Angela did great with our bulldog! She stayed over at my house for a weekend and left the house as clean as when we left. She followed instructions very well and sent great updates throughout the day. She also reached out when she was concerned about our dog’s allergies and that was extremely kind of her! Would definitely book again!

Cassandra was amazing. She was so patient with my rambunctious pup and gave him lots of play time. She also was very attentive to my older dog and tended to her anxiety during storms that came through during her stay. Cassandra was very responsive, sent me detailed daily texts and photos. I know my dogs loved her because she told me how they cuddled with her. I highly recommend her and will definitely hire Cassandra again for my housesitting needs.

We needed a sitter at the last min. She came same day and did the meet and greet. She was very nice and the dogs liked her. For it to be her first time house sitting she did an excellent job. We would most definitely use her again.

About: Hi! I’m Roxana, and I’d love to care for your pet like they’re part of our family 🤍 Get $20 off your first Rover booking with the link below. https://www.rover.com/sit/roxanr15345 My husband Eric and I share our home with Sophie, our sweet 9-year-old Yorkie, who plays a big role in our pet-loving household. Sophie is an 8 lb rescue we adopted, she came to us anxious and unsure, and through patience, consistency, and lots of love, she’s grown into an affectionate, playful, and calm companion. That experience taught us so much about building trust with animals and meeting them where they are. We’ve even taught Sophie fun tricks like sit, shake, high-five, and roll over—proof that with the right approach, every dog can learn and thrive! In addition to caring for Sophie, I’ve had both cats and dogs over the years and have also looked after pets for friends and family. I’m attentive, patient, and genuinely love getting to know each pet’s unique personality and needs. Inside, pets are truly part of the family—whether that’s lounging on the couch or winding down before bedtime. We do ask that you bring a kennel or crate so your pet has a familiar, secure space to relax. I take the time to learn your pet’s routine, preferences, and personality so they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member! ✨ My schedule is flexible! I work from home 2–3 days a week (and even more during the holidays), which allows me to give your pet plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship. I’m happy to work with you to accommodate your pet’s routine. ✨ Safety & Comfort First Your pet’s safety and trust are my top priorities. We have a large fenced backyard for safe outdoor play, and I always supervise time outside. Sophie is never out front without a harness and leash, and we extend that same level of care to every pet we host.

About: Fur babies are family! They need love and patience. Growing up I had a Pekingese for 13 years and then a poodle mix for 12 years. So I learned at an early age the responsibility of caring for the family pet. My first adult pet was a mini lob rabbit which I had for 10 years. It had some medical issues in which required regular care from the local vet. A few years ago I was introduced to Great Danes and immediately fell in love! Zoe, my twelve year old Dane lived her best life. She went to parks, family gatherings, car rides, camping. She passed away last year at the age of 12 1/2. I am not ready for another pet just yet and now that I have some free time I would love to give others the sense of security by playing, loving and caring for their pet. I'm recently retired and have a flexible schedule. With that flexibility I have the opportunity to check on your pets or provide over night care with short notices. I have a fenced yard with lots of room for your pet to lay in the sun, run, stretch and play! For over night stays a crate might be beneficial depending on your pets behavior and comfort. For day to day visits I will respect your property and pet and follow your guidelines to ensure our pet friendly visit is successful.

Kendra was amazing watching my boys Oliver and Sebastian. Oliver is special needs and has epilepsy so he needs meds 3x a day. Kendra had no issue administering his meds and making sure my baby was okay and taken care of. she even let me know each time she gave his meds so my mind was at ease. She made me very comfortable as I haven’t left my boys with anyone before. I am so glad I found her and will continue to use her services because I know Ollie and Bash will be well taken care of.

About: Will provide all necessary care for your dogs needs. I’m married no children , have had pets all my life and I dog sit for my friends for years why not get paid for what I love to do. I had a cocker for 13 years, American Bulldog, and English Bulldog, current have a English Bulldog puppy. I am also in the medical field and will be able to handle emergencies if they happen. I don’t believe in animal cruelty and I feel sometimes people need to get out or have to run errands and the dogs shouldn’t have to be locked up when they can be loved on while the owners handle business. This is something I enjoy and not trying to get rich.

About: I have five+ years of experience in boarding, dog walking, daycare, and drop-ins. I've taken care of dogs of different breeds, sizes, and shapes. Many friends, family members, and neighbors have trusted me multiple times to look after their pets while they were away. Please allow me the pleasure of welcoming and caring for your pet! As a full-time worker, I have weekends and flexible hours after 5 pm during the weekdays. Despite this short stay, I guarantee that your pet will have a wonderful time with me. My hours of availability are after 5 pm on weekdays for drop-in visits and dog walking. On weekends, I am available for drop-in visits, dog walking, and house sitting for your convenience while you are away from home, knowing that your pets are in good hands. Every Saturday, I am available for drop-in visits and dog walking from 9 am to 4 pm, and every Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm I am available for house-sitting, drop-in visits, and dog walking. Have a need for my services? My schedule does not fit yours? I am open to arranging changes in the schedule to meet you and your pet's needs. When I am a house sitter or drop-in visitor at a client's home, I will follow all detailed instructions left by the client so the pet is safe. I will contact the client when I will be arriving at their home. I will keep in contact with them when an event occurs. As soon as I finish my time with your pet, I will notify the client of the time I will be leaving their home. Keeping great communication with the client helps ensure that everything goes smoothly. I will also ask about the pet and his/her needs. The owner can tell me, for instance, if their dog can be socialized with another dog or any behaviors to be watched during the walk. I will follow safety guidelines to make sure the pet remains safe during the walk, which includes sidewalk and street crossing safety. My first step is to ask the owner if they allow their pet to visit a dog park. I will ensure that I follow all dog park safety regulations, and always keep an eye on the dog to ensure no harm comes to them while in my care. As a professional, I want clients to know that their pets are in good hands whenever I work with them

About: I am currently a research veterinary technician and am in school to become a veterinarian. I have two dogs, a cat, and a bunch of fish at the moment. I've owned many other types of animals and many dogs in my life ranging in size, age, temperament, and breed. I want to add this to my resume and make some extra money on the side. I also just really love seeing everyone's furbabies and helping out where I can ;) I work full-time Monday-Friday but can be available after 4/5PM those days. Weekends are the most ideal to work with! I am in school part-time but will be taking the summer off. I will only be offering walking and sitting for pets in the client's home/other, not my personal home. Depending on the pet, I like going to parks, trails, and or whatever the client needs. Play time is also a must!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lancaster

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lancaster on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,838 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lancaster. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lancaster walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lancaster maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lancaster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lancaster. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
