About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life. I have taken care of them as a puppy all the way to caring for them as senior dogs. I miss having a dog in the house and I would love to pet sit for anyone. I currently work full time but my hours are flexible. I am available every weekend and some days during the week. Your pet will get plenty of rubs and walks. I have a fenced garden in my house. I don’t have any dogs in my home at the minute but it is pet friendly. I live beside the Curragh so your pet will be walked every day!

About: Growing up, I’ve always had family dogs. We’ve had multiple breeds throughout the years. I’ve minded family and friends dogs too, feeding and walking them. It’s the first time in my life without my own dog, so looking to care for and cuddle dogs without the commitment! I am a registered nurse. I work three days a week, Monday to Sunday. I also work nights. My schedule can be flexible as I can have multiple days off in a row. I live in a stand alone house. It is not fenced in, however when outside I can always keep a lead on your dog. I can easily crate your dog if needed. I do have a cat, her name is Sid. She is both an indoor and outdoor cat. She can easily stay outside through your dogs stay if that makes you comfortable. She is used to dogs and usually doesn’t pay them any attention.
“Natalia couldn’t have been nicer, she was excellent with Rex from the minute we met It’s the first time I’d used this service and she put me at ease throughout our holiday with pictures and videos of how Rex was getting on, this I found super assuring I will absolutely be using Natalia’s service again and I highly highly recommend her Thank you for everything Natalia”

About: I have experience caring for a variety of pets, including cats, dogs and rabbits of different breeds, sizes, and personalities. I have hands-on experience with both energetic and calm pets, and I adapt my care based on their individual personalities. I am also comfortable caring for shy or slightly anxious dogs, giving them the patience and calm environment they need to feel secure. I currently work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays. On weekends, I'll be home all the time. Whenever I go out, I'll make sure my pet has plenty of space and a comfortable environment to relax and move around. My home 🏡 is a spacious three-bedroom house designed to be safe, clean, and pet-friendly. I create separate areas for resting, feeding, and playing, so each dog has their own comfortable space. If caring for more than one dog, I always prioritise compatibility and supervise all interactions carefully. Feeding is done separately to ensure a calm environment, and pets are never left alone for long periods. There is also a park nearby 🌳, which is perfect for daily walks and outdoor playtime, helping dogs stay active and happy.
“My two maltipoos had a great weekend being looked after by Elena. She provided me with regular updates with photos and videos of what she was up to with my dogs, which really put my mind at ease. Her own dog, Penny, is a lovely playful girl who got on great with my two dogs. Before they stayed with Elena she kindly offered a quick meet and greet to allow me to see where they would be staying and for our dogs to meet and ensure they all got on ok. I would recommend Elena as a dog minder and will definitely be booking again 😊”

About: I’ve had cats and dogs at home since I was young, so going on 25 years now. I have recently moved home from Vancouver and am working fully remote part time so I have lots of time to mind your dogs or stay with them while you travel! I have 2 small dogs of my own in the house. I have a large fenced in garden for your doggies to play in! I work fully remote so I am available all day for dog minding. I can drive and love to bring my dogs to Punchestown for their walkies It is a pet friendly, fenced in yard in a quiet neighbourhood near a park. The house itself is also pet friendly with pets allowed on furniture.
“We recently went away and needed a sitter for our 6 month old Labrador on short notice. Jean Philippe was extremely fast to reply and very professional. His kind nature made Maisie feel secure very quickly! This was our first time leaving our pup and we were incredibly anxious at the thought of leaving her with a sitter, however Jean Philippe exceeded our expectations, kept us well updated and most importantly, cared for Maisie as his own. From being shy when she first met him to running over to him and making sure she said her goodbyes, we couldn’t be happier with her experience and how calm she has been since leaving his home! We will definitely book again in the future if we need a sitter for Maisie, I highly recommend!”

