“David is simply the best! We came to Santa Fe from Denver for a few days (Monday-Thursday) and we have 7 and 8 year old Border Terriers. Our male has epilepsy, and we do not leave him alone, so we hired David to watch them. David came on Monday night, Tuesday day, Tuesday night, Wednesday day and Wednesday night so that we could go out to dinner, go to the spa, etc. He stayed for several hours at a time, which was a big ask, especially since he has his own pup, but we couldn't ask for a better experience with him. He arrived on time or early, walked them, played with them, administered medications, gave them snacks and loved them! He sent us lots of videos and photos and updates, so we knew they were being taken care of and meds given, etc. He is also just a lovely person, and we really enjoyed getting to know him. He has a calming energy which was great for my boy with epilepsy. We won't hesitate to use him again if we go back to Santa Fe. Thank you so much David!”

I am able to be very present and attentive while in your home. I make sure to learn all you and your pet's preferences for expectations (like if they are allowed on furniture, or how they are with other dog's / social time). About: I'm honest, dependable, caring, kind and very experienced caregiver to animals with all sorts of needs. I tend to like animals more than humans, if I watch your dogs or cats, its likely I will also take out your trash and do your dishes because I'm like that. I'm currently retired, however I travel quite a lot, but when I'm not travelling, I have 100% availability 7 days a week and all hours. Pets tend to do well with routine, thus I would stay on whatever your pet's routine usually is... if your dog is active that is a +++ as we rarely sit at home and do nothing, but oif your pet likes to just be home then we can do that as well.

About: I have over 30 years of experience in caring for a multitude of animals including birds,reptiles, big and small livestock, equines and of course cats and dogs. With a background in dogs that has included an emphasis on sighthound breeds including Azawakh and Saluki. I have kept my own and helped care for others including some large, multi-dog households. I have also participated in many sporting events with them and become deeply acquainted with their sensitive natures and using force free, positive reinforcement methods to build trust and secure relationships. I also have experience and training working in professional settings where I worked with a wide variety of breeds and mixes, from large strong pitty mixes to various livestock guardian and shepherd mixes to northern breeds and spitz types.I can help provide training and consistency for younger individuals , as well as that needed consistency and attentiveness to mature beings. I have an avid curiosity about each dogs individual background and experience with all types of personalities.I also have experience giving medications to those with special needs or older individuals. My typical day starts with me waking early and getting kids ready for school, then taking them to the bus stop. After that I head out to my fathers place where there is a small herd of goats and do their feeding and care. Then I usually work on the house, helping with renovations and de-cluttering. This is very flexible, so there is plenty of time to schedule special dog walks, drop ins, and playtime for your pups, cats/kittens and other critters. For my own dogs there is a large fenced yard and we usually start and end the day with some zoomies, running fast and free together. It's about 2-3 acres with a 6 foot fence so we kind of have our own dog park to ourselves. I love hanging out and watching them run. The house itself has open spacious areas and having a friendly guest dog or two over can be accommodated. I can also easily crate dogs for added comfort and safety. There is also a second fenced area with a few goats. Utilizing both of these spaces it is possible to give animals room to run and play while providing safety and containment. My area is in a rural location, so going for walks around the property and along adjacent dirt roads is something to be enjoyed as well.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
