“Chanay takes the stress away with leaving Danner & Junior at home while I travel. Both are senior guys, and she does so well with them. So dependable, kind and trustworthy! Thank you Chanay!”

About: I’ve always been an animal lover and genuinely enjoy having pets around. I know how much our pets mean to us and how hard it can be to leave them when we’re away, so I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re in my care. I’m happy to help with walks, feeding, playtime, cuddles, and sticking to your pet’s normal routine. I’m also comfortable giving extra attention to pets who are shy, anxious, or need a little time to warm up. My goal is simple: to care for your pet the way I’d want someone to care for mine, with patience, love, and lots of attention. 🐾❤️ I’m currently in midwifery school and have found that my schedule doesn’t allow for full nursing shifts anymore! I love walking and I love animals so I having the opportunity to offer an 30-60 minutes of love to someone’s dog is so special for me! I currently offer pet care exclusively in your home, because I think pets are happiest and most comfortable in their own space and routine. I’ll follow your instructions closely and make sure your pets get plenty of attention, playtime, walks, meals, and cuddles while you’re away. I’ll treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I’d want for my own. I’m happy to send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pets are happy, safe, and well cared for while you’re gone.
“Kaitlyn is a great cat-sitter. I returned to a quite happy cat. She followed all provided instructions and promptly replied during the entire duration of the cat sitting. Even though my cat is pretty shy around new people, Kaitlyn quickly earned his trust. Kaitlyn provided many pictures and prompt updates for each day's visit and was thoughtful enough to double-check that I was returning as expected. I unequivocally recommend her as a cat-sitter and would book again.”

About: Hey there! I’ve been around and caring for animals for most of my life and have hands-on experience with dogs and cats . I currently work in veterinary medicine, so I’m comfortable caring for animals with different needs, recognizing changes in behavior, and making sure pets are safe and comfortable. I have experience with puppies, senior pets, large and strong dogs. I’m comfortable handling animals that need extra patience, space, and understanding. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely love spending time with animals, whether that means walks, playtime, cuddles, feeding, or just keeping them company while you’re away! I own and operate my own farrier business, so I may occasionally be away for a couple of hours during the day while I’m working with horses. I’ll always discuss this with you beforehand to make sure your pet is comfortable being left alone for a few hours. If they aren’t, no worries at all! I can also schedule my farrier work around whatever your pet may need. Outside of work, I’ll have plenty of time for walks, playtime, attention, and care. I want every pet in my care to feel safe, comfortable, and at home. I have years of hands-on experience with animals and am comfortable with dogs, cats, horses, and small animals, including nervous or reactive pets. I’ll follow your instructions and keep your pet’s normal routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I’ll always communicate with you if anything comes up and make sure your pet gets the same care and attention they’re used to.
“Talon was a thorough pet sitter. She was detailed in ensuring the hygiene, activity, food/drink, and med needs of eat dog and cat. In addition to other additional pet care instructions, she kept me updated of the pets’ health status and that their needs were being met. She asked questions when she didn’t know something clearly and ensured my home was safe and secure. Thank you for the Meet and Greet and for the excellent care!”

“Jennifer has been a stalwart drop-in sitter for our dog Guinness for half a year now. She has put up with schedule changes, a sick puppy, and miscommunication on our end with absolutely no guff. Truly the best possible sitter we could have ever wished for. Jennifer is the best. Can't recommend enough.”

About: I've owned, loved and cared for dogs for my entire young and bonafide adult life. Dogs tend to naturally bond with and like me because they almost immediately know that I love and enjoy dogs. I am retired and have lots of time and an extremely flexible schedule. I enjoy the freedom to both make plans and to act on a moments notice. I talk to dogs, I exercised them physically and mentally, I cater to their needs, and I watch out for any hazards or dangers. I do everything in my power to insure that me and dogs have a positive and fun experience.

About: Being raised on a small farm, there have always been cats & dogs around to share in the ups & downs of life. I love leaning into each individual's personality and working with positive reenforcement to catch the animals doing good behavior! I have experience training/working with dogs of all ages. Sometimes our furry friends need extra care. I am experienced in oral medicine administration, wound care, ear & eye treatments (if need be)! I am available for pet care on a daily basis. I care for my cats & dog daily. If ever I need backup support, I have a network of folks willing to lend a hand. When pet sitting, I follow the instructions given by the owner regarding when to feed, how much food, how often they need to go outside. Beyond that, I typically tidy up the space every evening, sweeping/vacuuming, refreshing waters, etc. I try to develop a routine so that the animals know what to expect and can relax into a sense of order. I generally find ways that each animal likes to play and find games that are fun and rewarding.

