Kat is a pleasure to work with. Timely, communicative, and super caring for our animals. The house is cleaner when she leaves than before she came! Thanks Kat for such a good job!

I’m beyond impressed with the incredible service from Alivia — and yes, she does house sitting too, and she absolutely nailed it! From the moment we connected, I felt completely at ease leaving both my home and my beloved dog in her care. She were professional, warm, and communicative throughout the entire stay. I received regular updates, photos of my happy pup, and even a few check-ins about the house — which was spotless when I returned! My dog was clearly loved, exercised, and spoiled (in the best way), and my home was exactly as I left it — maybe even cleaner. Everything was handled with care and attention to detail. It’s such a relief to know there’s someone I can trust with both my home and my furry best friend. I’ll definitely be booking again and recommending her to everyone I know. Truly the best dog and house sitting experience ever!

Megan was the best whole caring for our 3 animals. We have a high anxiety dog and she was able to make him feel at ease and relaxed while we were away. She was communicative, sending pictures and updates and answered any questions we had.

I can’t thank Jordynn enough for the great care of my pups who have vastly different personalities. One sweet girl Nina who never wants to leave your side and could play all day and then my shy old man Dewey. But Dewey warmed up to her so quickly and I could tell Jordynn truly cares about animals. She was courteous, timely and thoughtfully communicative. Even though I was going to be without cell service during part of my time away I always returned to pics and updates. I look forward to booking with her again.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Keleia. She barely said 3 words at our meet-n-greet, so I was a little nervous! But I am very happy I still booked! She was a fantastic communicator over text and always told me when she needed to pop out and was on her way back. She also sent pictures as I asked and my dog looked healthy and content in them. When I arrived home, she had run the dishwasher and changed the bedsheets as I asked, and the house was nice and tidy. My dog also was in good spirits and didn't seem overly relieved I was home after my short absence, so I think he had a great time with her. I'll definitely be booking with her again!

About: I have lived with animals most of my life. While I currently do not own a pet, I have continued to surround myself with the animals of my friends and family. I started cat-sitting 2 years ago. When I pet sit, I aim to ensure a great experience for my furry friends. I am currently working part-time as an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and am flexible in my hours. I am currently a part-time Occupational Therapist, so I have flexibility in my schedule to take care of your furry friend. I have my own transportation as well. I work hard to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for your animal in their home environment. A detailed description of your animal's needs is much appreciated.

About: I have been around dogs and all sorts of pets since I was a young child. My family & I have always had pets roaming around the house! A day hasn't gone by in my life where I haven't fed, bathed, or walked a dog! I currently don't work a job as I run a business out of my home. I am incredibly free any day of the week at anytime. I have a big yard (unfenced) & I am very aware of my surroundings so you can trust that I will have my eyes on everything!

Leaving your pets is difficult, especially when they are senior dogs. It was our first pet sitting with Rover. We selected Michael because of the customer reviews and rebooks. From the start he was professional, very communicative, asked the right questions and has a genuine interest in animals. My shy, very protective 9 year old was immediately in his lap and did not leave… which was very surprising- but they say a dog knows… I received pictures, updates, and stories about their quirky personalities that for someone watching your dogs for the first time was refreshing. The house was better than what I left it including washing the sheets and remaking the bed. Do I recommend Michael? Well I’m afraid to do so because I don’t want him to book up!! But yes, my dogs were healthy, happy and literally quite spoiled. I hope that he is free the next time I need to take a trip, but will probably book my trip around his schedule!!! Thank you Michael for taking such good care of my babies!! You made my time away stress free.

About: I’ve been pet sitting for about 6 years and have raised three dogs of my own, so caring for dogs is truly second nature to me! I’ve worked with all kinds of personalities, reactive dogs, shy or nervous pups, and super energetic dogs, and I always take the time to meet them where they’re at! I’m very patient and pay close attention to body language and behavior, which helps me build trust, especially with dogs who need a little extra reassurance or structure! I stick closely to routines, make sure dogs get the right amount of exercise and mental stimulation, and keep things calm and positive! What really sets me apart is how much I genuinely care! I treat every pet like they’re my own and want both pets and their owners to feel comfortable and confident! I also make sure to send regular updates and photos, so you always know your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for! I work part-time, so pet care fits really naturally into my routine. I’m mostly available on Fridays and weekends, which means I have plenty of time to give pets my full attention without feeling rushed! I always put pets’ safety and comfort first. On dog walks, I use secure leashes and harnesses, pay close attention to my surroundings, and go at a pace that’s comfortable for each dog. I’m careful around other dogs, traffic, and anything that might stress them out! For drop-in visits, I make sure pets feel relaxed and happy in their own home. I follow your instructions for feeding, potty breaks, playtime, or medications, and I keep routines consistent so pets feel safe and comfortable. I also send updates and photos so you know your furry friends are doing well! I treat every home and pet like they’re my own, and I make sure both feel respected and cared for!

About: I grew up in a home with dogs, and have cared for my own as well as others. I have experience with large breeds such as Great Pyrenees and German Shepherd, as well as experience with small Chihuahua mixes, high energy herding dogs, and many others in between. I also have significant experience with farm animals (horses, chickens). My work is done entirely remote and is very flexible, so I am able to accommodate many schedules ranging from mid day into the evening. I take safety and trust seriously when caring for someone else’s pet. I always follow instructions carefully, and treat every visit with the same care I expect for my own pets.

FAQs for House Sitting - Minter

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 6,823 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Minter. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Minter walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Minter maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Minter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Minter. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
