“Kate was so awesome with our boys! She watched our vizsla’s while we were on vacation and they absolutely adored her. She was very punctual, sent us photos and updates, and gave all the cuddles to our pups. We will definitely be reaching out to her again for our next trip!”

“Skylar not only took exceptional care of my two cats (one of who decided to make several messes while I was away), but also braved the difficult snow and ice to check in on my pets! She's an excellent communicator, expert pet photographer, and I look forward to booking with her again!”

“Could not have asked for better care for my 2 cats. Very communicative, took actual notes during the meet and greet, totally conscientious and thoughtful. Left such detailed notes for each visit and numerous pictures that made me feel perfectly at ease being away. Could not recommend any higher, sincerely.”

“Amazing caretaker!!! Sent so many pictures of my kitty cat and was very communicative! Also agreed to the job pretty last minute and was very accommodating! Would definitely book Amanda again! 14/10 <3”

About: I have experience caring for pets of all ages, including puppies and senior pets. I’m patient, gentle, and make sure each pet feels safe and comfortable. I can help with basic puppy routines and give extra care and attention to older pets who may need a slower pace or special support. What sets me apart is that I treat every pet like my own. I pay attention to their needs, keep them calm and happy, and make sure you feel confident while you’re away. I also provide updates so you always know how your pet is doing. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I plan my schedule around the pets I’m caring for to make sure they get consistent attention, walks, feeding, and playtime. I have a flexible routine and make time throughout the day for check-ins, exercise, and companionship. Your pet won’t be left alone for long periods, and I make sure they feel comfortable and cared for. I’m reliable with timing and follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I always prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment for every pet in my care. I follow the owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, routines, and any special needs or medications. In a client’s home, I respect their space and keep everything clean and secure. I make sure doors, gates, and anything unsafe are properly checked so pets stay safe at all times. I create a calm, comfortable environment by giving pets attention, playtime, and rest as needed. I watch closely for any changes in behavior and keep owners updated so they always feel confident their pet is safe and well cared for.

About: I've been dog walking and caring for pets for 18 years while working other jobs. I come from a family that loves animals (my parents currently have 4 dogs and a cat that I often sit for). I'm not afraid of big or small dogs or their energy. I'm a grad student looking forward to helping pet owners when their lives get busy. I am thorough, thoughtful, great in emergencies, and love the outdoors. Thanks so much for taking the time to consider me! I am currently in grad school, and my schedule is flexible outside of Tuesday-Thursday 1-5:30pm. I work part-time, but I have spare time I'd love to spend hanging out with your pet, either outside for a happy pup walk or inside for a cat cuddle. I believe in treating people's pets as if they were my own. I respect every person and pet I interact with. Safety is a number one priority for all. I am comfortable in all kinds of situations due to my work experience. I'm calm, empathetic, and present when interacting with owners and pets alike.
About: Growing up we have always had at least four pets (2 cats & 2 dogs) as apart of our family. My parents always expected the kids to help out with the pets. On top of that I was known as the neighborhood pet sitter. When my neighbors went out of town I was always given responsibility to care for their pets and homes. Right now. I am working about 35 hours a week at HeartBowls Café in Sandpoint Idaho. Most of my shifts start around 8 AM and end by 5:15 PM. In my home and in my clients home I make sure to engage with the pets for quality playtime. I am always respectful and considerate of the environment around me.
“Allison took great care of my cat Trixie! I appreciate the time and attention she gave to my girl while I was out of the country. She also did an amazing job taking care of my home and left it cleaner than I did for her! Getting back from an international trip being greeting by my clean home and happy cat felt incredible. I would absolutely recommend Allison”

“Ashton was great! We have 2 normal dogs and one with some behavioral issues. She kept everyone safe and was very kind about following our instructions. So grateful she was able to help us out while we were hiking at Zion.”

