“Amazing as always!! I couldn’t recommend Carrington enough for any service you might need. She stayed at our house while we went out of town for a week and kept in constant communication with us the entire time, not to mention the amazing photos she takes!! Our house was so clean when we got home and it was such a relief to know we could trust our pups were in good hands while we were away!”

“Christina did a wonderful job taking care of my two dogs and cats overnight. She made sure they were well cared for, and I came home to happy pets and a home left just as I left it. It gave me peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“A 10 star review! Tyler stayed in contact during our trip and everything was excellent. Our active Lab got plenty of play and run time, complete with photos and quick notes. Arrived home to a pre cleaned house including bedding, towels and dishes. We’ve booked him for next two trips already.”

“Jordan was great!! He was patient with our neurotic dog and made sure she had a safe space when she was ready to interact. He followed all the petcare procedures for the dog, cat, and chickens. He watered the plants and left the house clean! We loved the pictures he sent us of the critters and the ongoing communication while we were gone. Definitely recommend him and would use him again!”

“Lauren cared for my large and in charge separation anxiety riddled girl in my home for five days and it was such a blessing to know my pup was safe and happy in her own home! Lauren is very conscientious and took great care of the dog and my home and I will definitely book her again!”

“Aicha was fantastic! She stayed over at my house with our baby for 4 days and was so responsive, respectful, and loving to our kitty! The house was in good shape when we returned and she sent us consistent images throughout the stay to show off how much fun she and the kitty were having. We would rebook (and did!) at any time. Thanks Aicha!”

“Kay did a wonderful job with my nervous and needy dogs. She sent me lots of pictures and discussed any possible needs. I have used rover sitter before and have loved them and the service but I believe Kay to be the best! Here knowledge and love of dogs put me at ease!”

“I would like to thank her for taking care of my puppies they mean a lot to me. This young lady did everything she said she was going to do and everything we talked about.”

“Jillian was wonderful! I always hate leaving my pup, but she sent lots of photos and kept us updated on how he was doing. She played and ran around with him. She also was very clean and the house looked great when we returned. I’ll definitely be having Jillian again in the future!”

“Sienna took great care of my house for 3 days. I have a large property with lots of plants, a large dog, and two cats. Everything was in tip top shape when we came home and she took so many cute pics of the animals. We will definitely trust her with our house and our fur babies again!”

“Ryan is wonderful with our pets! He is able to handle our 92 pound hyper 10 month old lab and our 15 year old anxious chihuahua. Ryan communicated the perfect amount with us during our trip and left our house in the same condition as when we left. We already have him booked for our next vacation! Thanks Ryan!”

“Whitney was incredibly responsive and easy to book with. Very flexible around a schedule change need. She took amazing care of my boys and home. Couldn't have been pleased with her/her service. Thank you!!”

About: I have tons experience with animals of all kinds. I’ve taken care of all kinds of dogs growing up and have pet sat and dog walked for many families I have owned dogs, cats, bunnies, and even a Guinea pig. I currently have my own fur baby a cat named Bonnie. I have weekends off so I have much free time to play and walk your pups. I also have evenings off. I even have random days of the week off but it depends, you will just have to ask and I will let you know. I do not offer in home services at my home just dog walking, but I will happily help walk your fur babies. I will walk them around your trusted neighborhood or where ever you choose.
“Excellent communication and humorous commentary. Our babies were well taken care of and they are not the easiest to warm up… they loved Dylan from the start! Will use him every opportunity we can. Thank you!!”

“Misty was great, everything we could have hoped for. Jake, Shado, and the kitties couldn’t have been happier. Would definitely recommend Misty if you’re wanting a worry free vacation.”

About: I've been around pets my whole life. When I was little, we had a mini labradoodle named Roxy and a cat named Snickers. I remember watching Cesar Millan and training Roxy to sit and to heel while walking. As I got older, we got more cats that ended up having kittens, and at one point we had 12 cats! Now, when I'm home from college, I help take care of two golden retrievers and a poodle that we have, as well as cats and chickens. I have a big heart for animals. I enjoy petting them, playing fetch with them, making sure they sleep well at night and feel loved. It would be an honor to meet you and take care of your pets! For the summer I'm currently studying for the MCAT which I take end of August. Because of that, my schedule is pretty free, and I don't have any job or school responsibilities to pull me away from giving pets the best care possible. I'm available to hang out with your pets while I'm studying, and make sure they have everything they need. Our poodle at home is getting old and has Cushing's disease, which makes her bones quite fragile. As such, I would prefer to watch your pets at your house. I'm happy to walk or play fetch with dogs, pet your animals, feed them and make sure they have water, and whatever else you do to keep them happy.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mello walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mello maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mello choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mello. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
