“Jaclyn is our go-to sitter for our trips! Both of our dogs are so OBVIOUSLY well cared for when we return from our trips. My two dogs are loved just as much as our human child, so it means a great deal when I say that someone has 100% of my trust, and Jaclyn does!”

“Sammy was so great with our two boys!! We felt so comfortable leaving or dogs in her care and she sent us daily updates with pictures/videos! She was even able to get out picky eater to eat on schedule!! We will absolutely use her again!!”

About: I’ve been a volunteer at two different animal shelters, including Olympia‘s Joint Animal Services. I’ve worked with everything from tiny 4 week old kittens to elderly dogs, and I’m comfortable delivering some medications. As a former teacher and current volunteer educator I’ve passed many background checks. I’ve taken care of my own pets and those of family and friends my whole life, and I love getting to know new fur friends. I am currently working part time as a consultant so my pet care schedule is very flexible. I am available most weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Meeting someone new can be stressful for an animal, so I meet your pets with patience and attention to their needs. I strive to be a calm and safe presence although I am also happy to have fun and match their energy if they are looking to be playful.

“I have a super senior dog and she was calm and happy after Becky took care of her over a long weekend! My apartment was well kept too. I would definitely hire Becky to stay with my dog again.”

“Brogan stayed with my two dogs for five days as a house sitter. Brogan was great: he sent photos, my girls liked him and he left the house so neat, I had to ask which room he used. I would use him again.”

“Sydney was a great sitter! She communicated very well and took good care of my pup and place while I was gone. When I returned, my place was clean and my dog was healthy and happy! Would recommend to anyone! I have a large dog and she did great!”

“All good with Ariana! The puppies Chidi and Ellie had a great time playing with Ariana's puppies, everything was in good order when I returned, no complaints from the puppies! Thank you!”

About: I have 10+ years of experience taking care of neighbors, family, coworkers, as well as my own pets. I learn each animals routine and try to make them as happy as they can be while their owners are away. I’m experienced with dogs of varying breeds, sizes, energy levels, and ages. I have taken care of dogs that have just been born to dogs that need special medicine and nightly baths to be comfortable. I make sure that pets are safe and happy and will follow any instructions very closely. I can provide updates and pictures to the owners to give peace of mind. I do not have any children or pets of my own so my availability is very open and I can plan my schedule around the pets needs. I can make sure pets have constant care by giving them the right amount of exercise, playtimes, and check ins that they need. While in a clients home I can focus on maintaining the pets routine. I will treat every pet like they are my own and make sure they feel safe by following all instructions
“Ruby exceeded our expectations in caring for our Aussies. She came by to check in right before we left for our trip and provided us with regular updates and adorable photos. Our dogs were calm and happy when we returned, a testament to her exceptional care. She was diligent in cleaning up after herself and took the initiative to strip the bed and place the dog dishes in the sink. We couldn't be happier with her service and will undoubtedly book Ruby again for our future pet sitting needs!”

About: Animal lover here! I take very good care of dogs of all kinds as demonstrated by my volunteer and pet sitting experience. I have volunteered at shelters with scared dogs large and small, fostered and trained shelter puppies, was a babysitter for puppy raisers with Guide Dogs for the Blind and served client families as a professional pet sitter. My role for others' fur babies is to provide care so that they have their needs met in their parents' absence. I am a great surrogate parent! I like to keep dog routines continued to minimize stress on pets and their people. For parents that don't have the time or for dogs that can use additional exercise, I can take dogs out for walks. I have also been a cat mom of 4 at once and love cats too! I have my dog, Brodie, and my routine revolves around him. I make sure he gets the memtal and physical stimulation and exercise he needs to be healthy and happy. I want to help my clients and pets with this as well for their families. I have a fenced yard and very dog-friendly set up at home. At client's homes, I respect the space and help pets feel secure in their routines with attention and care.
“It always makes you proud when someone thinks your dog is as sweet and adorable as you do. Ami gave updates and photos throughout the weekend. I came back to a very happy dog and would definitely use Ami again!”

“Sarah was a great sitter for my high energy cattle dog. My dog also has separation anxiety and can’t be left alone for longer than 3 hrs at a time, it was great she was able to stay with him at my house the entire sit so he wouldn’t get lonely. She had Great communication and sent me pictures. I would book her house sitting service again!”

“Karen is great! She's stayed with our animals a few times. She takes great care of the animals, gives regular updates, and is very flexible! So definitely reach out and have her watch our animals in the future!”

“Tananda was great with Frito. Very communicative and sent me plenty of pictures. Left the house spotless and was real easy to work with! I would definitely recommend her.”

“I felt very comfortable leaving Ladybug and our home in Jackie’s care while we were away for a week and she didn’t disappoint! Came home to a clean home and happy pup! She has such a warm and positive energy and communicates well, I highly recommend her!”
About: I grew up helping my parents breed German Shepherds and Rottweilers, and spent my childhood surrounded by Huskies, Min Pins, Boxers, and Golden Retrievers. Over the years, I’ve personally raised several puppies—including a Jack Russell Terrier, two Corgis, and a Shetland Sheepdog—which taught me patience, consistency, and how to support dogs through every stage of development. I’ve completed training courses with all of my pets, working on recall and foundational commands like sit, stay, roll over, and fetch. I also have lifelong experience caring for cats. I’ve raised kittens, supported senior cats through their later years, and understand how important it is to move at their pace and respect their boundaries. Along with senior‑pet care, medication administration, grooming, and daily routines, my background gives me a calm, confident approach to animals of all ages, sizes, and personalities. A lifetime of hands‑on experience truly sets me apart and helps me provide reliable, compassionate care for every pet I meet. Pet care fits smoothly into my weekly routine because I’m currently a full‑time online student with a very flexible schedule. Since I’m not working outside of school, I’m able to offer care any day of the week with only a few time restrictions that shift depending on class requirements. This flexibility allows me to provide daily walks, drop‑in visits, house sitting, or consistent care for pets who need support while their owners are at work. I enjoy building pet care into my day, and I’m happy to adjust my routine to match each animal’s needs and comfort level. Before caring for any new pet, I always start with a meet‑and‑greet to understand their routine, personality, and any unique needs. I talk with owners about feeding schedules, reactivity, medication requirements, and comfort levels so I can follow their expectations exactly. In a client’s home, I maintain their established routines, keep pets calm and comfortable, and make sure their environment stays clean and safe. My goal is to provide care that feels familiar to each animal while giving owners confidence that their pets are being looked after with attention and respect.
About: Throughout my life, I have been surrounded by animals of all kinds, fostering a deep and intuitive connection with them. This bond has always felt effortless, as forming relationships with animals is one of my greatest passions. I have successfully trained numerous dogs to coexist harmoniously with family members, other pets, and small children. My fearlessness around animals has allowed me to interact with them without hesitation, and I have never been bitten. My approach is rooted in compassion, patience, and understanding, earning me the reputation of an “animal whisperer.” I currently have a lot of free time, and this would be my main priority! I am willing to put in as many hours as people need! I have an outdoor/indoor 18 year old cat who’s quality of life is amazing. She eats a very healthy diet, gets a lot of activity and socializing in, and cuddles all night long from my partner and I.
“Emma was the best! Left for a 4 day weekend trip and left the keys to the house to her. When I came back, it was like she was never there. House was in great shape, Thor was a happy pup, and she gave me continuous updates. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks, Emma.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mima walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mima maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mima choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
