“Thank you Brooke! We enjoyed our weekend getaway without having any anxiety how our dogs were doing. They were comfortable with you from the moment we left. Even my stubborn dog! Appreciated the updates and photos! We will definitely be booking you again!”

“Darlene was fantastic with my pets! Received regular updates whileI was out. The house was tidy when I got home. I would definitely trust Darlene again. Highly recommend!”

“I can’t recommend Jelinna enough to watch over your fur babies. We felt at ease the whole time we were away knowing our pets were in good hands. Both of our animals can be a little temperamental in their own ways, and she navigated that wonderfully and became quick friends with our monsters. Communication was wonderful and she left our home in perfect shape. A+++”

“We had just moved to the Cape Coral area from New England and had an opportunity to visit with our littlle grandsons in Orlando just after our move. We found Konstantina (Casey) on Rover and she came over for a meet and greet with our very stressed, older Border Collie. Cali Mae instantly fell in love with Casey and agreed to care for her in our new apartment. They had a great time together, Casey sent us several daily pictures and updates about their walks and the fun they had together. We would highly recommend Casey and team to care for your pets. They are the best!!”

“I cannot begin to say enough about Debra. From the second that our boy Rhody met her, he was completely attached to her. She told me that she loves senior dogs, but you can just tell she truly loves ALL creatures, young and old, big and small. I cannot stand leaving Rhody, but I was completely comfortable leaving our baby in her care. She assured us that he would be well taken care of, and loved on and he definitely was. He takes many different vitamins & medications and she followed my every neurotic note to a T, lol. She provided pictures and sent texts and answered calls, and made us feel completely comfortable. I cannot express the gratitude I have, she’s an amazing human being & lover of animals. We feel so very blessed to have found her.”

“My cat has bad separation anxiety, and Ahjinae did a great job with him while I was away. She provided updates and photos when he came out from his hiding spot and she played with him and gave him attention when he allowed. She was super responsive and flexible as well when scheduling and making arrangements. I will book her again!”

“David provided house sitting care for my dog. He sent pictures and texts every day to give me the piece of mind I needed. Mollie was in good hands and I would highly recommend. He is just starting out and needs to get some repeat customers. I will be hiring him again.”

“Elizabeth was fantastic!!! She kept us up to date with our girls and gave them extra special care while we were away! They got treated to some pup cups, car rides and park days! We also had an issue with our AC during her visit and she helped coordinate the repair men since we were out of the country! She is quick to respond and I felt so good knowing my girls were in good hands! Highly recommend and will definitely be rebooking for our next vacation!! Thank you! :)”

About: CLEAN, NON SMOKING, HOME – Private Fenced Yard ~ Dog sitting is part of my business called Gail’s Personal Assistant Services. Please INCLUDE A CONTACT NUMBER IN YOUR INITIAL MESSAGE. I prefer communicating by phone or text. I have two small dogs, a Havashu and a Westie. My back yard is fenced and safe. I sit for many clients who come to the island and stay at inns that do not allow dogs. I have great references. It’s nice to know that while you are here playing, your fur-baby is also having a grand time. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover all my life. I should say I am an animal lover. I've had cats in my past also. My mother had dogs in our home, so I was raised with them. About my yard It is a fenced in yard, not too large, but big enough for them to play and run around. My experience administering medication Yes. As I have two pups of my own, I have experience in doing this job. I have administered medication to my client's pups when they needed it. My Overnight Stays An overnight stay is 24 hours. If you are gone over the 24 hour period for the one stay, then there is an additional charge for a day care stay. I have loads of time to play with your pups! I'm home most of the time except for some errands. They will love it here with my two! I let my pet run free and they are allowed to sleep with me. I can also crate your pet if that is how you have trained him/her.
“First time with Kashmir watch our pets and we were extremely happy with her. She took great care while she was here. She kept us informed as to what was going on and even sent pictures throughout the day. We recommend her to anyone else looking for a pet sitter and will be hiring her again.”

“We couldn’t be happier with the phenomenal care Barry provided for our dogs while we were away visiting family over Thanksgiving. He went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable, happy, and well-loved the entire time. In fact, our dogs are still wandering around looking for him—they absolutely adored him! Barry was reliable, communicative, and treated our pets like they were his own. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We highly recommend Barry to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy pet sitter. We’ll definitely be booking with him again! 🐾💛”

“Lia did a great job with our three big dogs. She was timely on the day we had the meet and greet. My dogs loved her. She was also right on time the day we left for our trip. She took great care of our pets and sent us lots of pics and updates. We had some major travel delays on our return date. Lia was completely understanding about our very late return.”

“Braeden did a wonderful job watching our two dogs, bird, and fish. Two of my pets needed medication twice a day, and she took great care of their needs. I felt very comfortable leaving them with her and would recommend her services. She also took good care of our home while we were away and provided companionship for our pets while staying in our home. Thank you Braeden!”

Yani was a great care taker for my 11 year old golden retriever and cat. She was gentle, kind, and loving to my dog who needed extra care. She went above and beyond to help and comfort him while we were out of town. I would not hesitate to recommend her and have her care for my pets again.

As of September 2026, there are 932 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Matlacha. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Matlacha walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Matlacha maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Matlacha choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Matlacha. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
