away stress-free for both of you. 🐶❤️ I work full-time Monday–Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and I’m available for pet care after work on weekdays and all day on weekends. Whether it’s an evening walk, dinner and playtime, or overnight care, I’m happy to make sure your pet feels loved and cared for while you’re away. Weekends are perfect for longer visits, extra play, and plenty of cuddle time I care for pets in a very hands-on, attentive way and always try to make them feel safe and comfortable, especially while their owners are away. In a client’s home, I stick closely to their normal routine and make sure they get consistent care, attention, and reassurance. If pets stay in my home, I create a peaceful environment where they can settle in and feel relaxed. I stay observant of their needs and personalities, whether they’re playful, shy, or need extra comfort.
“Jessie did a great job looking after our cats while we were away! She was great about providing updates and was very prompt in all communication. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Jessie again in the future.”

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
