“Maria was absolutely wonderful with my two kitties! One requires oral pills and one requires insulin shots. Maria learned their routine quickly and took amazing care of them. I have never had a stranger watch my cats before, and my cats are like my own children, so when I went overboard and made her a manual on how to take care of them, she didn’t make me feel like a crazy cat mom and was grateful and that I wrote out everything for her. She was punctual and did everything asked of her. I came home after a week long trip to two happy and healthy kitties!”

“Patience took the best care of my kitties while we were away. Not only that but took care of the house and mail, and also brought toys and treats for my cats and a very sweet Christmas gift and card for me. Totally above and beyond. I 100% recommend her!!”

About: I started pet sitting about 10 years ago. Overtime, I have grown my clientele. I enjoy my time with the animals. I watch and loving them.I am open to taking on many jobs. I have good amount of flexibility to my schedule. I am willing to work with families on what they are looking for in a pet sitter. I prefer to watch families pets in their own home when the family is away. I believe that this is best for the animals to be in their own environment.

“Natalie is amazing! I asked for her to help at the last minute and she didn't hesitate to help. She is very patient and was great with my stubborn dog. Thanks again Natalie!”

I started dog sitting when I was 17 years old. Every client that I have worked for has asked me to come back and I continue to work for them. I love all different kinds of dogs. I have worked with small and large dogs. Along with dogs as young as 1 year olds, all the way up to 14 year old dogs I am a college student, so I can be with the dog(s) while I’m home doing homework. I only go to school 3 days a week, and I only go for a few hours. So I will be able to spend plenty of time with your dogs! I have one fun and hyper dog, he has an electric fence so he loves to run around the yard. I love to take breaks from doing homework to play with him.

About: It seems as if I've always had a cat or dog or both since I was in grade school. At this time I have many kitties and one dog. Some of my kitties are foster kitties. Some I can pet and others I enjoy from a distance. I have 1 dog named Frannie. She is possibly a Rottweiler shepherd mix. In the past I grew up with a standard poodle. I have had a shepherd mix, another Rottweiler mix and a pit mix. I have seen all my dogs and cats thru to the rainbow bridge. I have fostered a litter of labrador puppies. That was fun! I currently help my mom with her pug mix named Chloe. I am currently working part time at a pre-school. I have Mondays, weekends, holidays and the summers off. I work until noon Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays until 3pm I would need to make sure your pets are cared for before I go to work @7:15am. I have a neighbor who helps me let my dog out while I'm at work, so I would be free after work to check on your animal(s). I would then need to come back to my house and take care of my animals and then go back to check on yours. I could do that as often as needed and then longer thru the night. I anticipate every situation to be different so depending on the need. I would be able to keep kitties in my spare bedroom. I have a large screen door to put in front of the bedroom door to keep them separate from my animals if needed. I am flexible to what the needs may be
“Shelby was incredible to work with. She was so communicative, responsive, and kind. She sent us photos and gave great updates. Will absolutely be hiring her again in the future. Can’t recommend her enough!”

About: Hi everybody! My name is Landri and I am a fur mom, aunt, sister, friend, and god-mom to many fur babes. I grew up with indoor and outdoor cats and dogs my whole life and have always had a love for animals and their unique personalities 💕 I currently have a fur baby named Denver who is a half lab/half golden, and he is 90 pounds of love & a little bit spoiled (judging by the amount of treats & toys in our house that he would love to share)! He loves all animals and would be happy to help me take care and have fun with your fur babies. Aside from having my own dogs and cats, I have helped to take care of my family’s, friends, and co-workers pets over the years. I have a big yard that will give your pet(s) plenty of room to run and play and am happy to accommodate to any needs they have. Having a fur baby myself, I understand the importance of having someone who will be reliable and treat your pet like their own. I will happily send photos and updates daily so you don’t miss them too much and know they are in the best hands. I do work during the day (M-F), but my boyfriend who is also a pet lover works a swing shift and has 4-5 day breaks and/or a mostly opposite schedule from myself. I have cared for pets of all sizes and breeds and love each and every one! I look forward to meeting you and your loved fur babes!

About: I have taken care of both dogs and cats for family, neighbors, and friends for the last 6-7 years. I have more experience with dogs— ranging from all sizes and ages, however I love cats and never say no to a feline friend as well! Expected care for the animals from me has included daily walks, feeding per directed schedule, hanging out with them, medication administration as needed, and cleaning up after them after an occasional “oopsie”. Most of my experience has been staying in client houses, so I am comfortable with that, however I am also more than confident with driving back and forth for potty breaks throughout the day. I just completed grad school and I am a certified Physician Associate working in the ER. My work schedule is typically 2-3 12h shifts a week— flipping between day and night shifts. My schedule for pet care is more client-based than anything and I will always work my personal schedule around taking care of the animals needs first. I prefer keeping the clients pets in their homes for their safety and comfort. I will always put them on leashes unless they are fenced in and I will go outside with them initially to keep an eye on them and to feel out the surroundings myself.
“I contacted Jess (thru Rover.com) again because she was great w/my 2 cats the last time and I'm so glad I did. It was wonderful to come back and see that neither of them were traumatized at all! She contacted me every day and provided me with pictures. Jess went above & beyond and took great care of them! I left her a good tip and she deserves every penny AND MORE!!”

Following the clients’ plan and/or instructions is my priority.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - McDonaldsville
From the moment of booking with Patience to the very end with communication, she was nothing but precise, thorough, and timely with response. She was eager to meet Nelson my cat and agreed to a meet and greet. She took notes, during the meet and greet, which meant a lot and showed that she truly does care and want to do a good job for animals while we are away on vacation. Our cat Nelson can be very shy with new people, but he warmed up to her and while we were away, we got the cutest pictures of our kitty. I would definitely recommend patients to anybody who wants peace of mind, knowing that their cat is taken care of while they’re away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
