About: I love and have cared for dogs since I was 15, I have patience for any breed and I have open availability. My most recent dog I cared for is a pug. He was a puppy and I trained him how to go on the pee pads and when he got a little older we went for walks. I always go for walks, always make sure the puppy/dog gets enough attention, food and water. I have watched all sizes of breeds from chihuahua to a husky, unfortunately because I just moved into an apartment I could not watch bigger breeds from home but I am always willing to drive to you! About: I am a Fear Free certified veterinary technician of 13 years who grew up in the show dog world (AKC) before getting into rescue as an adult. Throughout my long-lived animal career I have participated in puppy/kitten/basic obedience training, behavioral rehabilitation, dog sport training, senior care, care for animals with extreme medical needs, and owned/operated a group play doggie daycare. My jobs, hobbies, and passions are all centered around animals and I can't wait to bring that passion to you! I am home full-time, and available for puppies and animals with heavy needs. I have a fairly set schedule for all of the pets in my care, and that level of routine provides comfort to even the most nervous of pups. I am the only Fear Free pet carer in Bakersfield! I provide comforting classical music as well as calming pheromones in the sleeping spaces to make their stay as stress-free as possible. I have a fenced yard and never leave dogs together unsupervised. I do not provide an environment suitable for animals with a history of dog aggression. Small dogs I can be more flexible with, as their attitude usually comes from a place of fear and that is something I can work with for the little guys.

“Shanna is great. She has been patient and collaborative in planning for my Roxie's care. We had a meet and greet, then a short daycare stay, then a full day of daycare. She is well versed in dog behavior. My dog, coincidentally a "pitbull type" is often categorized and judged as "vicious or aggressive" even before people meet her. I've had dog sitters on Rover decline to provide services simply because of her breed or her appearance. Shanna understands that Roxie is a dog: a dog with her own level of prey drive (so Roxie is not allowed in her daughter's room cause of the hamster she has); a dog with some anxiety who barked at her husband when he came into the house. They didn't freak out. Shanna understood Roxie's behavior and worked through it, allowing Roxie to get to know her husband, settle and move on. I truly appreciate her family's openness and acceptance. We have two more full days of daycare booked and if all continues well, we will book boarding services. Roxie is people and dog friendly, but the discrimination we have experienced on Rover, leads me to take things in a new daycare/boarding situation slowly. Shanna has been very reassuring and understanding. throughout the process. I HIGHLY recommend her.”

About: I was gifted my first dog on Christmas when I was 4 years old and learned to care and love him all his life. I’ll always remember my dog Chocolate as the best Christmas ever that also was the best gift I’ve ever received. He taught me to appreciate and love animals and to care for them accordingly. I cared for a family members pregnant dog and helped her give birth to her 6 puppies and care for them for the diary 3 weeks of there lives. It was truly an experience that I learned a lot from and made me a better care giver. Pet care and having routines are very important as a caregiver. I understand that it is my responsibility to care for the pets and to me sure I plan accordingly for my schedule to fit this position. Currently I have a lot of availability as a current college grad. I’m looking into pet care because it gives me the opportunity to do what I love, care for pets. I am able to work most weekends and holidays as well as weekdays. I care for pets in my home and in there owners homes by giving them the best of me and my attention. About: I'm definitely an animal magnet...I love being around animals. I will love and spoil them as if they are my own furbabies! They will never be left alone. I was born and raised around dogs and cats. I can’t imagine not having any furbabies in my home. I’d be lost. They are so loyal furbabies. I'm very flexible with my schedule. I'm usually available most of the time. I can do weekends and on Holiday, too.
