About: I grew up with many pets. For example, I’ve had 6 birds, 3 hamsters, 1 dwarf gerbil, 1 leopard gecko, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and possibly more. I currently have 2 dogs. Both are rescues. Jasper is 2 years old and I’ve had him since he was about a month old if even that, and Raleigh who is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 2. Aside from the doggy babies, I also currently have a brown anole that I took in from Florida. His name is Tommy and I’ve had him for 4 months now. He was a baby when I found him. I also have 2 fish, Gumball and Penny. I personally believe all animals are babies. I’ve also pet sit for family members before. I’m currently working part time and I am also a freshman in College. I do have a good bit of free time, and because I don’t live alone I have people home to help take care of my furry and scaled friends, where as some people may need some extra help that I’d be able to provide! I was raised right. I’m respectful, do not cross boundaries, and know better than to disrespect clients (human and animal, of course!) I’m a big empath, I love animals beyond comprehension. I’m a vegetarian that’s working my way to veganism if that can show you how empathetic I am. I also cry while watching Ratatouille. I love walking, I love talking to animals, I treat animals as if they are literal babies because they are just too cute!
“Anh was amazing with Pico. She jumped in last minute and handled everything so thoughtfully - including some unexpected tummy issues and his occasional puppy chaos. She kept me fully updated the whole time and sent lots of great photos, which I really appreciated. It made such a difference being able to see how he was doing. Pico is used to being with me all the time, so social interaction is really important for him. Anh adjusted to Pico’s needs and routine and also made him part of hers - giving him so much extra love and attention. You can’t always guarantee that level of care when you’re away, and I’m so grateful I never had to worry. I would absolutely recommend Anh to anyone without hesitation!”

“Karima took excellent care of our dog Goose and our apartment while we were away for over a week. She was caring, responsive, and helpful throughout her stay. She sent us daily updates and was very professional. She left our apartment clean and Goose absolutely loved her! I would definitely book with Karima again and suggest her for any of your dog sitting needs.”

“Courtney was great! We felt very comfortable being away knowing that our pets were getting so much love and attention. We had clear and frequent communications and a plenty of pictures confirming all the good things happening. We'd (and our critters) would be very happy to see Courtney again.”

About: Growing up, we always had some kind of a pet, from turtles to baby chicks, puppies to kittens! We used to foster kittens as well growing up & since living on my own, I've fostered dogs and pet-sat any time we could. Love all animals & trying to make them feel happy & comfortable :) I work 7:30-2:30 or 8-3 in DC but after work & on the weekends, I'm always willing to help in any way they I can! We have a dog of our own, medium in size, who loves making new friends and two kids that adore giving love whenever they can.
“Another fantastic weekend for My Girl to be spoiled by the best Auntie’s around! Truly love all the pictures and check-in so that I can enjoy my time away from home, knowing that my girls are so loved on , get all the cuddles and I love especially love all the pictures !”

“Oh, I’m not quite sure where to begin. Owen is such an incredibly sweet, caring and kind young man! We’ve used Rover several times as well as neighbors and friends and family over the years to watch our dogs (we have a 1.5 year old golden doodle, a 7-year-old mini cockapoo, and a 12 yr old miniature boxer) we decided to take a last minute vacation to go see our daughter in North Carolina, which means we were gonna be a good 6 to 7 hours away as well from our dogs, which was nerve-racking and none of our usual people were available. In fact, I couldn’t find anyone available because of the short notice in the five star review arena. I was hesitant to book Owen because the Rover rating had him only like a 2 1/2 star review. But I read the comments and he had two other five star raving reviews and then just one pretty negative rating, but my gut just kept bringing me back to him telling me to give him a chance, so I did. Well you know the saying, “Always trust your gut?” Definitely didn’t fail us with Owen! Our dogs can be pretty intimidating when someone comes up to our dorm. They barrow and sound really ferocious and then they jump all over you be a handful. Owen took right to them and they took right to him! Oh, I forgot to mention the other thing I was nervous about with booking Owen is that he is male. My boxer is not usually a fan of guys whatsoever and he’s super protective if I’m the only one around and not only did he not growl or act standoffishat all towards Owen he seemed like he had known him forever! I honestly wish I could share the photos on here of that same dog Ling with Owen and one of the several photos he sent me. He did every single thing I asked 100% correctly! Which honestly that’s shocking because I leave a full one page document single spaced typed out for people staying at our house watching the dogs and I expect people to forget or missstuff it because it is a lot! Heck my husband and teenage son that live with the dogs full-time don’t remember everything that I want done. Lol Owen didn’t miss a single thing! On top of that, I also have Ringcameras all around the exterior of my home and he played with them and loved on them and they loved on him. In fact I think they even slept with him at night! Lol we got daily check ins from Owen and anything that he noticed was concerning or had questions on he messaged us. And was always super apologetic about disturbing us on vacation. He’s probably nice to a fault Ha! He also washed his bedding in the bedhe stayed in, put our dishes away and some other things which 110,000% is not expected at all! The other thing was shocking is whenever we leave even if family is watching the dogs the dogs will rarely eat and they were so comfortable with him they ate normally! Fortunately with us, we’ve never had any bad experiences with anyone we’ve used on Rover and I would have any of them back again! That being said, there’s just such a loving kind energy that comes off of him that the dogs pick up on so he will be my first call for our next vacation. My husband and I were so impressed with him. We’ve actually thought about reaching out to Rover and seeing if that one negative review could be removed because I get everyone has different experiences, but I just don’t know how there could’ve been such an enormouschange from that review to now is, it’s just not even his character or personality which you will understand if you book him which I highly recommend you do! He should be there with the other five star people, hands-down! So Owen, thank you so very much for loving our babies while we were gone and making us feel so so very comfortable that I don’t have to stress about leaving again! You are a kind soul and I know you had asked me for any tips or suggestions or feedback I can give you for the next time that you can improve on and young man I cannot think of a single thing and that is saying a lot coming from someone like me who is a perfectionist and OCD! We can’t wait to have you over again and I know Jax,Nahla and Montana can’t wait for you to come and stay again also!”

