“Amber was a fantastic sitter! She took amazing care of our sweet girl and provided us with great updates while we were away. You can tell she knows how to take care of dogs and I truly felt our fur baby was safe with her. We will definitely be using Amber again!!”

“Alex and Bethany are trusted with my silly goose 100%. They send photos and videos and take care of my dog like she was theirs! This is the perfect spot to bring your pup!”

“Aaron and Rachel were wonderful to work with! They were very friendly, responsive, and made everything so easy. They watched our two high energy girls overnight and took great care of them. We really appreciated how comfortable and well cared for our pups were while we were away. We will definitely use Aaron and Rachel again for any future stays!”

“Rachel was very accommodating with a meet and greet as well as the pick up and drop off times. She responded quickly to any questions, sent updates/pics, and took good care of Scout. It sounded like he had a lot of fun and he seemed happy, calm, and healthy when we picked him up. Thanks, Rachel!”

“Look no farther for pet care!! Lindsey and Greg were astounding. They treated our two dogs like family. They sent updates and pictures everyday. When we dropped the dogs off they made sure to ask questions about the dogs preferences. They really took the time to get to know them. They are very good communicators. You can rest assured that your pet/s are in very good loving hands.”

“Jenn and her family were exceptional hosts for my Harlow's stay. Harlow was loved on and cared for as much as she is in her own home here with us. We don't often board Harlow, but will not hesitate to rebook with this lovely family.”

“My girl Shayla was practically adopted into Ian's family for 4 days. They have a little son, and he turned out to be the most enthusiastic playmate of Shayla. I was so thrilled to hear about their long walks and adventures with yogurt-face-cleaning. I received several pictures and even a video while I was away. Ian was truly a wonderful caretaker, providing Shayla with family fun that is as far from the typical kennel boarding experience as one can get. Thank you, Ian!”

About: I’ve had pets since I was born. I love to take my dog on walks at the beach and play in the yard with him. I am attentive to any reactions they might have to their surroundings as well. I’ve been looking for a job during the week days and I figured why not try this out to maybe help some families live their life if they’re on vacation or super busy. I have a friendly dog who will keep any pets company. I have a big yard with sun or shade if any dogs love to be outside. I also have crates if dogs need to be crated during the night or day.
“Matt & Rachel we’re great dog sitters for us! This was our first time using Rover and having our dogs stay with strangers so we were a little nervous going into it. We had a meet and greet with them and their dogs prior to booking and it eased all our nerves! We loved the daily photos and videos from them. They were great about providing an update on our dogs daily including the status of them eating. One of our dogs gets really anxious and depressed when we leave him (even if he’s staying with our parents) and tends to skip meals. Rachel and Matt kept a close eye on him and updated us regularly. Pups came home very tired from playing - safe to say, we’ve already booked them again for a future trip!”

About: I've loved dogs since childhood and have always had one by my side. Right now, I have a toy poodle, so I understand the unique needs of small breeds firsthand—from their exercise requirements to their more delicate care compared to larger dogs. Because of this, I'm especially comfortable and confident caring for small dogs under 20 lbs. What sets me apart is the personal, hands-on experience I bring: I know how to read small dogs' body language, keep them calm around bigger animals, and give them the gentle, attentive care they thrive on. I'm patient, observant, and treat every dog like my own poodle—with genuine affection and close attention to their comfort and safety. I work from home. So I will be able to take care of your pet. If you have something on weekend or on Holiday then you can rely on me I have a toy poodle who is very friendly. He loves to play. If your pup is not aggresive then he will be safe here. I can give your food or my pets food.
“Katie was AWESOME!! My dog didn't want to leave. Very secure fenced in yard and friendly on site resident dog (Tucker). She sent me messages and pics of my dog hanging out. Will totally use her next time I am in Rochester.”

“This last booking with Eliot was our Jesse's third. We are just thrilled with the care that Jesse receives, plus the texts and pictures we receive when we are away. Jesse is ecstatic at drop-offs and in lively, good spirits when we return. Eliot has lots of experience caring for animals and he is very professional. I cannot say enough good things!”

“Hannah and her little ones were fantastic. Zoe probably would have lived with them!! She loves the little ones. Hannah was fantastic. I received lots of pics and Zoe was very well taken care of. She loves running in the fenced yard. I hope Hannah keeps in touch and lets me know when her new addition arrives. I feel like I’ve known her all my life. I would definitely use Hannah again. She was awesome.”

“Michelle is a treasure! When our original plan fell through a week before an international trip, Michelle agreed to take on our golden retriever right away. Our dog has some anxiety and doesn't do well in unpredictable environments, and Michelle closely considered and responded to his individual needs. She really went above and beyond, making homemade dog treats, trimming his nails, and giving him a handsome trim. AND she worked on training him, even teaching him some agility -- it might be my imagination, but I swear he seems better behaved since we got home. She sent plenty of pictures and videos. It made our vacation more relaxing and enjoyable knowing he was in good hands. We'll definitely re-use Michelle for our next trip!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Murray home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Murray.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Murray sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
