“Amazing sitter! Second time that we have had Alivia sit for our cat and she has done so well. We have a shy timid cat and Alivia is patient and so sweet with him. He loves her and that can’t say enough!”

“Ariana did an amazing job. She was very proactive with status updates and kept me informed daily about everything Dexter was up to. I was able to enjoy my trip worry-free knowing my dog was in good hands. 10/10, will book again.”

“Tabutha took care of our elderly dog over the long weekend. She was responsive and sent updates. She also left our home clean and tidy. I would recommend her and will use her again in the near future.”

“Cannot recommend Teagan more! She was responsive, timely, and flexible. My flight was delayed by 5 hours and she was able to extend the booking for my elderly dog, which was a big relief for me. Her dog is super sweet as well. :)”

“Alyssa stayed with my needy little poodle mix and also my son’s active golden retriever for a long weekend. Both dogs seemed happy and relaxed when we came on and the house was clean and tidy. I would totally have her come again!”

“Ashlyn was very responsive and made herself available at the last minute to watch our dog and cat, plus a tortoise and 2 fish. In addition to caring for our sick dog, she also looked after our house, watered our plants and in general came to the rescue at the last minute for us.”

“Brad did a great job managing our large pack! And he was very patient as I learned how to use Rover and the app for our bookings. We loved seeing the videos and photos of all our fur kids having a great time while we were away, and definitely recommend Brad for other pet parents!”

About: I have lived with animals most of my life. While I currently do not own a pet, I have continued to surround myself with the animals of my friends and family. I started cat-sitting 2 years ago. When I pet sit, I aim to ensure a great experience for my furry friends. I am currently working part-time as an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and am flexible in my hours. I am currently a part-time Occupational Therapist, so I have flexibility in my schedule to take care of your furry friend. I have my own transportation as well. I work hard to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for your animal in their home environment. A detailed description of your animal's needs is much appreciated.

“Lauren is the BEST! She stayed at my place and watched my dobie for a week while I was in Italy. She sent me photos of Priya every day, and took care of everything around the house that I asked. She was everything you could hope for in a pet sitter. I will definitely book her again when I travel.”

About: Throughout my life I've had 4 dogs. Currently I have two, with one being a 2-year-old pup I've been training ever since I adopted her and one that's pretty old and requires some special care. I used to work as a dog groomer for a business called Kendra's Grooming and I would watch her dogs when she went away with her family for vacation. For Kendra's Grooming I would bathe, dry, and hold dogs whenever needed. All of my classes are online currently for the summer and I'm open whatever day of the weekdays and Saturdays along with whatever time or for however long. So, I'm able to work whatever time is needed. I would be able to keep a constant eye on your pup, take them on however many walks you would want, and would be able to care for them in whatever way is needed. I've worked with animals with all sorts of personalities and in varying stages of health, so I can work with any form of animal, and I can accommodate for any of your pet's unique needs.
“We were gone for 7 days and when we came home the dogs acted like we had just ran to the store! They were very calm and happy. They ate all of their food which never happens when we are away. Brigitta took great care of our house also- looked better when we got home than when we left lol”

About: I have taken care of numerous pets and animals since I was a kid, from dog sitting for family friends and neighbors to extended house stays. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. Pets in my care get regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and lots of supervision. I make sure they’re not left alone for long periods and can adjust my routine to fit your pet’s needs. I provide a safe, clean, and loving environment where pets are always supervised. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walks, and any special care instructions. My home is pet-friendly, and I make sure all animals feel comfortable and secure. I’m attentive to behavior and health, and I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.
“Quessandra did an amazing job with Bella. I reached out to her super late at night and last minute and she came through in a pinch. She also sent lots of pics which eased my mind. I will be using her again and again to keep Bella company.”

“Silas went above and beyond for our pets! She watched our 4 dogs and 2 cats while we were out of the country. She was a great communicator the whole time. There was an issue with an appliance in the house while we were gone and she kept me updated and helped coordinate the repairs. She also sent photos and updates of the pets. We really appreciate that she treated our fur babies with love while we were away.”

“Keri has such a sweet and gentle demeanor. My pup, Klaus, fell in love with her right away! When I got home I could tell that Klaus had had a great time and was super comfortable with Keri. She asked pertinent questions and followed my instructions to a t. I would highly recommend Keri and I will absolutely be contacting her again to sit Klaus”

About: I have been a cat owner for 6 years and a dog owner for a year. Had many pets (dogs and cats) in my childhood. I often watch friends animals when needed. I am very responsible and always on time. I will love your pet and give it the very best care. I have time in between my kids school schedule that I can pop over for a potty break or a walk. I am also available to pet sit for your home and check in on them in the evenings and early mornings. Im going to offer my services outside of my home due to two very territorial cats. Will provide the very best service and love in their environment. I am a stay at home mom trying to find work around my kids school schedule. I am available to do drop in feeds and walks or pee breaks during the day and night. I am not interested in having any dogs in my own home. I would love to care for your pet in its own comfortable environment while you are away. I will provide snuggles, playtime and walks to keep your pet happy.

Alivia did an amazing job with my two pups over the 4 day weekend. She even got kisses from my nervous foster pup, Josie. Both dogs were tired and happy when I got home. Alivia sent photos every day to show me what a good time they were having and how contented my alpacas were. I will definitely book with Alivia again.

Alivia was fantastic! She followed all our instructions perfectly and sent adorable daily photo updates. Our cats loved her so much we were honestly a little worried they’d prefer her over us by the time we got back! We can’t recommend her enough and would definitely book again.

Alivia watched our cat Olive once so far and we would love to have her back! She house sat for two nights and maintained excellent communication throughout the stay, sending us pictures of Olive to let us know she was doing well. Alivia did a great job of keeping her litter box clean and ensuring the house was as clean as it was when we left (it was honestly cleaner than before we left). We had total peace of mind while on our trip knowing that Olive was well cared for. Highly recommend hiring Alivia as your pet-sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Home on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,303 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Home. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Home walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Home maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Home choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Home. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