“Can't say enough about Bri and her care for our pups! This was her first housesiting with them and it went phenomenal! She was the best with updates and phots, she really ensures that she makes them comfortable. Highly recommend!”

“Gabrielle housesat for me and my golden retriever Dora for a week. She was wonderful with Dora. She handled Dora's medication and dietary restrictions with no problem. Every picture Gabrielle sent throughout the week showed Dora happy and healthy on her walks and getting her snuggles. Gabrielle was also an excellent house guest, leaving the house clean and tidy. She even watered my plants and vacuumed up copious amounts of dog hair so I didn't have to come home to that! She was very communicative and checked in with me in regularly or if anything was out of the ordinary. I would definitely use Gabrielle again and highly recommend her!”

About: Hi pet parents. My name is Helen, I'm 42 with a 2 year old miniature pinscher. Chase attends Dogwood Acres daycare once a week and loves other dogs. He has a great time playing with his "cousin" who is a 90lbs Ozzy Doodle. Chase loves to play, we go on several walks per day in our neighborhood. I also have a huge fully fenced backyard and a she shed to warm up in. I work from home a few days a week I walk my dog 2x per day. My dog is neutered and loves playing with other dogs. I have a fully wood fenced yard and an air conditioned “she shed” for dogs to hang out in. My home is dog friendly and full of dog toys.

“Once again, a complete and utter stressless vacation with Alex in charge of our senior dog and our place. So many great photos sent and updates given along the way. We couldn't ask for anyone better to trust with our special needs boy and our home! Alex is like family now- he even put up with our construction. 💙”

“Trishia was a great help during a time when I really needed it. I was at my niece's wedding far away from home, and she came to where I was staying so I could focus on the big event and spending time with my family. Trishia even brought treats for my dog and provided photos and updates. I highly recommend her to care for your pet.”

“Alexis was great! She communicated very well and made us feel at ease while on vacation. We returned to our house in tip top shape and received photo updates of our dog while we were gone. Definitely would rebook again!”

“We loved working with Anastasia! She stayed at our home with our dog for a week. She was a perfect and polite houseguest and took such good care of our dog. She sent tons of pictures, videos, and updates. We felt so comfortable and relieved on our vacation leaving our dog and our home in Anastasia’s care. We fully recommend working with her!”

“100% will book again and highly recommend Steven! Steven watched over my 16 year old cat with few health issues that required extra attention. On top of that, we recently lost another cat (her companion for 15 years) and she has been lonely and high stress. We were having second thoughts about leaving on vacation. Steven did an incredible job communicating during the entire trip. He provided daily summary of how she was doing, her appetite, her energy, meds etc. He honestly made our vacation 100% more relaxing and worry free. When we came back our cat was very chill and relaxed, a great sign that she had great company and that she loved Steven. I plan to become a repeat customer and 100% recommend him. Your pet will certainly be in great hands with Steven”

“Michael was an awesome pet sitter for my 2 kitties. Each time Michael visited them, he made sure to spend quality time with them. He even worked himself to get the cats to come to him. My girl cat, it takes patience with her as she is very scared and hides and Michael really wanted her to get some attention. There was a slight break in her when Michael wanted to stop by to feed them dinner with my approval even though he was only instructed to just feed them breakfast. Good job Michael and think you so much for being available to take care of them! I will use you again in the future!”

“Kathryn was great! My dogs were happy and not stressed when I got home. She sent several pictures which was so reassuring. She was also very respectful of my home. I highly recommend her!!”

Reed was amazing with our pups, kind, considerate, going above and beyond keeping the pups comfortable and maintaining the house. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lothian Woods walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lothian Woods maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lothian Woods choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lothian Woods. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
