“When we did the meet and greet, I saw the way Lilian was with Zeus and I knew everything would be just fine. Jessica is so awesome and nice!! She was very detailed when she messaged me after each visit which really made me not regret leaving him at home. They will definitely be my “go to” if they’re available!!! Absolutely 5+ stars!!”

About: Please don’t allow my reduced star rating to deter you from booking with me! I unfortunately took on a couple jobs that I shouldn’t have with dogs with behavior issues and the owners ended up blaming me although I provided the best care possible. :( I am now more diligent in asking the necessary questions before accepting a job. I do this because I love animals and also to earn very much needed extra income for my family of 8. I have had pets all my life including dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, hamsters, frogs, and turtles. I also grew up in a small farm town for a good part of my childhood and was around a lot of farm animals. I currently have 1 dog of my own who is friendly and playful, as well as kids who can help keep your fur babies active and having fun. We live in a quiet neighborhood perfect for walks. I work from home, so I have a flexible schedule and can work with your needs. I have mostly open availability on the weekends and also for boarding or overnight care. I have a yard with room to run, although it isn’t fenced, we do have an outdoor kennel area and a dog run line. I’m also able to crate pets inside if needed. I can also take dogs for walks around our quiet, private neighborhood, or to the dog park for more room to run.
“I have booked Juanita 8 times now for drop in visits to take care of my cat when I am away. I must say she is great at what she does. Goes above and beyond in taking care of your pets! Absolutely recommend her!”

“Rachel, Dave’s partner, did a wonderful job looking after our senior special needs cat! She gave subcutaneous injections twice a day and gave us lots of pictures and updates about our sweet boy. She also accepted this job VERY last minute and we appreciate it greatly. Very friendly and professional - we will absolutely be using her as our go-to kitty sitter. ☺️”

About: I’ve been working with dogs my whole life, I fostered before it was a huge thing from the shelter. I volunteered at the shelter for over 10 years. I frequently watch my friends animals as well, up to 5 at a time including cats. I work full time but work 10-7 so I can easily come before or after work, and can easily pop in during my lunch too during the week if needed. I love all dogs, none spook me. I just want to give them some attention so they don’t feel lonely. I am okay with walking and crating dogs or whatever the protocol is you are okay with!
About: I’m a dedicated pet owner with hands-on experience caring for two corgis and two horses. I understand daily routines, feeding schedules, exercise needs, and the importance of patience and consistency. I treat every animal like my own and always prioritize safety, comfort, and trust. I am currently a full-time online student, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of availability during the day. My daily routine already revolves around caring for animals, including my two corgis and two horses, so adding pet care visits fits naturally into my schedule. I’m available for morning, midday, and afternoon walks or drop-ins, and I can easily accommodate regular weekly clients or last-minute requests. Because I’m home and managing my own animals daily, I’m reliable, attentive, and able to provide consistent care and timely updates. I provide attentive, routine-based care in both my home and my clients’ homes. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding, exercise, and any special needs, and make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I always provide updates so owners have peace of mind while they’re away.
About: I currently have one pet of my own, he is a bicolored Tabby cat named Juice! I’m really excited to use this app as a way to give some love and attention to pets with just the bonus of making some side money :) I live in a very nice area with a doggy park and plenty of trails and places to walk! I go on walks all the time here. I’ve had family pets my entire life and have had my own to take care of by myself so I feel I’m qualified to take on this responsibility. I started Rover around 4 years ago while living in NYC and dog sat nearly every weekend! I’ve had experience with all sorts of pets. From big dogs to small, chill to playful, old to young, etc. I’ve sat multiple dogs at the same time, cared for a deaf puppy, another puppy with a strict schedule who ate specific meals and took medications, and I’ve also sat a cat! My biggest thing is just going to be communication for the animals needs and the owners preferences, so I can do the job successfully. By that I mean what time the animal eats, how much they eat, how often they need to go potty, things the animal likes/dislikes, any concerns the owner has, etc. really just anything the owner thinks is important to know! Very recently I received a new job offer where I’ll be starting work at 4am and ending around noon ish. From this point forward I won’t be able to care for any animals that cannot be left alone for the length of a work shift, but if they can then I’m still excited to pet/house sit and care for animals in my free time! I like to make pets that I care for feel at home. They’re always allowed on furniture, they get plenty of love and play time. I love practicing tricks with treats and going on walks in my neighborhood. As for caring for an animal in the clients home, I care for the pet in a clients home just the same as I would my own, with of course the added respect to the clients home. I like to keep a moto of “leave it better than how you found it”.
About: I am a dog lover and have taken care of pets all my life. Family and friends have relied on me to help take care of their fur babies. I am an active retired person with plenty of time to work around most schedules and pet care needs. I am flexible and accommodating, and my schedule allows for dedicated time with your pet. I have a fully fenced yard and a friendly and mellow medium-sized dog. I like to take walks around the neighborhood and can walk your dog as desired. I treat your pet like my own and give them all the love and attention they want.
“Kaylee did drop in visits for my two cats during Thanksgiving week. She was communicative and sent daily updates. She helped my older cat stay on his special diet and mixed his medication mixed into his food. My younger cat accidentally got trapped in the bedroom and Kaylee let me know she hadn't seen him and got permission to go into that room to look for him. I'm so glad she found him! I appreciate Kaylee taking good care of my cats, especially over a holiday.”

About: I’ve cared for animals most of my life, including dogs, cats, and reptiles. I currently have two dogs, two cats, and a turtle, so I understand daily care, routines, and different personalities. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, litter boxes, administering basic medications, and caring for both energetic and shy pets. I treat every pet like my own and focus on keeping them safe, happy, and stress-free while their owners are away. I work Monday through Friday from 6am–2pm, which allows me to be available afternoons, evenings, and weekends for pet care. I’m reliable, punctual, and able to plan visits around consistent routines. I’m happy to accommodate feeding times, walks, drop-ins, or extended care after work and on days off. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow all care instructions closely, keep pets secure during walks and home visits, and maintain a calm, clean environment. I’m attentive to behavioral cues, ensure doors and gates are secure, and provide regular updates so pet parents feel confident and at ease while they’re away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
