Cheryl was incredible! I was apprehensive to leave my two golden retriever fur babies with someone I didn't know but I needed to leave town last moment and had an early morning departure. Cheryl was able to meet with my dogs the evening before I left and won them over instantly. They didn't want her to leave, which showed me that she truly has a passion for dogs. She spent quality time with them, playing with them and giving them the attention they craved. The three days she took care of the dogs, it was evident that she truly spent quality time with them. So much so that for days after I got home, they were constantly waiting by the window, waiting for her return.

About: Call me Kat or Anna! I've been living with animals my whole life, including dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. From the age of 13, I have been taking care of my neighbours' and family friends' pets when they ask. I've got experience with rodents, lizards, cats, and dogs, but I'm not afraid to learn new animals! I've got particular experience with special needs pets, including post-surgery care, asthma, seniors, separation anxiety, leaky bladders, and daily oral/injection medication. I'm not squeamish around messes, smells, or loud noise. I've cared for nearly every personality out there, and whether your pet wants space, cuddles, or needs a bath, I'll help out for as long as you and your pets need, no matter how many or how weird they are! I'm currently a college student and take classes on monday/wednesday from 12pm-3pm and tuesday/thursday from 6pm-9pm. During those hours, I will not be available. I am happy to care for your pets anytime other than that, however, even on holidays! Personally, I use free-feeding (there's always kibble in the bowl) and positive reinforcement with my pets. They're only allowed outside under supervision, I clean the litter boxes every other day, I play with them daily, and special treats are highly encouraged. Of course, other houses have different care plans, and I am flexible. I will never enter any areas of your home you have not given me permission to access unless it is an emergency, I will clean your house before leaving if it is an overnight stay, and I will always alert you via a text message when I enter or leave your home so that you know your pet is being looked after. If you have other requests regarding your pet and home, such as getting mail, watering plants, etc, I am more than happy to oblige.

Kristen was so kind and took great care of my cats Jax and Boba. She did overnight stays with them that gave me such peace of mind and left my place just as I had left it - a fantastic house guest 🙂 I've already booked her again for a longer trip I have later in the year and has just been great about providing updates and prompt responses!

Kayla was everything I had hoped for! Our Abby is quite fearful of new people and Kayla gave her the space she needed but also never gave up. In two half hour visits she got Abby to go on a walk and during her first overnight Abby allowed Kayla to pet her and give her eyedrops. Success! Kayla is punctual, friendly, and yet also professional. I would absolutely use her again (and again and again). Zero regrets. A thousand smiles. 😊

Our 3 dogs and 1 cat were well cared for by Stephanie and Jay while we were on a long trip (10 days). We came home to relaxed and happy animals, and a clean house! We appreciated the great communication of daily updates and photos, which helped us feel secure that our kiddos were in good hands. Highly recommend hiring these two!

About: I have been pet sitting for 4 years. I have also been a part time dog groomer for a couple of years. I have experience with dogs as small as French Bulldogs to as large as Spanish Mastiffs and Bernese Mountain Dogs. I have experience with LOTS of dogs and cats. My mother is a dog breeder, so I have experience caring for puppies from birth all through the puppy and adult stages. I am a full time college student and volunteer soccer coach, so I will not be able to always stay at a home for hours at a time. I take top precautions when pet sitting in people's homes, sending pictures, messaging owners, and calling if there are any issues or uncertain about something.

About: I’ve been working with animals for 15 years, caring for dogs, cats, birds and can help with farm animals as well. I have handled breeds that are small to very large. I am very flexible with my schedule. I love to ensure they are getting their exercise as needed, as well as a well rounded diet. I am a stay at home mom so I am very happy to be with them however they require. We use leashes and harnesses for outside. We have a dog park close by that’s fenced in and safe for giving them running time and ability to play freely

About: Hello! I have experience dog-sitting a variety of breeds, ranging from very social dogs to those that are more reactive. I am comfortable with dogs that bark, as I understand they can be quite different. One of my own dogs has severe anxiety, so I am familiar with how to manage such situations. Both of my current dogs are large, so I am comfortable caring for dogs of any size. My goal is to ensure the animals feel loved and cared for, so that their owners can have complete peace of mind. I am currently employed full-time, but I have all of my evenings available and am passionate about animals and providing them with the best possible care. I understand when and how to use crates if necessary. I am also familiar with engaging with them through toys and activities! I will make sure they get the proper care.

MaShon is a dream come true! My pup, Lady, is fearful of strangers and slow to warm up. MaShon has taken extra time with Lady and now they are best friends. My pup has gotten better with strangers and other dogs since MaShon has started taking care of her. She truly has a gift when it comes to animals. I never worry about anything when I leave Lady with her because I know the love and care she has for my dog. I highly recommend!

When I got home, I honestly couldn't tell anyone had even been here, but for the fact that the pets were happy and healthy. :-) She sent updates and pictures, and I never had a worry. I look forward to having her here again.

Charlotte did a great job with Pickle and Daisy while I was gone for the weekend. She consistently kept me up to date whenever she visited my dogs and provided plenty of pictures of them as well. I was most impressed with the fact that she was able to deal with my somewhat rowdy dogs that like to jump. I will definitely keep her in mind for dog sitting in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - Morganton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Morganton on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 604 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Morganton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Morganton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Morganton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Morganton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Morganton. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
