“I really appreciate Natasha taking care of Icho while I was at work. As my first experience with Rover I was unsure at first if it was dependable, despite all the awesome reviews I’ve seen. Natasha even took pictures for me. She also was nice enough to show me the 20$ off promo for my first booking! I look forward to booking with Natasha again soon ☺️”

About: My family adopted a 10 month old rescue pup, Charlie, when I was 7 years old. For the 12 years that I got to spend with him he was my best friend. Although he was stronger than me the first few years of his life, I was still involved in his training and feeding care until I was big enough to take him out and walk him. Once I could handle him, I took him out, walked him, and helped give baths. As an adult, I have done multiple pet-sitting jobs for neighbors and family friends. I have taken care of dogs and cats of all ages. My job experience includes retail, landscaping, and food/bar service. Working late nights in downtown Blacksburg, I have become keen at cleaning up messes of all kinds. This summer, my schedule is wide open! I play pool a couple of nights a week, but that doesn't last for more than a few hours and I can always go late/leave early to get back to the pets. When the school year starts, I will schedule pet sitting around my class schedule. I am equipped to handle dogs of almost any size on a leash, and I love to play fetch in a yard/at the park. I can keep food and water bowls clean and full, I can crate dogs if needed, and I can keep a litter box clean!

About: I am an avid animal lover. So when friends, family, and friends of friends have looked for pet sitters they come to me! I have experience with dogs as little as Chihuahuas to as big as Rottweilers and we all know who is more feisty ;) I work during the week but am available for walks after 5pm. I am available for boarding all day on the weekends or during the week if your pets are low-needs during the day! I have a private 3+ acre yard with a kenneled in area if needed. I have crates for my dogs and more than happy to crate yours if needed. I am willing to accommodate most needs/request as long as you are willing to communicate!

About: What sets me apart is the calm, reassuring presence I bring to every animal in my care. I’ve had both cats and dogs as pets throughout my life, which has given me a natural understanding of different personalities, energy levels, and comfort needs. I’m especially skilled at supporting shy, anxious, or high-energy pets, and I have the patience and energy to match them where they are—whether that means slow, gentle bonding or active engagement and play. I also bring a strong foundation of trust and responsibility from my years as a nanny and caretaker for children. Families have relied on me with their most valued loved ones, and I carry that same level of professionalism, consistency, and attentiveness into my work with pets. I’m detail-oriented with routines, responsive in communication, and committed to creating a safe, positive experience for every pet I look after. Pet care fits seamlessly into my week because my current job provides the flexibility to care for your animal during the week and weekends. With my schedule, I’m able to let your dogs out a couple times per day, provide at least two walks a day during bookings (and even more on weekends), and stay overnight whenever needed. I naturally build my days around caring for others, so incorporating pet visits, playtime, feeding schedules, and routine check-ins feels like a meaningful and enjoyable part of my routine. I love staying active throughout the day, and spending time with animals brings a sense of calm and balance to my week. For house sitting, I’m attentive, respectful of your space, and present throughout the stay to give your pet consistent company. For drop-ins and walks, I provide reliable check-ins, bathroom breaks, structured walks, and playtime to match your pet’s energy level. For feeding, I’m detail-oriented and make sure everything is done accurately and on schedule. I keep communication clear with updates and photos so you always feel confident and informed.

About: I have lived with, owned, and taken care of dogs, large and small, for my entire life. Family and friends have trusted me to help care for their animals when in need. I have experience with other animals as well including, but not limited to, rabbits, fish, and livestock. I can drop-in or do walks before and after my work hours unless, otherwise, specified. In my client's homes, I will treat your home with the utmost respect. I will only go where specified to go in the home as well as only do the requested services.

About: I have previously volunteered at a rescue for 10 years. I have fostered many animals for the rescue and kept some of those as well. I can handle almost anything. I've also had my fair share of special needs animals, so I'm comfortable handling pets whose needs are out of the ordinary. I've also worked with and owned most types of animals ranging from a few weeks old to 20+ years, so I can provide care to very young or very old animals. I just graduated college and am currently between jobs, so I am at home working on my fixer-upper apartment all day. My schedule is entirely flexible! I will be available almost all waking hours of the day. I can stop in on your schedule to provide care and walks, or just stay over to give the pets round the clock care. I will make sure that your pet stays happy and healthy while in my care!

About: I’ve cared for cats, dogs, and chickens my whole life and currently share my home with three cats, so multi-pet households and juggling different feeding routines are second nature to me. I’m comfortable with everything from energetic puppies and kittens to anxious or reactive pets who need a calm, patient presence and a little extra trust-building. I also volunteer at my local animal nonprofit so caring for animals is a real part of my life. Whether it’s house sitting, drop-in visits, or dog walks, I follow your pet’s routine closely and send photo updates so you can relax while you’re away. I work a standard 9–5 on weekdays, so I’m available for morning, evening, and overnight visits during the week, plus weekends. There could be exceptions that come up, but I’ll always confirm timing in advance and stick closely to your pet’s usual feeding and walk schedule. Since I care for pets in your home, I treat your space with respect and follow your instructions to the letter. I keep doors and gates secured, always leash dogs before heading out, and stay alert to each pet’s comfort and body language. I lock up when I leave and send photo updates so you know everyone’s safe and happy.

About: What sets me apart is my 2 years of professional pet-sitting experience with Prestige, along with being a lifelong animal lover. I have experience caring for a variety of pets and understand that every animal has their own personality, routine, and individual needs. At home, I have 3 cats, a lizard, and fish, so I’m comfortable caring for more than just dogs and cats. I’m patient, dependable, and attentive to the little details that help pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, cuddles, feeding, or simply some loving company, I’ll treat them like they’re part of my own family. I know how important it is to have someone you can trust with your furry—or scaly—family members, and I’m committed to giving them the same care and attention I would give my own pets. 🐾❤️ I currently work full time in research at the vet school! I am most available before 9, after 5 and on weekends/ holidays. With ample notice I am also available to lunch time visits! When house sitting in a client's home, my goal is to keep your pets comfortable and maintain their normal routine while you're away. I follow your instructions closely for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, litter box care, and any other special needs your pets may have. I also understand that I’m caring for your home as well as your pets. I keep things clean and tidy, follow your household instructions, and make sure your pets are safe and comfortable. I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pets are being well cared for. Every visit will come with an update that includes ample pictures.

About: Growing up with large breeds (Bernese Mountain Dog & German Shepard), I’ve always been a lover of all pets, especially dogs. Since relocating to Blacksburg area for work 8 years ago, I’ve pet sat for a variety of animals in the region, ranging from puppies to senior dogs with specific medical needs. It would be an honor to meet and care for your pets! I work full time at VT with some remote days per week, so it can be a flexible schedule. I am happy to adjust schedules or remote days to meet your pets needs! I don’t have any pets in my current home, so I’m flexible to either board at my townhouse or stay at the pets home! I offer both options to all families and willing to drive up to an hour distance.

“Lauren is fantastic! We were nervous to hire a sitter for the first time, but it was clear that our babies had a blast while we were gone. We have a cat who usually hides in the closet whenever friends come over to watch him, but he actually came out and let Lauren give him scritches! Her communication was great, she was reliable, and we always knew our pets were doing well.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
