Jessica did a fantastic job dropping in to check on our cat while we were out of town. She was extremely responsive and sent us pictures and updates each day. Our kitty requires a little extra care since he has Asthma, and she administered his inhaler each visit. 5 out of 5 stars - thank you Jessica!!!

Kimberly was wonderful with Izzy! She is my baby and she made sure all her needs were met during her visit. I’m in the middle of potty training so she made sure that she both pooped and peed during her visit along with getting in some much needed exercise. Definitely will use Kimberly again :-)

About: I own two cats and have pet sit for friends before for their cats and dogs. I would love to help walk some dogs to get in more exercise! Weekends and later on weeknights sometimes. I cannot board pets, but am open to staying overnight if needed. I can walk dogs anytime of day on the weekends. I cannot board any animals in my own home due to owning two cats that would be stressed and I also rent a house. I have pet sit plenty of times for friends.

About: I'm not professional but my husband and I have been dog owners all our lives. We would consider it a great joy and honor to care for your babies. We can come by your home for a walk, water and feeding. Or if you just need someone to look in on you baby. We can provide transportation to and from the vets or groomers. We will also like to offer day-care for you as well we will offer flexible hours. We don't have a fenced in yard but I am very careful about keeping my babies on leashes and will do the same for you. We have reliable transportation and an excellent work ethic. We are only doing this for the joy of being around the animals. It's very relaxing and fulfilling. There's nothing more pure than the joy of helping an animal. We don't have children living with us but my granddaughter does visit but she's very good with dogs and is always supervised. She's a dog lover too. ♥️

From high energy puppies to senior pets needing extra TLC, I pride myself on providing personalized, dependable care that fits each pet’s unique personality and routine. About: My love for animals began on my grandpas farm in NJ. From as young as I can remember we always had pets, from dogs to farm animals to mice you name it we had it. As I grew and started my own family we have always had dogs and cats. I now work full time as a veterinary technician and I am also a full time dog trainer. I have been training dogs for over 20 years. I am a certified K9 handler and also certified in K9 CPR. I would go before I go into work in the morning and let your pup out, feed and do some enrichment. Then go during my lunchtime and twice in the evening. If I have client dogs at my home I generally do not allow my dogs to have contact with clients dogs. My dogs are crated where they feel comfortable

About: I have experience caring for German Shepards and other large breed dogs. I am very passionate about the care I give and making sure the dog's needs are met. I am currently in school to be a nurse and do not have any other job. Most weekends I am free and can work around my schedule to provide for your pet. Because of my dogs I own I will not allow other dogs to stay at my house due to my dogs being a little territorial and not knowing how they could react to a new dog on their land. In a client's house I will do just as instructed by the owner in order to keep their beloved fur baby safe and sound under my watch.

About: I have just moved back home for the summer before heading off to medical school in the Fall. For the past year, I have been dog sitting in Charlottesville, VA through the Rover app. I absolutely loved experiencing so many different breeds and interacting with different ages, temperaments, and neediness. While I am unable to dog sit while home, I figured dog walking and check ins would be a great alternative. This summer, I will not be working so I am available any time of day to care of your precious pets while you’re busy with other responsibilities! I am a very trust worthy individual and precious clients have trusted me with full access to their homes when needed. I will always be conscious of your pets individualized needs during the walk as well as securely closing up your home when leaving.

Amanda was a great sitter for my two German Shepard’s. She came to the house for a meet and greet and they immediately went up to her and they definitely do not like everyone but they liked her. She sent daily updates and pictures so I knew they were taken care of. I would highly recommend her and will be booking with her again in the future.

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life! To me, dogs are family, they deserve to be treated like like prince or princess they are. I’ll love your pup like my own, I’ll play with them, and I’ll make sure they’re in the best care possible! I’ve been mainly around small breeds (chihuahuas, Pomeranians, dachshund, and certain mixed breeds) but I will love any dog of any breed or size! I’ve always loved taking care of animals and giving them a disgustingly amount of love (haha). I’ve nursed puppies back to health and I’ve spent the final moments with senior dogs making the most of their final days. I would love to meet your dog and your family! I’m available almost always and can be flexible with my schedule, if you need me I’m there! I look forward to meeting your precious puppy and your family! :-)

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Martinsville stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Martinsville. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