About: I’ve always been a huge animal lover and have plenty of hands on experience caring for both dogs and cats. I grew up having dogs of my own, so looking after pets and making sure they feel happy, comfortable and well cared for has always been a natural part of my life. I currently have a cat of my own and regularly help care for my grandparents’ cats and dogs, as well as my sister’s dog. I’ve also helped neighbours with pet sitting and looking after their animals when they’ve been away or needed an extra hand. Through this, I’ve had experience caring for different pets with their own personalities, needs and routines. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, playtime, keeping pets company and following their usual routines. I know how important it is for pets to feel safe and settled when their owners aren’t around, so I always take the time to get to know them and make sure they get plenty of attention and affection. I’m reliable, patient and attentive, and I’m very happy to follow any specific instructions you have. I’d treat your pet with the same care and affection I give my own. As a secondary school teacher, I have a consistent weekly schedule and plenty of availability outside of school hours. I’m available for dog walking and drop in visits after 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 1:30pm onwards on Wednesdays. At weekends, my schedule is much more flexible and I’m available throughout the day for dog walking, pet sitting, drop in visits and longer periods of care. I’m happy to work around your pet’s usual routine wherever possible and can discuss individual needs and timings with you. I also have greater flexibility during school holidays and mid-term breaks. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine and individual needs, so I always aim to make their time with me as comfortable and familiar as possible. I’m happy to follow any instructions provided by owners regarding feeding, walks, exercise, playtime and their usual daily routine. When caring for a pet in their own home, I’m very respectful of both the pet’s space and the owner’s home. I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention, companionship and playtime, as well as regular walks and toilet breaks where needed. I’m also happy to send regular photos and updates so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and being well looked after. Safety is really important to me, so I’ll always follow instructions regarding leads, feeding, interactions with other animals and anything else I should be aware of. Most importantly, I’ll treat every pet I look after with the same care, patience and affection I would give my own.

“Our Lola recently stayed with Mathan and his wife for a week, and we couldn't have asked for better dog sitters: sweet, attentive, and with a deep love for dogs. I recommend them to anyone who wants to leave their dog because they're in good hands. We'll definitely book with them again. Thank you guys ♥️”

“Harini looked after our 5 year old Maltese/Jack Russell for a week whilst we were on holidays. He was very well looked after and had a great time. Harini sent up regular photos and videos throughout the week which was great! Would absolutely recommend!”

“Kenia took such good care of Milly our cat. We were delighted with the regular updates Kenia sent… photos, videos and messages. She genuinely loves cats. We highly recommend Kenia and would be very happy for her to look after Milly again.”

“Tracey made us feel so at ease leaving Cooper with her, she is so caring & was always updating us with pictures. Her dog Clo is also so friendly which is a huge bonus, I would 100% recommend Tracey & Co as your dog sitter. Thank you! ”

“I could not have felt more at ease leaving Chief with Cara. She has such a fantastic set up for the dogs and sends lots of photos and updates throughout the stay! Chief would love to go back! ”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for Dog Boarding in Athy on Rover is {{median_grand_total_num.as_currency}} per night (as of {{date}}). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding.
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialise in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your Eircode to find a sitter within walking distance in your neighbourhood.
Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up to date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in Kildare ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), and Leptospirosis.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Some boarding sitters stay with the dogs in their care for most of the day, while others may step out for work, errands or other commitments. Each sitter’s schedule and the amount of time your dog may be left alone will vary, so it is important to agree expectations before the stay begins.
Before booking, tell the sitter how long your dog can comfortably be left alone and confirm their typical schedule during the stay. Adding the maximum number of hours your dog can be left alone to their profile can also help sitters decide whether they are the right match.
Boarding does not automatically include round-the-clock supervision. If your dog needs someone present at all times, ask whether the sitter offers constant care or 24/7 care. This may require a separate arrangement and may not be included in the sitter’s standard boarding rate.
Every sitter must complete an identity verification process before listing their services on Rover. This process checks that the sitter’s identity matches their provided documents.
Identity verification doesn't assess a sitter’s experience or suitability for your pet. To see if a sitter is the right fit, you can review each sitter's profile for ratings, verified reviews, repeat pet owner information and care style. We also recommend arranging a Meet & Greet to discuss your pet’s needs and make sure the sitter is the right fit before booking.
For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three- or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-in visits, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12.00 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our booking protection will kick in. This means you'll get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who've never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover, but you're welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you've previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you're booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you'll have a chance to go through your pet's routine, medical needs and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. A Meet & Greet is a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
