“Briana was available on short notice when I had to be away for a funeral. I appreciated her willingness to be flexible. She took all my instructions in stride. She was very communicative and sent several photos. And most importantly, I came home to a happy, healthy dog! Briana is definitely on my go-to list in the future.”

“First experience with rover. Will only go back to Candice going forward. Gave frequent updates and pictures, was incredible with our Oreo. Would recommend to anyone in the area. She was also super easy to coordinate with.”

“We’ve had Adam housesit for us a few times now and he always does a splendid job! We get pictures and updates every day. He takes time to learn the animals personalities and if he has any questions/concerns, he always asks which we appreciate! Our animals love him and he takes great care of our house too! We would absolutely have him housesit again!”

“Billie is definitely one of my favorite rover sitters to date! She was highly responsive during the booking/meet and greet process and very communicative throughout the duration of the stay. We received multiple updates a day with multiple photos which definitely put us at ease since one of our dogs can sometimes shut down a little while we are away. Billie did great with both of our dogs and even the one who typically hides while we are gone was a big fan - he was out and social most of the stay. Billie also left our house immaculate. Cannot give her enough praise, will definitely look to book more of our sittings with Billie in the future.”

“Ashley was amazing! She notified us and sent a picture of our pups soon after she arrived. She kept us updated by emails and photos throughout her stay. Because our return was tentative because of driving back from a wedding, she stopped by in the afternoon to let the pups out prior to our return. I highly recommend her and will be using her again!”

“Kevin is always welcome to watch our four legged babies every time we have him the dogs look so comfortable. They’re not stressed out the he shows me pictures of how they are at home and they love him.”

“Not only is she’s great with my dogs, but was also so helpful when I got in a pinch and my flight was postponed for another day. Great to work with and communicates often! 5 Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”

“Kellyann was kind and attentive to our senior dog Harley. A lover of animals. Very professional and punctual. Keeps in touch pictures and text questions of concern. I could relax knowing he was in good company.”
“Ronny is the best dog sitter we've ever had! He truly cares about our pets. He keeps them active, keeps in contact with me with tons of pictures, which I love and they truly love their time with him. One got sick and Ronny never missed a beat.”

“Melissa was great, she showed up right on time the day we left and helped keep our 2 large dogs calm as we left. We got photo updates nearly every day and it felt like our house and pups were in good hands while we were away. When we returned the house was in great shape, the dogs were happy and our plants were thriving! This was a fantastic experience, we would definitely book Melissa again.”

About: I am a responsible, mature, and loving pet-sitter. I understand the concern you feel for your fur baby and will provide consisent care and attention while you are away from home. I have always had dogs and cats of my own and love them as part of the family. I am currently freelance and set my own schedule. When I care for your pet they are my priority, and I will care for them as I would my own pets. I understand the needs of dogs and cats while their owner is away, and I will give them loving care until you return home to them.
“Excellent! Morgan was wonderful. She treated our doggy just like he was her own. She stayed in our home and it was cleaner than when we left. Morgan sent updates and photos of Mav every single day. She even left us a beautiful thank you note.”

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs of all kinds and know firsthand the love and attention they need. From my first dog, Francis—a loyal Cocker Spaniel/Beagle mix who was part of the family for 16 years—to Olivia, a playful Boxer mix who brought joy for 9 years, I’ve learned how to care for dogs with different personalities and health needs. Now, I’m lucky to share my life with Lulu, a 3-year-old Staffy and Pitbull mix. I treat every dog with the same love and care I give my own, making sure they feel safe, happy, and well-loved. Taking care of pets is just part of my everyday life. I make sure there’s time for walks, play, meals, and plenty of love every day. I’m used to paying attention to what each dog needs—whether it’s some extra energy to burn or just some chill cuddle time. Basically, I fit pet care into my routine because I genuinely enjoy hanging out with dogs and making sure they’re happy. I live in a quiet apartment with my dog Lulu, which provides a calm and safe environment for pets. I’m also close to several parks with plenty of space for walks and playtime, so your fur baby will get lots of exercise and fresh air. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or during in-home visits, I always make sure water is available and follow feeding routines tailored to your dog’s needs. I take pride in giving attentive walks, regular potty breaks, and plenty of love to keep your dog happy and comfortable while you’re away.
“Emily was respectful of our house and left it exactly how it was found. It was so nice knowing the dogs were in good hands and well taken care of. Hopefully Emily is available every time we need a dog sitter b/c I’d welcome her back each and every time! Thank you, Emily, for taking care of Tyson and Lilly while we enjoyed our last camping trip of the season.”

“Barbara was wonderful. She did overnight sitting for our four dogs. She kept us updated with pictures every day which we loved. She left the house and plants in great condition. We came home to four happy fur babies. Taking care of four dogs is not easy but they all settled right in with her. I would highly recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mount Joy
Haylee dealt with a lot of extra responsibilities that she didn’t sign up for. Our second day away a neighbor bit our one dog. Chief was a little scared after the fight and left a small bite on our other dog 2 hours later. She was very effective in handling the situation, even helping me get in contact with the neighbor and getting ointment for the cuts. The trip was cut short due to our one dog then developing a nasty ear infection, but Haylee took great care of our dogs and always sent pictures!

Abigail was great with our dogs when my husband and I went on a 6 day trip to St. Lucia. She gave multiple updates everyday, always asked questions if she was unsure of something and left the house in perfect order. I cant say enough good things about her, shes very sweet and helped with both our dogs and cats. I would highly recommend using her services!

Marie is the best! She watched my two German Shepherds and I couldn’t be happier. She was communicative throughout the entire stay, sending updates that gave me total peace of mind. My dogs are large and energetic, but she handled them like a pro. I came home to two happy, relaxed pups — the biggest compliment a pet sitter can get! I will absolutely be booking Marie again. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mount Joy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mount Joy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mount Joy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mount Joy. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
