“Anne helped us out with a very last minute request and did a great job of caring for both our pups. Everything was completed as requested. Great communication. Highly recommend.”

“Aracely is the ultimate cat whisperer! This was our third time having her look after our home, and even for just a short visit, she continues to impress. Leaving a big pet family behind can be stressful, but knowing our six cats are in such great hands gives us total peace of mind. Aracely handles everyone’s individual quirks and needs like an absolute pro, ensuring they are not only well-fed but genuinely comfortable and content for the rest of the day. Every time we get back, everything is perfect and it’s clear our crew is happy and at ease. Huge shoutout to Aracely for taking such amazing care of them—we’ll definitely be booking her again!”

“Peyton took great care of our kitty Kimchi! This was our first time using Rover & Kimchi’s first time being left alone. Peyton dropped in on her two times & Kimchi loved her presence. Would recommend!!”

“Grace did a great job while we were out of town. She took care of our cat while we were gone for two weeks in our home. We got pictures while we were gone every time she visited. I could tell our cat was a little apprehensive at first but towards the end of our trip, our cat warmed up. I will definitely be using her again when we travel.”

“Maelee was amazing! My kitty’s litter was scooped and water refreshed more than requested and communication was excellent. I received lots of photos and good updates. I recommend Maelee!”

“Brandi was awesome! I loved the amount of pictures and updates I got! It makes me feel so much better about leaving my fur baby for this long. Tulip Mae loved Brandi and seemed very comfortable with her which made it so much better. Thank you so much!”

“We weren’t sure what to expect since Anikka is newer on Rober but she was a great sitter for our fur babies! We appreciated the easy communication and the photo updates, they had a wonderful time with her. We have one dog who is senior and needs a little extra love and she took great care of him. She took our other dog to the park near our house which she loves. Would definitely use her again!”

“Janelle was truly fantastic with our 2 dogs! I would highly recommend her. She did drop ins for us multiple times a day while we were out of town, and was punctual, engaging, and went above and beyond to make sure they were well taken care of. We feel so grateful to have found a reliable & dog-loving sitter!”

About: I’ve helped dog-sit my neighbor’s pups over the last 10 years and have loved every encounter with them. I recently lost my best friend (border collie mutt) of 13 years, and am looking to help any other owners out!! I love running with dogs, so if you have an energetic one that needs exercise I am happy to help! I am also comfortable walking, playing, stopping in, feeding, conducting potty breaks, and spending the night with all pets! I have a full time job (8-4) that has flexible hours and sometimes I work from home. I am available on the weekends to house sit and stay the night with your pup. I am available to pet-sit in your home and replicate your pet’s typical schedules and trainings, and whatever you need that is communicated to me!

About: I have been a Pack Leader at The Indoor Dog Park and Daycare since March of this year, I am now looking for a more flexible way to work with animals. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s of Biology in hopes of working with animals someday. I have lots handling experience, as well as a deep understanding of animal behavior. Take a peek at my gallery to see some of my favorite pups!! Below are some skills I practiced at The Pack: -Supervised large play groups of 25+ dogs simultaneously, ensuring safe social interactions and preventing aggressive behaviors. -Monitored canine body language and group dynamics to intervene early and de-escalate potential scuffles or stress-related issues. -Implemented safety protocols and facility rules that maintained a 100% injury-free play environment across shifts. -Observed and recorded daily changes in animal appetite, behavior, and physical health, reporting concerns promptly to management and communicating daily report cards and behavioral updates to pet owners, building strong customer loyalty and trust. -Controlled intake and release procedures, verifying owner identification and vaccination records for every dog. -Maintained strict sanitation and hygiene standards by regularly disinfecting play yards, kennels, and shared equipment. My schedule is yet to be fully set, so just ask! Anytime might work! I currently am free for a good period of time most days. I am not currently offering pet sitting at my home as it is an apartment and I don’t like confining dogs to such a small, unknown space. In the future I am hoping to have a house in the country with a large yard for my animals!
About: I've been a part of a foster family for dogs of all ages since 2010 and will continue to do so even longer. The puppy litters I watched over the years have consisted of 4 puppies or less. The oldest "puppies" I've fostered were just about 6 months old but they are usually around 4 to 8 weeks. The oldest dogs I've watched were two small dogs: one was 16 years old and the other was 14 years old. Even before fostering, I watched and walked my neighbor's two dogs during all seasons. If she had not moved away, I would still be walking and caring for them now. I've always had a passion for dogs and my current dog, Ruby, is my second .
About: I work at a vet clinic and also have a dog of my own. My mom calls me a dog whisperer because I’m good at reading them and good at handling them as well. I started off dog sitting in high-school and have been dog sitting for friends and family since then! I enjoy figuring out their personality and getting to know the things that make them happy! I’m good with dogs of all ages and temperaments as I’m very patient but confident. Currently I’m working on getting employment which means I’m free to assist with your pet anytime and anyday besides Sunday. I would love to help! Typically when I dog-sit, I like to stay overnight there to ensure they have someone to be with at night. I also will let them out when needed and feed them in a timely manner. In my free time I’ll go to the pets house and spend time with them as well!
About: I have lived with dogs my whole life! I am a responsible individual with my masters in occupational therapy! I have volunteered at numerous animal shelters! I am an animal lover as well as passionate person. I will treat your dogs like they deserve! I will also run with them if they prefer that. I am very willing to accommodate any needs your dog may have! You will not regret letting me spend time with your dog! I do not have any breed restrictions or weight restrictions! I will provide you with pictures and updates on your dog as often as you would like! I understand the care needed to maintain a happy healthy puppy! If you contact me, I will assure you that you will receive a quick/prompt response because I understand this is important! Thank you for considering me to spend time with your dog! I currently work full time, however my schedule can be flexible. Weekends are free! I can sometimes may weekdays work if I know ahead of time! I have a fenced in yard with two great dogs! Very pet friendly home! We do also have a cat, but he has been around dogs all his life!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
