“Lilian was great minding Millie. When I met her it was clear that she is very experienced and knowledgeable with dogs and showed great affection for Millie and her own dog Pepsi. It was obvious Millie was going to be well looked after. Communications throughout the dogminding was perfect and I had peace of mind that I didn't need to worry about Millie in my absence. Anyone would be lucky to have Lilian mind their doggie.”

“Mariana did a fantastic job of looking after my 7 month old puppy, Buddy. It was his first time staying away from me and Mariana immediately put him at ease and he seemed to love his time with her. She kept me updated on his progress which was great and meant I didn't need to worry. I couldn't recommend Mariana highly enough and Buddy will definitely be going back to stay with her again.”

About: I have over one year of experience caring for dogs here in Ireland and have looked after dogs with different personalities, sizes, and routines. Before moving abroad, I always had dogs of my own, so caring for animals has been a natural part of my life for many years. I’ve always been used to the responsibility, attention, and daily care that dogs need to feel happy, safe, and loved. I provide a calm, safe, and caring environment where dogs receive plenty of attention, companionship, regular walks, playtime, and a consistent routine throughout the day. I understand how important it is for owners to feel comfortable leaving their pets with someone trustworthy, so I always do my best to make each dog feel relaxed and at home. I live in my own apartment in a quiet and safe area, with a park directly in front of my home, which is perfect for walks and outdoor time. I also keep owners updated with photos and messages during their stay for extra peace of mind My work schedule is flexible, which allows me to spend quality time with the dogs in my care during both weekdays and weekends. Dogs staying with me will have regular walks, attention, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. They will usually go out at least three times a day, and on my days off I have even more flexibility to adapt to their routine and needs. Creating a calm, safe, and loving environment is very important to me when caring for dogs. I live in a quiet area with plenty of space nearby for walks, including a park directly in front of my home, which is perfect for outdoor time and exercise. I always pay close attention to each dog’s behaviour, routine, and comfort level to help them settle in and feel relaxed during their stay. Whether they are energetic and playful or more calm and shy, I adapt to their personality and needs. I also make sure owners feel comfortable by providing updates, photos, and good communication throughout the stay .

“Gerard was fantastic with Ryder, it was our first time to leave Ryder with anyone and Gerard provided daily updates including photos and videos to give us reassurance that he was fine, as we were worried as to how Ryder would react to being away from us, we would highly recommend and will 100% be us him again if we’re going away!”

About: I’ve always had a dog all my life. I’ve moved away from home and miss my dog all the time. Walking by myself isn’t the same so I’d love to help you out and walk your dogs! I’m a teacher so I’m free every weekend. It involves long walks and cuddles. Feeding is no problem and anything else that they usually do in their days. I have a fenced garden and a big living room kitchen area for your dogs to feel safe in. We’ve a lovely neighbourhood with parks to visit.
“Maham took the most excellent care of my baby Bell, I couldn’t reccomend her enough! She was so attentive to her picky eating habits & updated me often on what they were getting up to :) Makes leaving them so much easier knowing they’re in such kind hands <3”

“Gabriella and her lovely family took perfect care of our dog Kelly. She took great care introducing Kelly to her own dogs and ensured she was really comfortable. Lots of daily video's and photo's provided us with constant reassurance Kelly was being so well cared for her. Would 100% recommend her if your dog needs minding and will of course be using her again. Thanks Gabriella”

