We are so grateful to have crossed paths with Madelyn on Rover! She has watched our dogs twice now, both on short notice and has been so accommodating and flexible. She is now at the top of our list any time we need to consider a pet sitter for some time away! Every time our dogs spend time with her, we can tell they were loved and cared for, and our home is always very well taken care of! Madelyn truly goes above and beyond for her clients and is the best pet sitter we have ever had. She communicates thoroughly, and takes the time to make our pets comfortable- especially our special needs deaf dog. I Would absolutely recommend Madelyn to anyone looking for truly exceptional and dedicated service from a person who will love on your pets like her own. She’s truly a step above the rest!

Kathryn was great. She willingly agreed to take care of my girls at 5 am. She arrived earlier than expected knowing my dogs need a little extra love and sent me a lot of pictures. We will definitely use Kathryn again to help care for my 11 year old pups.

Gwendolyn's pet sitting services are Top-Notch! She takes the time to not only feed and care for our fur babies, but she spends quality time with them as well. She truly provides true love to them. We also use her home care services, so our many Live Plants receive her delicate care and love too! Gwen even went a step above and brought in a package that had been delivered to our door in our absence. We truly recommend you book Gwendolyn, as you will not regret it!

Tammie was an absolute lifesaver while I was on vacation! She came three times a day to care for my cat, including administering oral medication, which can be a challenge—but she handled it with total professionalism and care. She was always on time, incredibly communicative, and sent regular updates that really helped me relax while I was away. When our flight was unexpectedly delayed, she didn’t hesitate to make additional last-minute visits to make sure my cat was safe and comfortable. Her flexibility and dedication truly went above and beyond. It’s such a relief to know my pet is in such capable and compassionate hands. I will 100% be booking with Tammie again and can’t recommend her highly enough!

About: I've had cats my whole life and a dog for a little over 4 years. I love animals and will play with and hike with your dog (or cat) anytime! I'm familiar with prong collars, whistles and clickers and will use training techniques laid out by you for consistency I spend a lot of time with my animals daily, depending on my tasks, but their health and joy is a priority for me. I try to ensure I spend an hour focused on them each, every day. I'll follow any training requested, and use your queues and signals. I am familiar with prong collars, muzzles and most leash types and have even walked cats before. We'll have adventures and stay healthy together.

Alexis was spectacular watching over our baby Maya with some drop in visits to our home! After getting booked for a last minute work trip, she came to the rescue in a days notice and even squeezed in a complimentary meet & greet before we left. She checked in and tracked each walk, reported the pup's bathroom movements, and sent pictures of Maya smiling in her care. Absolutely, 110% would recommend Alexis and trust that we will be calling her again in the future!

About: I work from home and have a sweet 2 yr old Frenchton (half French Bulldog, half Boston Terrier), and we would love to take care of your pet! We will fill your pet’s day with playing, long walks, snacks, naps and lots of love! I’ve owned at least one dog all of my life and I know how challenging it can be to find trusting, reliable dog sitters & I’m happy to help with boarding or drop ins for walking, feeding, etc. My dog would love to have another dog to play with, walk with, nap with, she desperately wants a dog bestie❤️, we would love the opportunity to love and care for your pet!! I work full time from home, dog walks will be 4-5 times a day or on command. I currently walk a total of 3 to 4 miles a day with my dog but we can customize that for whatever pet we are lucky enough to take care of! My home is very dog friendly with dog beds located throughout, a warm fireplace to nap in front of, and a surplus of pet toys.

About: I've owned and cared for dogs since I was three years old. I've always loved them! I've worked at a dog boarding kennel for over a year now and I love it! Before that, I worked at a farm with lots of different animals and I've watched/walked dogs on the side for a long time now. I also have experience with cats as well! I'd love to meet your four-legged friends and family! I work part-time at a dog boarding kennel and my hours are different sometimes. I'm either working 7am - 12:30pm OR 3pm - 7pm. I usually work the afternoon shift (3 - 7). Since I have worked with animals a lot, especially dogs, I definitely consider myself pretty educated. Like I said, I do not offer boarding in my own home but I am more than happy to come to yours and offer my services! If you have any questions about anything, always feel free to contact me! :)

About: I had the privilege of caring for my rescue dog for 14 years and have spent years pet sitting for friends. I’m comfortable with a variety of personalities and always provide dependable, loving care so your pet feels right at home. I’m a teacher so my afternoons and summers are mostly free! I’m home around 3:45 every afternoon and have weekends, holidays and summers off. I would love to take your pet with me on my daily walks/hikes, or pet sit when needed. I coach soccer in the fall, so my afternoons are less available September - November. I’m open to all situations. Happy to house sit, or just pop in for regular walk breaks. I walk/hike every day and would love to take your pet on the trail too!

Madelyn was wonderful and took great care of my fur baby even when my driveway was covered in snow and also helped us out over Christmas! Our cat is a needy boy and usually complains a lot when we leave but he didn’t seem to mind this time. Would definitely recommend!

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Montague stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Montague. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
