Meredith was great! She met them a couple of times before we left, which really helped our older dog with anxiety. She connected so well with the pups. She kept us informed with pictures and videos, so we knew our pups were in good hands. She treated our home with care, too, which was appreciated. We would happily book with Meredith again!

Meredith has been absolutely incredible as our house and catsitter over a week-long trip. We have a somewhat complicated situation (some of our cats don't get along), and she's navigated that wonderfully. She provided many pictures and detailed summaries to help us understand how they've been doing and has been responsive to suggestions or requests along the way. Meredith really went above and beyond, and I would happily recommend her services and hope to work with her again in the future.

We absolutely love Amy! Honestly, we were far away from home and are pretty sure our dogs were sad when she left and disappointed to see us. She gives expert walks, did bath time - which is a total circus, and even cleaned some of our muddy blankets. I will call Amy anytime we leave! She’s the absolute best.

Alphine took such incredible care of our dog, Luna, and our cat, Dullahan! She was clearly comfortable with larger dogs and even went above and beyond to walk Luna despite our complicated requests around her leash reactivity. It was easy to communicate with Alphine throughout our trip and we felt confident our pets were in good hands because of it. Alphine also took incredible care of our home. We can’t recommend her enough!!

About: Pet sitting was one of the first jobs I ever took up. Along with my family being a pet owner household, I’ve taken care of many family members pets and also friends of family pets. I am a reoccurring pet sitter with almost everyone I’ve helped before. I’m currently a full time college student, but my classes only take up so much of my time. I have classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 10am-11am. In October, I will start a new class on Tuesday/Thursday from 1pm-4pm. If I’m requested to stay in the home, I will move whatever I need to do to fit comfortably around me keeping your pet company. It’s my responsibility to meet the needs of the owner and their pet!

Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!

About: Hey hey! I love all animals but I'm partial to dogs. I have 2 of my own, both chihuahuas. They're 6 and 7 years old. I've had pets all my life. Large and small. I have quite a bit of experience in training and I love working on puppy manners. I have a soft spot for small dogs and pit bulls! I can't wait to meet your babies! I currently am home full time. I am a hobby bakery. I need to get moving around more so I'm available to meet up to 2-3 times per day every day and weekly if needed. I don't usually care for other people's pets in my home. I prefer to do drop in visits and sit in the home of the owners.

About: I've been working at a doggie daycare called 4 Paws Unleashed in Des Moines Iowa for the past two years, and I recently moved to the area. At that job I trained puppies and took care of sick and elderly dogs on a regular basis. I just moved to the area and am still in the process of looking for work, so I currently have plenty of time to get to know your angels! I will care for your animals however you wish. They always come first. When you care for and train animals you need much patience, but most of all lots of love.

About: I’ve been a proud dog mom for over 25 years and currently have two spunky Chihuahuas who keep me laughing every day. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities—from tiny lap dogs to big bundles of energy. I know how important it is to feel at ease while your pup is with someone else, so I treat every dog like family. Whether it’s walks, belly rubs, playtime, or just cuddling on the couch, I make sure your furry friend feels loved, safe, and cared for. I also have experience with senior dogs and pups that need a little extra patience or medication, so you can trust they’ll be in good hands. At the end of the day, I believe dogs are the best friends in the world, and I can’t wait to meet yours! 🐶❤️ I'm currently working part time so I'll have plenty of time to spend with your pet. I also live close by to Tanger outlets and the Burlington area. I have a yard for my dogs to run, play with toys and fetch. Also I enjoy walking trails at the local parks or arboretum.

About: I’ve been caring for pets for over 12 years and have experience with both dogs and cats of different ages, personalities, and needs as well as turtles, hamsters and birds. I’m patient, dependable, and attentive to the little details that help pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I understand how important it is to follow each pet’s established routine, from feeding and exercise to playtime, medications, and any special care instructions. I also have extensive experience caring for senior and special-needs pets, which has taught me to be especially observant of changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, and overall well-being. I treat every pet with the same level of care and attention I would want for my own. I am open to caring for other pets as well including reptiles, rodents, birds etc! ❤️ I’m currently in my last year of nursing school, so my schedule varies throughout the week, but I plan my availability carefully and only accept bookings I know I can reliably accommodate. I have flexibility for drop-in visits on many days and will communicate clearly about my availability before booking. When possible, I’m happy to coordinate visits around your pet’s usual feeding, medication, potty, and care routine. I care for every pet as if they were my own and take the responsibility of being trusted in someone’s home seriously. I carefully follow all feeding, medication, exercise, and care instructions and do my best to maintain your pet’s normal routine. During each visit, I make sure they have fresh food and water, a clean and comfortable environment, and plenty of attention based on their individual needs. I’m very observant and will communicate promptly if I notice anything unusual with your pet’s behavior or well-being. I’ll also provide photos and updates so you can feel comfortable knowing your pet is safe and well cared for while you’re away.

FAQs for House Sitting - McDade

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,315 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across McDade. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McDade walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McDade maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McDade choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McDade. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