“Sandra did a great job minding my anxious pup. Callie came back calm and happy and I got lots of happy looking photo updates. She followed medicine and special dietary requirements no problem.”
About: *Due to the size of our apartment, we can comfortably accommodate cats or small dogs. * About us: hello we are Conor and Jade 👋🏻 We both grew up around animals and believe that animals are a part of the family! 💗 Our experience goes beyond pet ownership. Conor worked as a Cat Surrender Liaison with the CDPA, supporting cats and their owners through difficult situations, as well as volunteering as a home screener for the DSPCA, assessing potential homes for rescue animals. These roles gave him valuable insight into animal behaviour, welfare, and the individual needs of pets from all backgrounds. Conor works hybrid from home and Jade works full-time remote from home, so we always ensure that at least one of us is home when we are pet-sitting, to ensure the animal gets all the companionship and attention they need! We will treat your pet like it's our own and ensure it gets all the love, care and attention while you're away! We also do not have any of our pets in our apartment. Our space / nearby park: We live in a two-bedroom apartment with an open plan kitchen and sitting room area that we own in Palmerstown, Dublin 20 🏡 We have a shared garden in the apartment complex for your pet to play in that is enclosed by fences and a front gate. We also live a 5 minute walk away from a large park (Waterstown Park) that your dog can run around in! It is a large and quiet park with an enclosed dog park also. As our apartment is best suited to smaller pets, we can comfortably accommodate cats and small dogs. This allows us to give each pet the attention, care, and space they deserve, ensuring they feel relaxed and at home while you're away. Whether your pet loves cuddles on the sofa, playtime, long walks, or simply having a calm companion nearby, we'll make sure they're cared for. Our motivation: We would love to have our own dogs and cats one day, however, we are not in the position to have full time pets yet. But we still have the desire to spend quality time with animals! Whenever we get the chance we get the chance we take the opportunity to spend time with animals. We pet sit for friends and family often, and we treat them like members of our family 💗 We are active people and genuinely love getting out for long walks with dogs! We understand that every pet is unique, and we treat every animal in our care as if they were our own. Whether your pet is energetic and adventurous, shy and sensitive, or somewhere in between, we'll make sure they receive the love, patience, and attention they deserve. Our goal is always to give owners complete peace of mind while ensuring their pets are happy, comfortable, and cared for. I work full time remote from home. My partner also works hybrid, working from home most days in the week. As a result, there will always be someone at home when we are minding your dog. I go on a daily walks to the large park nearby our apartment so we will ensure that your dog will get daily exercise. We live in a two-bedroom apartment, therefore, we are only accepting small dogs for dog boarding. We do not own any pets and we will only ever dog-sit one dog at a time. This will ensure that we can focus our full care anc attention on your dog. We have a fenced garden at the back of our apartment. We also live 5 minutes walk away from a large park, Waterstown Park which has approx 4km radius. There is also a dog park in this park, where dogs can be let off the lead and run and play freely. On our daily walks with your dog, we will ensure to keep them on the lead. We will never let your dog off the lead in the park or allow them in the dog park without your permission.
“Billy has stayed with Silvana on several occasions and is always well cared for and has a great time. He always gets very excited when he sees her. Silvana has been really accommodating and helpful when needed. Would recommend to anyone looking for a sitter in the area.”
“Nadine and Raphael were fantastic. Our dog had an amazing time. She was looked after so well. She was brought to the beach, cliff walks and spent plenty of time in the park. Our dog is very high energy and she was well matched with Enzo. We'd highly recommend and book again in a heartbeat ☺️ They kept us updated everyday which really helped ease our nerves while away. Thanks so much guys!”