I prioritize following all instructions as their written, from feeding schedules, walks, to adhering to any medical needs your pet may have. I will provide the utmost care and respect for your home and animals to ensure everyone feels at ease.
About: I love cats and dogs, and grew up with large dogs. I walk and run a LOT so dogs usually love being taken care of by me. Cats feel special as I make sure to give them love if they want it, otherwise they have food, clean water, and a clean litter box every day! Pets tend to really like me and although I'm not a professional dog trainer, I know how to encourage positive behavior. I'm super responsible and reliable, and I have been asked to house sit numerous times since I'm also really clean and quiet and take very good care of people's homes. I'm currently working part-time so I have a flexible schedule. 9a until evening. And I am available on the weekends. If I stay at the house, that can happen any time during the week. I have been entrusted to care for many homes and cherished pets, and do so with great care! I'm very clean, quiet, and responsible. I love being able to take dogs for walks and to be able to give cats attention or at least fresh food!
“Stacy provided great care of my 3 female rats and went above and beyond to feed them special treats I provided, took daily pictures and bond with them while I was away. Trustworthy and followed directions! Would recommend thank you!”

I especially appreciated that she kept me updated and sent me pictures of my cat, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear that she genuinely cared and made sure everything was going well. I would absolutely recommend Laura and would be very happy to book with her again!”

About: 🍂🍁 Happy Autumn! 🍁🍂 I have my own licensed and insured pet care LLC, and I am currently in classes to become a certified behavioral trainer. Having been born into a family of German Shepherd lovers, navigating the care, management and companionship of large, highly intelligent animals was instilled upon me at a young age. My respect and love for these breeds are boundless. Once I graduated college, I adopted an 8 week old Alaskan malamute, who I cared for his entire 11 years of life until he unexpectedly passed recently in January. Though not ready to adopt again, I am missing that presence in my life and looking to fill that space by helping friends, family, neighbors and members of the community with their pet care needs. I am experienced with puppies, high maintenance dogs, and especially with large breeds (my boy was 150lbs at a healthy weight and required at least 5 miles of exercise a day). While all are welcome, I absolutely specialize in northern breeds - huskies and malamutes - along with GSDs. Beyond dogs, I also have 30 years of experience caring for cats. Additionally I have cared for horses growing up in a country town with great stables, ferrets, various reptiles, birds, fish (fresh and salt water aquariums) and more. No matter the pet or the care needs, I am open to a discussion. I am kind, caring, uniquely experienced, energetic and reliable. Due to my experience, I know all too well what it feels like to have to find reliable, safe, trusted care for a large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breeds - I know that I can definitely offer that unique service in this arena. I am also an avid hiker and runner - if this type of exercise for your pet piques your interest, let’s chat! I am completing a graduate program at PSU (I live right above campus) and so am at home working often, and have an open scheduel. I am extremely active during the week, and have plenty of free time in general. I am respectful to how you’d like your pet to be taken care of in your home and out and about. No matter what the need, I am able to discuss, negotiate and accommodate. Though all are welcome - due to my experience, my niche has become working with and caring for large, high maintenance, and/or misunderstood breeds.
About: Hello! I'm Lea, someone who loves and adores pets. Recent undergrad at Purdue who just relocated to Oregon. I live with a veterinarian in training, so I have constant hands on experience with my home life on how to take care of dogs. I am Cat and Dog CPR FIRST AID Certified! I've house sitted for many of dogs when I was younger, so I have much experience with dogs. I’ve also volunteered with the humane society many of times in my free time. I find it very important to care about dogs and give dogs love and attention when their owner can't at the moment. I'm willing to help in anyway with the dogs. I especially love walking and playing with dogs! My schedule is very flexible, so I am willing to work with anyone when needed. If there are any questions,comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me. With me, I will always provide excellent care for your pets. Thank you! I recently got a new job, so I am available all day on weekends and after 5pm! I also have hour breaks so I can do check ins in between. I will work with your schedule as much as possible! I have a screened balcony that ensures your pet will be safe inside at all times. My apartment is incredibly spacious so your pet will have plenty of room to run, play, and sleep at. I also have a sweet, energized kitty that will keep your fur baby company! If your pet is uncomfortable around other pets, I have a pet gate and an extra bedroom to keep Sushi away. Otherwise if I am your house I will accommodate to any of your rules or needs.
About: I love allllll the animals! Not just cats and dogs, but lizards and snakes too! Tell me all about your pets. I live up on the hill by OHSU. I also spend time with my partner, their dog & 2 cats in Salem. My cat’s name is Flapjack! He’s about 18, and I’ve leash trained him. He also has a stroller. I love taking him for walks. He lets me trim his nails too! But we’ve worked up to that. I would do 1 claw at a time, followed by a treat. I also let him run his face on the clippers, and told him it’s his. Now I can sit down and trim all his claws, while he purrs. 🥹 I am a small business owner. I have 2 booths in vintage malls, and an online shop. So I’m pretty flexible, but I do typically get some work done during the week. Let me know if your pup likes adventure, or is more of a homebody. Some pups enjoy stopping by my place to do some work, and others prefer staying within their comfort zone. :) I am very respectful of other people’s space. I never go through anything in anyone’s home, or step foot in any room I’m not supposed to. I’m very respectful of instructions. I don’t allow guests over anywhere I’m sitting, unless we’ve talked about it first. I’d also like to know what your availability is like while you’re away. I send a lot of pictures and videos, but I also don’t want to bother you too much. I have ADHD and sometimes I forget things, or struggle with time blindness. If you have written instructions for me to reference, that’s awesome! If not, nbd but I may text you to ask a question more than once, and I apologize ahead of time for that!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
