“Edith is a SUPER responsible person and neat. Our pets received great care, and she was very respectful of our home. Easy to engage with as well. We now plan to do more outings. Very Happy Client, -J”

“Anthony was amazing with our 2 pups, he watched them for 6 days for us at our home over the july 4th weekend. He was attentive, took them walking and our pups both truly love him. He was clean and respectful of our home also, I would highly recommend Anthony to anyone looking for a sitter who will love your pups just as much as you do”

“Joe was great! My dog took to him very quickly at the meet and greet but after a last minute change of plans to bring her, he was able to pivot and care for my cats instead. I really appreciated his flexibility and when I returned I realized he was also wonderful w/ cats! I didn’t get any cattitude from them at all. I received pics and updates regularly and came home to a clean happy house. I’d use him again in a heartbeat.”
About: I recently inherited my aunt‘s dog after she passed away. She wanted me to have Buddy that’s his name (he is the dog in my profile pic♥️)because I am so good with animals. He is a senior dog and I’ve rejuvenated him. We walk every day, I make him fresh, fresh, food I play with him. He’s super happy and it’s like he’s got a second lease on life a pep in his step. This is what I can provide to dogs that I watch or sit or walk. Caring loving attentive care until their mom or daddy returns.🐶 I wake up around 5:30 am and give my dog a walk. I make sure we are up bright and early so that we can get a walk in before the pavement is too hot for him. Then I come home and feed him his breakfast. Throughout the day we s play or if I leave and when I get back I will chase him around our couch. Buddy loves that! I am very gentle and follow the rules to a T. If there’s any instructions or preferences on treatment or care for the animal, always make sure that’s my number one priority.
“Don was great with both my dog, Neko, and my Cat, Teri. He sent videos regularly and keep me informed about Neko and especially how Teri were doing. Also, Don went out of his way to care for Teri, my cat. Teri has kidney disease and requires hydration with a saline solution every day. Don was wonderful with Teri by injecting the solution under his skin. This was accomplished by placing a needle under Teri's loose skin and slowly allowing the saline solution to flow under his skin. Don is very personable and I recommend him very highly for caring for your pet.”
“Fox had a blast with Jessica! She took great care of him while we were at the festival, taking him to the dog park, playing with him and adjusting the day based on the exterior temperature. Reliable, flexible and really Nice, I highly recommend Jessica for your dog sitting needs! Will for sure reach out next time we come.”

About: Hi, I’m Cristina, a lifelong animal lover, experienced pet parent, and quite possibly your pet’s new favorite auntie 😉🐾 Animals have always been part of my life, but some of my most meaningful experiences came these last 9 years in India (Nov-Jan) where caring for street animals became part of my everyday life. I’ve rescued animals, cared for dogs who were sick or injured, navigated unexpected situations, and more than once shared my home and my bed with a street dog who simply needed somewhere safe to land. Those experiences taught me something I carry with me daily the knowing that animals need more than someone who feeds them and takes them for a walk. They need to feel safe. Feeling safe = feeling loved & ability to trust. I seem to have a natural connection with animals, and even shy or uncertain pets often become comfortable with me quickly. I’m calm, patient, and affectionate, and I pay attention to the little things such as their personality, their signals, their routines, and what makes them feel secure. When your pet is with me, there will be plenty of walks, outdoor time, play, cuddles, and companionship. I’m also happy to bathe them, prepare their food, or cook special meals when needed. Most importantly, I follow your instructions. I’ll love your animal as if they were my own while always respecting the routines and boundaries you’ve established. And if something unexpected happens? I don’t panic. Years of caring for animals in all kinds of circumstances have taught me to stay calm, assess the situation, and take appropriate action. To me, pet sitting isn’t simply watching someone’s animal. It’s giving you the peace of mind that while you’re away, someone is there who genuinely cares. Part pet whisperer, part guardian angel, all heart. Experienced enough for the unexpected. Loving enough for the everyday. I specialize in overnight pet sitting in your home, allowing your pets to stay happy and comfortable in the place they know best — their own home. My schedule is flexible, and I’m available for overnight stays during the week, on weekends, or for longer stays while you’re traveling. While I’m caring for your pets, I do my best to maintain the routine they already know and love. Meals, walks, playtime, medications, bedtime rituals and morning routines are all followed according to your instructions. I’m also happy to bring in mail, water plants and keep an eye on your home while you’re away. I love being outdoors, so dogs who enjoy their walks will have a willing companion! And if your pet is more of a “let’s stay home and cuddle on the sofa” type, I’m very good at that job too. 🐾 My goal is simple: you enjoy your time away knowing your pets are loved, your home is cared for, and everything is waiting for you just as you left it. I believe the best place for your fur babies while you’re away is often the place where they already feel safest… at home. That’s why all of my pet sitting and overnight care happens in your home. Your pets get to sleep in their own beds, eat in their familiar spot, take their usual walks and wake up surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells they know. This can be especially comforting for anxious or shy pets, senior animals, newly adopted pets, rescue animals, or simply those who don’t do well with boarding or changes in their environment. Rather than asking your pet to adjust to my world, I step into theirs. I follow the routines and boundaries you’ve created, while giving them plenty of companionship, affection, playtime, walks and reassuring presence. And because I stay overnight, they have someone there to tuck them in at night and greet them in the morning. You get to travel. They never lose the comfort of home. Less disruption. Less anxiety. Lots of love ❤️
“My large rambunctious dog loves Joy. Joy walked and snuggled both my boys. Received daily walk emails, updates and pictures on a small medical issue that Joy monitored for us and lots of pictures.”