I am caring, responsible and reliable, and I understand the importance of feeding, cleanliness, affection, playtime and safety. I will treat every pet with love and attention as if they were my own. I will offer pet care on my days off and whenever I have enough time to give each pet proper attention. I will keep my calendar updated and only accept bookings that fit safely into my schedule. About: My love for dogs started when I was young. I grew up with my lovely poodle, who was by my side for 12 wonderful years. He taught me so much about love, patience, and companionship, and having him in my life was one of the happiest experiences I’ve ever had. Since then, I’ve also looked after friends’ dogs, both big and small, and I’m now raising my own westie puppy Jerry. I understand that every dog has their own personality, habits, and needs. Some love endless playtime, while others prefer a quiet cuddle or a peaceful nap. Before looking after your pup, I’d love to learn about their personality, daily routine, favourite activities, and anything they might be nervous about, so I can make sure they feel happy, safe, and at home. To me, dogs aren’t just pets. They’re family ❤️ I’m currently a PhD student and work from home every day, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to spend with my furry guests! I already have a daily routine with my own dog, including 3–4 walks a day, usually around 20–30 minutes each. Since I’m home throughout the day, your pup will have lots of company, attention, playtime, and cuddles. I’ll also make sure they get plenty of rest and feel comfortable throughout their stay. I’ve made my apartment a cosy, dog-friendly little home, with plenty of toys, soft blankets, and comfortable spots for dogs to play and relax. I also have a fenced balcony where pups can enjoy some fresh air and supervised playtime. My friendly Westie, Jerry, loves meeting other dogs and would be happy to have a new playmate! Of course, I’ll always make sure introductions are gentle and supervised, and that every dog has their own space when needed. Your dog’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I’ll follow their usual routines as closely as possible and send you regular photos and updates, so you can relax knowing your little one is in good hands.
“Isabella and Thiago have bern nothing but stellar hosts for our dog Benji. He stayed with them for 1 week and he's had the best time, filled with gorgeous coastal hikes, enough playtime and activities. I'd highly recommend both of them to anyone!”
About: Hi! I’m a cheerful and loving person who truly adores animals. Back in Brazil, I lived with my mom who has 8 dogs, and they were a big part of my daily life. I helped take care of them, went on walks, played, fed them, and made sure they were happy and healthy. I also took care of my sister’s dogs for three months while she was traveling — it was a full-time responsibility and I absolutely loved it! I live in a two-bedroom apartment near parks where I can take the dog for a walk. Being around animals brings me so much joy. I believe they deserve not just care, but real love and attention. That’s why I treat every pet as if they were my own. I’m responsible, patient, and very affectionate. Whether it’s for playtime, walks, or just keeping them company, I’m here to help! I’m happy to welcome vaccinated pets into my home, and I always make sure they feel safe and comfortable with me. I’d love to meet your furry friend soon! I work full-time as a scheduler, sometimes I can work from home, but at the weekends I would love to have a dog with me and give him loads of love 🥰 I live in a two-bedroom apartment, there is a protected balcony. There is a few parks near my house, and I love to visit parks during the weekend
Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Swords
The moment we met with Niamh we knew our cocker spaniel boy Otso was in excellent hands! Niamh was kind, caring and obviously very knowledgeable about dogs. Otso settled in happily straight away. While away Niamh sent us lovely photos and comments on how Otso was getting on. We were more than happy with the service Niamh and Dan provided, it truly was a home away from home experience for our beloved pet. Thank you so much Niamh and Dan! Maurice & Merja

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for Dog Boarding in Swords on Rover is {{median_grand_total_num.as_currency}} per night (as of {{date}}). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding.
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialise in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your Eircode to find a sitter within walking distance in your neighbourhood.
Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up to date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in Dublin ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), and Leptospirosis.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Some boarding sitters stay with the dogs in their care for most of the day, while others may step out for work, errands or other commitments. Each sitter’s schedule and the amount of time your dog may be left alone will vary, so it is important to agree expectations before the stay begins.
Before booking, tell the sitter how long your dog can comfortably be left alone and confirm their typical schedule during the stay. Adding the maximum number of hours your dog can be left alone to their profile can also help sitters decide whether they are the right match.
Boarding does not automatically include round-the-clock supervision. If your dog needs someone present at all times, ask whether the sitter offers constant care or 24/7 care. This may require a separate arrangement and may not be included in the sitter’s standard boarding rate.
Every sitter must complete an identity verification process before listing their services on Rover. This process checks that the sitter’s identity matches their provided documents.
Identity verification doesn't assess a sitter’s experience or suitability for your pet. To see if a sitter is the right fit, you can review each sitter's profile for ratings, verified reviews, repeat pet owner information and care style. We also recommend arranging a Meet & Greet to discuss your pet’s needs and make sure the sitter is the right fit before booking.
For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three- or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-in visits, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12.00 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our booking protection will kick in. This means you'll get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who've never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover, but you're welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you've previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you're booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you'll have a chance to go through your pet's routine, medical needs and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. A Meet & Greet is a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