About: I treat every pet like an individual, not just another booking. I take time to learn their personality, routines, and comfort level so they feel safe, happy, and genuinely cared for while you’re away. I’m patient with nervous pets, playful with energetic ones, and gentle with seniors who need a little extra attention. I’m a student with a flexible schedule, especially in the afternoons and evenings. I have plenty of time to give pets attention, exercise, playtime, and care. I care for pets in the comfort of their own homes, where they already feel safe and familiar. During drop-ins and walks, I follow their normal routines, provide plenty of attention and supervision, and treat every home with respect. I’ll make sure pets have what they need while keeping owners updated, with photos, so they can feel comfortable knowing their pets are in good hands.
About: I have hands on experience caring for pets of all ages, from energetic young animals to seniors who need extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable following structured feeding routines, administering medications, and providing attentive care tailored to each pet’s individual needs. I can care for a wide range of animals from dogs and cats to birds, hamsters, and beyond. I grew up on a farm surrounded by many different animals, which gave me a strong foundation in animal care, responsibility, and understanding animal behavior. I focus on keeping pets calm, comfortable, and stress free by caring for them in their own home and maintaining the routines they’re used to. Reliability, cleanliness, and clear communication are priorities for me, and I treat every pet and home as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I attend school and run my main business primarily remotely, which gives me flexibility to plan my schedule around feeding times, walks, medication needs, and overnight stays. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to be present, punctual, and attentive throughout the day and evening. I prioritize consistency and reliability so pets experience minimal disruption while their owners are away, and I’m comfortable adjusting my availability to meet each pet’s specific needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on maintaining their normal routine to keep them comfortable and stress free. I follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, clean litter boxes or habitats, administer medications if needed, and give pets the appropriate level of attention and companionship based on their personality. I’m respectful of each home and keep the space clean and secure while I’m there. For overnight stays, I make sure pets feel safe and settled, especially in the evenings and mornings when routines matter most. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners know their pets are doing well.
“Michelle did a great job communicating with me about the cats. Took care of them and gave good updates. Even though one of them was having a sensitive stomach right when I left she was good with keeping an eye on his intake and putting me at ease.”

“Aubrionna has watched our cat multiple times and we love her! She is reliable and easy to communicate with. She is always respectful. We use Aubrionna every time we travel and it's so great to know our cat is taken care of while we're gone. I recommend Aubrionna to everyone!”
About: I’ve been around dogs most of my life, from taking care of family dogs growing up to helping friends and family with theirs. I’ve also done plenty of house sitting and pet sitting over the years, so I’m comfortable taking responsibility for someone else’s pets and treating them like family. 🐾 I currently work as a Psych Tech at a hospital, and outside of my shifts I have a pretty flexible schedule. I’m also passionate about fitness and movement, so I’m always happy to get outside for walks, playtime, and adventures with your dog! I’m not currently able to have pets where I’m renting, but I have plenty of experience caring for pets in their own homes. I’ll follow whatever routine and instructions you leave for me — feeding, walks, medications, playtime, or simply giving them plenty of company and attention. Most importantly, I understand that trusting someone with your pet and your home is a big deal. I’ll treat both with respect and make sure your pets get plenty of love and care while you’re away. ❤️ I currently work as a Psych Tech at a hospital, so my schedule varies depending on my shifts, but I have multiple days each week where I’m available for pet care. I’m happy to work with owners ahead of time to make sure our schedules line up and their pets get the time and attention they need. Since I’m not able to have pets at my current rental, I provide care in the owner’s home. I’m respectful of both your home and your pet’s normal routine. I’ll follow your instructions for feeding, walks, bathroom breaks, medications, boundaries, and anything else your pet needs. I want them to feel as comfortable and safe as possible while you’re away.
About: My family has had Samoyeds all of my life and it turned me into a major dog-lover! I plan to get my own husky as soon as I graduate college, but in the mean time, I try to interact with dogs as much as possible. I now have a 7-year-old rescue who is my little baby. When sitting, I like to go on walks, runs, or play in large grassy areas to stay active. I am extremely responsible, never leaving pets alone and making sure that they are well-hydrated, fed, and entertained. I am comfortable and excited about dogs of all types, ages, and sizes. I’m a stay-at-home mama, so my schedule is pretty flexible and available! My husband is at home too so it’s easy for me to pop in and out as needed. I have a large grassy fenced in yard where doggos can sniff around and explore! There’s also a large grassy field right behind my house for fetch and getting all the energy out!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
