This was Phoebe’s second stay with Kevin. He took great care of her, and I can tell she’s always happy to see him. Kevin was careful to keep to Phoebe’s schedule, which I appreciate!

Doreen was absolutely wonderful. We were very nervous to leave Chloe, but she had access to the bed (we let her sleep with us), the backyard, the run of the home and endless cuddles from Doreen. We left a piece of our heart with her for two weeks and she kept us updated everyday with videos and pictures and letting us know that Chloe was eating well and loved the other dogs she was with. Chloe is 12 and stopped playing with toys years ago, at Doreens she decided to play with toys again. It was so heartwarming to see, we will be using Doreen for all our petsitting needs with Chloe.

Diana is a lovely person and did great with our 2 dogs. This was our first time bringing them to a sitter and she made us feel at ease. She is very communicative and flexible, and sent us daily updates. I highly recommend her and we will definitely be booking again on our next trip!

Grace was excellent with our dog, Leni. He had some serious separation anxiety when we dropped him off and went on a hunger strike for several days. Not only did Grace keep us hell informed, she went above and beyond in trying to make Leni feel comfortable in her home and went as far as spoon feeding him to get him to eat. We're so thankful for all that she did to take care of Leni. I would highly recommend Grace to anyone looking for a loving and caring home in which to leave their pup while traveling. Thank you, Grace!!

Elizaveta did a fantastic job watching our Boston Terrier for almost 3 weeks. Our little guy is often afraid of new people and being away from our family, but with her he was super comfortable right away - I think her dog helped with the process. Definitely recommend and would use again.

Karine is the best sitter I have used! She was very patient and took really good care of my nervous Aussie shepherd. Asked question to make sure she was always well taken care of and safe. I loved all the updates and pics of ruby playing and getting along with the family. I trust her and highly recommend her to take good care of your fur babies. Thank you Karine!!

Sara and her home were the perfect fit for our anxious dog, Mazie. Sara is very knowledgeable about dogs, their behaviors, and how to handle them. She successfully gave Mazie medication 3 times a day and prepared special meals for her. We received photos via text while we were away showing how happy and acclimated Mazie was there. We have already booked another stay with Sara. Thank you Sara!!!

About: I’m a huge fan of both cats and dogs and will happily provide the walks, playtime, cuddles, belly rubs, and attention they demand. I love getting to know each pet’s personality—whether they’re a zoomie champion, a professional napper, or a little shy. My work is flexible and can host your pets for long term care. I would be honored to give your fur babies plenty of love and attention while you’re away. I work full-time, but only live two minutes away. I will be able to attend to your pets practically anytime of the day. I currently don't have any other pets staying with me so your babies will have my undivided attention. I live on a large private property with lots of land and space for needed outside time. I live in a small apartment but still plenty of space to comfortable moving.

This is the first time that Bison stayed with someone outside of the immediate family. In the past I boarded my dogs at various kennels and they also came home with should I say “a little attitude “. This was not the case with Robert. Robert shared pic of him and Bison on walks (which he loves) and also had a chance to let. Bison play with the neighbor’s dogs. Robert had a large enclosed backyard that make us feel comfortable. He and Bison bonded as well Robert learned that Bison loves to take over the bed. I was glad that I was able to find Robert as I had less anxiety leaving Bison for the first time. I will use Robert asmy go to in the future. Highly recommend him as he is a dog person.

Maureen was very attentive to Harley, sending updates and photos daily. Harley is a sensitive dog and didn't want to eat at first, but after Maureen's tender loving care, eventually started eating. Harley seems even more cuddlier than before the stay, which tells me she built some good human animal bond habits. Thanks Maureen!

We were worried that our Laima would have a hard time with separation anxiety, (first time away from us in the 2 yrs since we rescued her) but Rene and her pups made her feel right at home. The pictures she posted spoke volume on how well Laima enjoyed her stay! We hope to use Rene again soon!

Jocelyn’s dedication to her own dog’s well-being and behavior reassured me that she would also take excellent care of my two pups. She went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable and happy during their play dates. I was grateful for her attentiveness and genuine concern for my dog’s health. Thanks to Jocelyn, I now have a trusted friend who understands the importance of responsible pet ownership and fosters positive relationships between dogs of all breeds. Thank you so much for taking care of my fur babies! I would definitely book Jocelyn again!!! 😊

Axl is a very reliable dog sitter. She was one of the few sitters that responded and didn’t cancel or ghosted me on the Rover. I truly recommend her for your dog care. Our dog - Peaches - stay at Axl home was amazing. Our dog had a lot of fun with her and her two other dogs. Peaches didn't even notice that we were leaving her with a new family. She was well entertained and taken care off. We were getting updates and pictures from our dog stay regularly. She really took a great care of our dog.

There are dog-sitters and then there’s Jane. Her love for all animals shines through and we’ve never felt more at ease leaving Kaya with a sitter than we have with Jane. I’d recommend her to literally anyone who wants regular updates, a loving home, and a caring spirit. Thank you, Jane!

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hawthorne home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
