Brenda was exceptional with our Frenchie and kitty. She stayed in our home overnight and kept our home spotless. She was great with dog taking her on walks and potty breaks. Returning mid-day to walk and allow her to relieve her self. She administered the medications as required. We were very fortunate to find Brenda, and highly recommend her.

She is a true gift for people who don’t want to leave their babies or have a fear of the unknown of traveling without them… Kimberly cared for our senior pitbull, cat, and hamster for 5 days while we were out of town and stayed in our home. She also gave our dog his medicine 2x a day & watered our plants..She sent updates and photos daily and responded quickly to my messages… we are very picky with our pets and have some odd routines with our pets as the cat and dog have to be separated and our dog can be very needy due to incontinence and separation anxiety… we felt really comfortable with Kimberly and after retuning home I can tell she gave our babies a lot of love because our dog acted like we had never even left, he was bouncy and happy instead of his usual moping like he has done in the past after boarding or staying with family and she left our house clean with almost no trace she was here.. this was a great experience and I 100% recommend her.. I wish we had found her years ago.. there are no words to describe how happy & grateful we are.. will definitely be using Kimberly again!

About: Living in the same area for 20 years, I grew up taking care of neighbors and friends pets, from cats and dogs to birds and bunnies. I grew up with two labs, later 3 rescue mutts, a turtle and now I have a cat of my own. I’m experienced in bathing, feeding, and giving medicine to pets. I’ve house sat for 4 years now, taking care of plants, pets, mail and packages. I’m confident in my ability to care for animals of any kind and all levels of care as well as multiple at a time. I currently work park time Thursday-Sunday as a waitress, manager, and bartender and am in online classes. I’m looking to care and tend to pets mostly during the weekdays and mornings. I have a cat of my own so his space is a priority of mine. To ensure that he feels safe and comfortable I prefer to travel to clients homes where the pet being taken care of has everything provided for them. I ask my clients to write out feeding/medicine schedules, what the pet is allowed to have and not have including toys, treats, etc, as well as where they are allowed to be and not be, furniture, carpet, rooms, etc, and what they are allowed and not allowed to do. I ask my clients if their pet has any triggers & what I should expect from the pet, wether the pet be playful and hyper or enjoys sleeping most of the day. I also make sure I have the clients contact information on hand in case of any change in the pets behavior or emergency.

She was so sweet to them and they warmed to her immediately. My house was clean and tidy when I came home which was such a blessing. Would book again.

About: I’ve owned pets since I was born - dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, fish, and a hedgehog. And I’ve been dog sitting and caring for friends and families pets for as long as I can remember! My sweet 10-year-old retired greyhound recently crossed the rainbow bridge, but for over 7 years he was a big pet of my daily life - from feeding to walking to administering medication. I also own 2 sweet cats - a boy and a girl, both 2 years old. They are fed a specified amount twice a day, their nails trimmed regularly, and their litter box is scooped daily plus changed weekly. I am happy to stay with your pet overnight, drop in to play and supervise outdoor time, or walk them when needed! The more time with pets, the better!

Abby is amazing! She provided consistent updates and pictures while house/cat sitting. I never once felt uneasy or uncomfortable being away from my cats because I knew she was taking such good care of them. Even though my cats were too grumpy to fully engage with Abby, she respected their space and let them work up the courage to approach her. She also left our home very clean and organized. We highly recommend her for some peace of mind. We’re looking forward to booking with her again.

This was our first time using Rover so we had no idea what to expect. I've never had someone stay in the house but Tara took away all of those worries. She was AMAZING at being available last minute when our original Rover booking cancelled 4 hours before we were leaving on vacation. She was in constant communication, even when I probably sent too many messages asking how the dogs were doing :) I would highly recommend as she asked all the right questions and had the right personality to be patient enough with my dogs who are always a little anxious towards strangers.

So happy we found Zulema! This was our first time leaving out little boy with a sitter and Zulema made all of us feel at ease about it, came for a meet and greet before and the day of sitting went smooth and she kept a great company to our Skip. She is very kind, calm and friendly and we felt Skip was so comfortable around her and coming home to see him just chilled was everything. Hundred percent recommended and we'd definitely reach out again from now on! Big thank you from all of us!:)

About: I have essentially cared for a variety of animals my entire life. I have a great deal of experience with many different situations and needs. I am at your service to align myself with your pets needs and to be sure to be clear on expectations. It brings me GREAT joy in life to care for animals of ALL types! Happy to be of service to anyone in need of care!😊 I do petcare work part-time while also engaging in my mobile spa work on occasion. I desire to engage more in the petcare industry as I find it all so fulfilling! *DISCLAIMER:As much as I WISH I could.. I am unable to accept large or high energy animals into my home. I live in the same home as my elderly father whom I help care for. *I CAN however accept very small (mostly quiet) pets into my home as it is spacious but shared. *When housesitting requests are booked, I am able to care for a wide range of pets. Even most EXOTIC ANIMALS I have a great deal of experice with. My schedule is rather flexible if able to care for pets via housesitting. As much as I wish it was, my home isn't ideal. I HAVE noted over the years, MOST animals PREFER their own home verses an unfamiliar space. Especially kitty cats!=D ☆I am here to be sure your animal/animals are WELL loved and cared for. I have had such love, adoration, and respect for animals ever since I can remember. It is truly an HONOR to serve my clients and care for their adorable pets! My truest passion in life.♡

This was my first time leaving my babies Maggie and Milo for a trip and I was absolutely terrified of it. I was very worried about Maggie in particular because she has separation anxiety and doesn’t warm up to strangers. When Elizabeth saw that Maggie wouldn’t eat whatsoever, she went to the store and bought some food that helped with her appetite. She even took Milo to the vet since nobody else could take him and began administering his meds. I struck gold with Elizabeth who went above and beyond to gain their trust and take care of them. She also did all she could to reassure me and has won my trust. She took such good care of my dogs and I highly recommend her. Definitely will be having her dog sit my babies again when necessary!

FAQs for House Sitting - McEver

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in McEver on Rover is $25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,441 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across McEver. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McEver walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McEver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McEver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McEver. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