About: I am a babysitter part time but I have also taken care of my client’s dogs! I also have experience sitting dogs and cats for up to a week at home. I am currently working part time as a hostess at a restaurant so I will have time to check in on the doggies in the morning and at night! On days I don’t work, I’m free to stay for a few hours to play! I have a senior chihuahua at home. I can check in on your pets when I am not at work and feed, walk, and play with them!
“Susan was awesome! It was the first time had used rover, or had someone new to us, stay at the house with our dogs. From our initial communication, I had a good feeling. Once we had our meet & greet, I felt 100% confident and comfortable that Susan and our senior dogs would have a great weekend. We had open and ongoing communication throughout Susan’s stay. She sent texts when she arrived, photos to let us know how things were going, and texts to keep us informed that everything appeared situation normal! I can honestly say that having Susan watch our dogs, felt like I had left them with my sister. We’re looking forward to being able to leave the boys and take an occasional 2-3 day trip while we’re here in the Desert. I would (and already have) highly recommend Susan and we will be added to her list of “repeat clients” very soon! Thank you Susan!”
“Jazmin is amazing, reliable and reasonable! She goes above and beyond to care for your pet and offers extra services for your pet! She stayed here with my Golden for 3 nights and kept us updated and sent pics. I did not doubt for a second that Elsa wasn’t in good hands! She is definitely my first choice for future needs! Thanks Jazmin!!!!”

“Cheryl is one of the best Rover sitters we've ever worked with! Our dog LOVED Cheryl.. we're talking full on cuddle sessions and big greetings :) Cheryl is super communicative and was very clearly a dog person from the minute we met her. We felt so comfortable that Cheryl was with our pup for the night and really appreciate the great care she took. She's the best. Thank you so much!”

“Bonnie stayed at our home and cared for our senior dog for about 2 weeks while we were away. Bonnie did great following all instructions for our dogs’ care needs, and we felt comfortable with her staying in our home! She worked with our dog when she was being picky, and we would feel comfortable working with her again!!”

Melinda is so amazing, she communicated with me the entire time I was away that she stayed with my pups. She is such a nice and sweet person, so of course my two dogs loved her as well! Would highly recommend her and I will definitely be booking with her again.

Crystal. Wow. What can I say. Amazing person and cat/house sitter. We had an urgent immediate need for help and she came to our house within the hour to stay for 4 nights. The cats loved her, she sent photos and updates, and our house was tidier than how we left it. Perfection!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Indio walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Indio maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Indio choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Indio. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
