About: Second Chances: How a Rescue Dog Opened My Eyes I never set out to build a pet care business. It began when neighbors asked me to care for their pets during the off season from my work as a private swim instructor. I quickly discovered how much I loved it. Not simply because I enjoyed animals, but because I understood how much trust it takes to leave someone you love in another person’s care. After moving to the Bay Area, I began building a life that feels more intentional. Smaller. Better. More personal. Then came Marley. Marley was a rescue dog whose owner wanted him to experience some of the things he had never known. We asked if we could take him along on a road trip through Yosemite, Big Sur and Carmel by the Sea. When Marley discovered the beach for the first time, you could see it in his face. Curiosity. Excitement. Pure joy. That experience stayed with me. It reminded me that caring for an animal is about more than keeping them fed and safe. It is about noticing who they are, understanding what makes them comfortable and, when appropriate, giving them experiences that bring them joy. I have also always loved photography, and over the years I have found myself photographing the animals in my care. I especially love capturing the unplanned moments that reveal their personalities. About: Hello! My name is Lyanne and I have been in the bay area for 7 years. I am currently developing ocean literacy curriculum for National Geographic with a flexible schedule which allows for me to be available as needed for your pet care needs. Attention to detail and communication skills are very important to me. I have always been an animal lover and have grown up with dogs my entire life. I have extensive experience with senior dogs, administering medication, and I understand the patience it takes to work with fearful/timid dogs. While caring for your dog I will send updates via text messages with pictures to ease your mind and let you know that your pet is in the best care possible. I have cat sat for the past 3 years through word of mouth and love creating deep bonds with the animals I care for. Long walks or fun play, keeping their schedules regular is my goal. I will tend to your pet throughout the day since this is my time off and I would not be working. This means, early morning wake up, 30 minutes to an hour walk, 30 minute rest, feeding, followed by relaxation and play until noon. At around noon, another walk (30 minute) and/or play or relaxing depending on energy level of the dog and finally evening, another walk and/or play. If you have a yard, there would be intermittent outdoor time throughout the day, especially as some dogs love to sunbathe, smell flowers, or chase lizards. Basically, I will tend to their needs and make them feel as comfortable as they could be without their owners around. I can take your pet on walks 2-3 times a day (less or more if you would like) and tend to their needs. Since I will be doing this during my time off, I will mostly be home with the dogs (at most 2-3 hours away total doing groceries or going to gym). I can crate your dog if needed, but they will mostly be with me. If there are parks around, I will gladly take them there.
