“We recently had to board our dog, Coco, with Joyce on very short notice due to a family emergency. We can’t thank her enough for her incredible care and support during this difficult time. From the moment we dropped Coco off, it was clear she was in good hands. Joyce was attentive, kind, and made sure Coco felt comfortable and loved. We truly appreciate the extra effort Joyce put into making our pup feel at home. We’ll definitely be returning for future boarding needs. Thank you, Joyce, for being such a wonderful host!”

“I was very happy with the care our dog received while with Svitlana. I received pictures and updates. He was so happy when I arrived to pick him up. It almost appeared as though he didn’t want to leave. I will be booking with her again!”

About: Hello, my name is Pam, I am a current pet parent who lives in Carroll County, MD. I have a passion for animals and their care. I would love to assist you with the care of your pets as well. 😀 I have been caring for pets in my community, since I was very small. I have personal experience taking care of my own pets at home, keeping their cages and clean and emptying and maintaining my cats litter boxes. I have several pets, l have a hamster and a cat, as well as two Guineapigs. I give them lots of treats. Currently, I am looking to provide pet care and assistance to those in my community, part-time. I would be able to provide care and support to people, working around 18 hours per week. I will be working 4.5 hours daily. 11AM-2PM or 5PM-9:30PM. I plan to work for now as a pet sitter, mainly for cats and other small animals, including small dogs, since it will be in my apartment, which is on the smaller size.
“I felt at ease with Katiuska taking care of our Sushi and Sashimi. She was very accommodating to our request though it was very short notice. She sent pictures daily. She responded to our texts promptly. My fur babies looked happy, and comfortable. If they're happy, I'm happy.”

“Bobbi was amazing and one of a kind. I have no worries when she watched my baby boy. She kept me updated with photos, open communication, and shared videos throughout the few days which made my mama's heart worry less. I will not hesitate to rebook her. I joked that I wanted to stay because of her welcoming, sweet presence. Absolutely genuinely will rebook Bobbi. Chance will be so happy to come play with her 2 little lovely girls again!”

“Ashley and Joshua are very sweet and my pup was happy staying with them. I enjoyed seeing photos of her while I was away. This was a first time hiring someone to look after my dog. I will definitely use them again.”

“Absolutely outstanding! Keith was fantastic with my dog and a dramatic improvement over my past experience with previous sitters. My dog got plenty of exercise, lots of attention, and I got a happy and healthy dog back with no problems. I'll be booking with Keith again and strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a good sitter.”

“Couldn’t be more grateful for finding this family. Imer and Michelle are the best. We are so happy to have them as neighbors. Our dogs loved them. Imer sending update for our dogs two or three times of a day.”

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life. My childhood cat lived to 22, and I grew up with Golden Retrievers, including helping care for a litter of puppies. I also worked as an assistant manager at a large pet daycare facility and now have two rescue dogs of my own. I’m very active and love walking, so I’m happy to give dogs plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention based on their needs. Pet care fits well into my weekly routine. I work part-time in a flexible office role and can also work remotely, while I am building my real-estate career. That gives me the ability to plan my schedule around walks, drop-ins, feedings, playtime, and staying consistent with each pet’s routine. In my home, pets are treated like family. I have a fenced yard, a large back porch, a walkable neighborhood, and a park nearby for walks and playtime. My two rescue dogs are used to sharing the furniture, so visiting pets will have plenty of comfortable places to relax and feel at home. In a client’s home, I follow each pet’s routine closely—feeding, walks, playtime, medication instructions, and any house rules—while keeping you updated with photos and messages. As a former college coach and admissions counselor, I have spent most of my career in trusted, responsibility-heavy roles, and I bring that same attentiveness and care to every pet.
“I was very very pleased with Audrey. I paid extra for her to pick up/drop off Chace. I had never used that service and it was so convenient; especially when you are traveling or on a time constrain. Chace loved his stay and got along well with her pup. Audrey sent daily updates and pics during his stay. I would definitely hook with her again.”

“Brandon was the best with our Cooper! He gave daily updates with photos and videos. Has a great big back yard for pups to play in. Cooper came back super tired and super happy! Will definitely be booking again.”

“It was my third time with this family. Would give 10 stars if it would exist! My Standard Poodle was well taken care of. I had a full report with pictures, meals. We definitely will be back!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - McSherrystown
Our pups are two years old and this was the first time for boarding or being away from home. They are our children and so we are picky about who we trust to leave them with. Her veterinary degree and willingness to do a "meet and greet" first, put us at ease. She sent photos and updates everyday and kept in contact. Everything went smoothly from beginning to end and we will definitely use Silvia and Roberto in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their McSherrystown home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your McSherrystown.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your McSherrystown sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in PA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
