Matt was professional, thorough, and most importantly he made Denali feel comfortable while we were gone. He took the time to come over twice before our trip to meet Denali, which made it easier to leave knowing Denali was in good hands. He provided daily updates with pictures and left our house spotless. We’ll be using him again and would recommend Matt to anyone looking for a dog sitter.

If you're like us, we look for care providers with multiple reviews so we have a better idea of who we're hiring. But everyone needs to start somewhere, and this time we decided to give someone a chance who hadn't received reviews yet; boy did we luck out. Jaina did a fantastic job looking after our 80 pound loverboy, Luca. She stayed in our home while we were away five days, and both he--and our home--were well taken care of. He even got a daily walk (in winter, no less!). Jaina is who you want in a sitter: responsive, reliable and kind. She provided daily updates and photos of our dog, too. We would hire her again, and suggest you do too before people catch on and her rates go up.

I’m so grateful for Brittney’s care of my two dogs and two cats during the Christmas week. From the start, she was responsible, reliable and kind. She visited our house twice a day, even during Christmas. Gave my cat medication properly and gently. She left my home clean and tidy. Most importantly, my furry babies felt safe and happy with her. They bonded with Brittney so quickly, and could see they were in wonderful hands. Her calm presence and reliability gave us peace of mind while we were away of the country and it’s so good to have now someone we can trust when a new trip comes. Our schedule changed several times and I’m so grateful for her flexibility and patience! I will definitely hire Brittney again! Thank you Brittney for everything - you made a world of difference for us!

Kurstin was amazing ! She kept me up to date on my pets daily and sent pictures. This was my first experience having someone watch over my reactive dog who can be a menace on the leash and she handled her perfectly! Has experience watching small pets and reptiles as well!

After our meet and greet, I felt totally at ease with leaving my Lucy in Emily’s care. She obviously loves dogs, that’s for sure! I went away this weekend feeling no anxiety about going because of that. Emily took excellent care of her, sending me occasional pictures. When I came home, Lucy was very happy to see me, and my house was still in perfect order. Emily is the best💕

About: I have a dog of my own, and I’m away for college so I don’t see him much. I would love to connect with other dogs so I can feel more at home! I am currently a college student, so I have plenty of time to walk or visit your dog! I am available Monday-Thursday after 5pm, Friday after 1pm, and selective weekends. I have an electric fence at home which my dog has adapted to. I also make sure to walk him and play with him in order to keep him active, since he is an older dog.

About: My passion for caring for animals began in childhood while growing up on a farm. From a young age, I helped clean stalls, collect fresh chicken eggs each morning, and care for a variety of animals. I was always the kid begging my parents for more pets, and animals quickly became my greatest source of comfort through a tough childhood. I have over 10 years of hands-on experience working on a horse farm, where I learned the value of consistency, safety, and attentive care. In addition, I’ve fostered bottle-baby kittens, assisted my mom in breeding golden retrievers, and helped raise her litters many times. My love for animals has no boundaries — I’ve worked with everything from farm animals to dogs, cats, and even jumping spiders, which I currently breed. I have two dogs of my own — Meme, who is 6, and Pia, who is 3 — and they are my whole heart. They have a daily routine I take seriously: outside time at 6:00 a.m., treats before I head to work, a midday potty break, and an evening 30-minute walk at 5:30 p.m. On weekends, we enjoy adventures at the park or exploring new places. I understand how important structure and routine are for pets, and I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own. Over the years, I’ve provided a wide range of pet care — from weekend stays to week-long vacations — both in my home and in others’. Whether it’s an active pup needing exercise, a senior dog requiring gentle attention, or a young animal that needs extra patience, I’m flexible, attentive, and committed to giving each pet the love, safety, and care they deserve. My pups have an entire routine each day. In the morning they go outside at 6:00 am. I do have a fenced in back yard, so I leave my sliding glass door open so they may come in and out. The get treats in the morning before I go to work. I do return home for lunch to let them out to potty. I return home around 5:30 each day and we go for a 30 minute walk. They get their bedtime treat and we start again the next day. On weekends I do like to take them to the park or on adventures. My pups would love some friends, and sleep overs. I know how important my dogs routine and/or schedules are and I would take your pup’s routine just as seriously. The amount of care I offer for pets on a regular basis always fluctuates. I have had pups for a week long vacation, and I have also had just weekend stays. Various weekends I do stay at others homes and care for their pets. I’m very flexible.

Mont’e was absolutely amazing! He provided excellent care for my cat and dog while house sitting. I was pretty nervous to leave town and Mont’e was super kind and professional. He updated me regularly, took my dog on walks, and even took her to his family’s Christmas Eve celebration (after asking of course) because I was worried about her having separation anxiety! Mont’e treated my pets as if they were his own and when I came back they were both super calm and relaxed because of the great care provided. Mont’e was also super respectful of my home and left it very neat and tidy! Highly recommend Mont’e for all pet sitting needs, I’ll definitely be asking him to come back!

Eric was fantastic with our dogs! Even though our pups unfortunately ran into some health issues during their stay, Eric handled everything with incredible care, maturity, and communication. He kept us updated, followed all instructions perfectly, and made sure they were comfortable and safe. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands during a stressful time. We were incredibly happy with his service and highly recommend him!

FAQs for House Sitting - Kirtland Hills

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kirtland Hills on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 954 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kirtland Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kirtland Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kirtland Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kirtland Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kirtland Hills. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
