“Sadie really went above and beyond! Our dog unfortunately lost the ability to walk while we were out of town. Sadie was so kind to him and helped him move around and get outside. She really cared for him and made him comfortable. Thank you again Sadie. We are so grateful.”

About: Hello! My name is Rachel and I am a biologist and lover of all animals. I grew up taking care of a number of pets, including many dogs and have been employed as a veterinary technician in the past. I foster dogs on and off from our local shelters. I am knowledgeable and compassionate in the care of pets and look forward to meeting yours! I am currently working part time and am available weekends and some weekdays for potty breaks, dog walking, or house sitting! I am active and would love to have some furry company on my walks. I am open to watching dogs at my home if they are friendly with other dogs. I have a young heeler who loves making new doggie friends! I also can watch pets at your house and/or take the dogs for outings! I have my own car with plenty of space for transporting.
About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.
“Vanessa was great! Our dog loved her and she took very good care of him. She sent pictures everyday, and they seemed to have a great time together. We will definitely use her again in the future.”

“Alex stayed with our dog and two cats for almost a week. She was a fantastic communicator and we arrived home to a clean house and happy fur babies. Grateful to Alex and hoping she’ll pet sit for us in the future 🐾”

“We had a last minute need for an in home pet sitter for our 1 year old BC, who has separation anxiety, and our 12 yo BC. Tyler came to our rescue and was incredibly professional, communicative, and knowledgeable about dogs with high needs. He immediately established a calm and comforting rapport with our young, anxious pup and provided wonderful care for her first full day alone with a stranger as well as our senior. Our girls had some complex needs regarding management and he followed all of our requests to ensure their safety and comfort. I would absolutely recommend Tyler for in home pet care. We look forward to using his services again in the future!”

About: I’ve worked with all kinds of animals, including horses, dogs, and cats. Most of my experience is from owning pets and taking care of my neighbors elderly dog, and their granddaughters two French bulldogs. I am currently home for summer and have a completely open schedule, I am planning on getting a part time job within the coming weeks, and will adjust my schedule accordingly. I have house sat for many elderly people from my community, along with taking care of neighbors larger property. I have also trained four dogs of my own, and have experience helping other family members training their pets.
About: I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes and ages, as well as animals that take daily medication. I’m very good when it comes to applying the owners needs with consistency and lots of attention for their pets. I babysit part time and I have dog sitting clients outside of Rover as well. My schedule is very flexible and so it’s easier for me to meet new clients and their pets! I always make sure to ask my clients if there’s any additional info that I need to know. I’m a very aware and attentive person, that’s why I keep a good eye on the pets body language and everyday needs. Keeping up with their schedule is another important detail to me.
About: I have over four years of experience working at a doggie daycare, where I've cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. Through this experience, I've developed a strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, and common health concerns. I have experience working with puppies, senior dogs, reactive dogs, and dogs with special medical needs, including administering medications and monitoring for signs of illness or discomfort. Caring for animals is my passion, and I take pride in providing patient, attentive, and individualized care for every pet. Whether it's helping a puppy learn good habits, making sure a senior dog is comfortable, or giving extra attention to a nervous or reactive dog, I always prioritize each animal's safety and well-being. I am currently working on weekends, but I am available throughout the week. I am happy to care for your pet mornings, afternoons, and nights. I believe in providing a safe, enriching environment where dogs can be dogs. I love letting dogs explore on walks, sniff to their heart's content, play, and enjoy new experiences while always prioritizing their safety and comfort. I also understand that every dog is different; some thrive with more freedom, while others need structure, routine, and reinforcement of their training. I take the time to learn each pet's needs and follow the owner's preferences to ensure consistency, trust, and a positive experience for both the pet and their family.
“Zalie was fantastic, such great communication and lots of updates and pictures - she followed all our instructions perfectly and took great care of our high maintenance dog and our house.”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life. Ever since I was a kid, I was jumping up to wash the dogs, train the dogs, walk the dogs- everything! I’m a full time college student. During the day, I will need to attend class. I also attend Natural Resources club on Saturday mornings. However, I am fully available during the rest of the week! I treat all pets with respect and kindness. I’ve had reactive dogs and extremely friendly dogs, so I’m well versed in any reactions pets may have to me. I can crate dogs, feed dogs, play with dogs, walk them, and even bathe them if needed!

“Ember is excellent as a house and pet sitter. She was very respectful of my home, and my cat Cassie just loved her. She really took a lot of worry off my shoulders while I was travelling. I highly recommend her services, and I will hire her again for future travel.”

“Halley took tremendous care of my little high energy guy for 4 days while I traveled for work. I’m forever grateful for the kindness, grace, and thoughtfulness she gave. I would supremely recommend her and wouldn’t hesitate to request her again!”

“Jolie is excellent, as a person and in her care of animals. She is attentive and sends lots of pictures! She went the extra mile in trying her own kitty carrier by wearing it with my kitten to see if she liked it, and reported back to me, and in the love and thoughtfulness for how my older kitty interacted with my new kitten. I highly recommend her!!”

“Annalee was fantastic with Bagel while I was away. She sent me pictures several times a day, which gave me total peace of mind knowing he was doing well. The best part was that instead of giving me the cold shoulder when I got home (like he usually does after I’ve been gone), Bagel was actually excited to see me! That told me everything I needed to know — he had a good stay and was well cared for. I’d definitely recommend Annalee to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dogsitter.”

“Mark was super helpful when we contacted him for same day help when my mom ended up having to spend the night in the hospital. He was helpful, professional, and super nice. He was great with Mom’s pets. Thank you, Mark!”

“Bailey watched our border collie/heeler mix Huck for 10 days and we were very happy with our experience with her. She provided updates on their activities, followed our written instructions, and we came home to a healthy and happy pup and a clean house! We definitely recommend Bailey as a sitter.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Kneeland
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 158 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kneeland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kneeland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kneeland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kneeland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
