First time leaving my dogs to be cared for by any sort of service. We have always used family to watch our dogs while we are away so we were pretty hesitant. Patti made it so easy for us. She is a good, easy going person and you can tell she genuinly loves dogs and cares about their well being. She sent us photos of our dogs each time she visited them. By her second visit with them they were legit smiling for the camera!

Wow. I can’t say enough about the quality of care Brandon provided to our active dog Coco (who needed medicine administered and extra TLC during his visit) and our kitty Cora. His communication with us and the animals was wonderful, he updated us in real time, and everyone was in great shape when we arrived home. We’ll definitely be rebooking with Brandon!

About: I've cared for pets since I was 16 years old. I helped my family, friends, and neighbors when they needed someone to take care of their pet(s). I've cared for a ton of pets ranging from fish, hermit crabs, birds, bunnies, gerbils, hamsters, cats, to dogs. I love dogs so much I created a dog blog on the side as a hobby. I am currently writing remotely from home for work with a flexible schedule with time to also take care of your pet during most of the hours. I am easily able to take care of my own dog with ease. I have a little teddybear dog of my own, and completely understand the love and care pets receive from their owners. I get that it is your baby you do not need to worry. I will respect, honor, and care for your pet just as you would.

About: In addition to having my own family dog, I grew up taking care of other family & neighbors’ pets. This included regular walks, feeding, and overnight care. I’ve now been doing Rover for the last 6 years, taking care of dozens of dogs and cats, most of which return for recurring care — from drops ins to daycare and week+ long overnight stays. I work from home full time, so I can spend time with and be available for pets throughout the entire day. I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to stay with pets all day or drop in as needed. I’m a very attentive pet lover - always playing with/petting them. Odds are I’ll pay more attention to them than my job during work hours.

About: Hi there! I can’t wait to welcome your pet into my home. Dogs and cats who stay here are treated like guests of honor, with all the care and attention I bestow upon my own pets. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, pets are allowed to roam freely in a cozy, familiar home environment — no rows of kenneled dogs here! I’m very selective about the pets I accept. I usually only accept a maximum of 3-4 dogs at once. I meet every new pet before booking, and I usually won’t accept more than one new dog at a time, alongside repeat clients. This ensures that I’m familiar with how all the dogs will interact with each other, with only one new variable, thus avoiding potentially uncomfortable or dangerous situations for your pet. I’ve always loved animals, and with more than 15 years of pet care under my belt, I have the knowledge and experience to provide your pets with the best care possible. I take the responsibility of caring for your pets very seriously, and I’m certified by the American Red Cross in Cat and Dog First Aid. Earliest drop off or pickup is at 8 am. Latest drop off or pickup is at 8 pm on weekdays, 9 pm on weekends. I’m also available for drop-ins at your home, every day except Saturday mornings. (I’m available Saturday evenings instead.) For Dogs: I have a large, unfenced backyard that dogs love exploring on a 50-foot long leash - so many scents to sniff and chipmunks to chase! I’m always there to monitor them - dogs are never left alone outdoors. Water is always available, and I work from home so I’m around the majority of the day to keep them happy and safe. What you’ll need to send: Their regular food is the most important thing to send, as dogs can get upset stomach from sudden dietary changes. You can also send their favorite treats, and a favorite toy. If they tend to pull on the leash, a front-latch harness, rubber-tipped prong collar, or gentle leader is appreciated. Bowls, beds, brushes, litter bags etc. are all unnecessary, as I have extras of all these supplies. For puppies, a crate may be necessary, depending on their level of potty training. For Cats: The cats have a comfy lounge downstairs, with food, water, litter boxes, and scratching posts. The dogs are not allowed downstairs, so the cats can get all the space they need from the dogs. The cats are free to move upstairs and downstairs as they prefer. All cats are indoors only. I have a lot of wide, accessible windowsills that they love chilling on to watch birds and squirrels outside, as well as battery-operated and automated toys that they can chase and play with on their own. What you’ll need to send: their regular food (wet and dry) and treats. Cat litter is also appreciated. I work from home, so my schedule is flexible and I’m home most of the day. I have a spacious home that can accommodate giving multiple animals space, and I can keep animals separated from each other if necessary. I've always loved animals of all kinds, and I currently have my own dog and 3 cats. I can't wait to meet your pet, and I promise to love them and care for them the way every pet deserves to be loved!

Great experience!! Marisa just finished several days of daily drop-ins for my three precious brother cats. They had the same sitter for almost nine years in TX, but we moved back to NY and did not have anyone here yet for nearly two years. I was so nervous about having a new sitter because our cats require so much TLC and laptime, and so one of us always stayed behind with them. I knew the moment I walked in from our trip, that the kitties were calm and happy. Marisa gave them so much TLC and kept me informed daily with photos and reports about how well they were adjusting. Marisa is truly an animal person, and I could see how they naturally took to her right away. She was thorough and confident with instructions and care, and she reassured me that they would be in good hands!!! Very true and very happy to share that!!

About: I grew up in a dog‑loving home and had the privilege of caring for several breeds over the years — first a Boxer, then a Siberian Husky, later a German Shepherd/Malamute mix, and eventually a Pomeranian. Being around such different personalities taught me how to understand dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Because of that experience, family, neighbors, and friends have always trusted me to check in on their pets, feed them, play with them, and make sure they feel safe and cared for. I also accept rabbits and small pets for boarding. Owners must provide cage, food, and supplies. Because I work from home, I’m able to give your dog consistent attention and care all day long. Whether it’s playtime, potty breaks, or just keeping them company, I’m always close by. I also offer 24/7 boarding availability, ensuring your pet has a safe, supervised environment at all times. Your dog will have plenty of room to feel at home here. I live on an acre of land with a dog run and a peaceful neighborhood that’s ideal for daily walks. There’s even a small pond with geese right across the street, which many dogs find entertaining. Inside, the living room is designated as comfortable, pet‑friendly space where your dog can relax. I also provide a crate for dogs who prefer a cozy, enclosed sleeping area.

About: What sets me apart is how deeply I care about your dog’s emotional experience when you’re not there. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone else, and my intention is always to create a sense of calm, safety, and genuine love. I pay close attention to their energy, their needs, and their comfort, so they never feel anxious or alone. With my background working with Guiding Eyes for the Blind and as a veterinary nurse, I bring both intuition and experience to every interaction, whether I’m caring for a playful puppy or a gentle senior. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine because I already live a structured, active lifestyle centered around consistency and responsibility. I walk my own dog multiple times a day and spend time outdoors on local trails and along the Hudson River. I plan my schedule intentionally, which allows me to be reliable, punctual, and fully present for each dog I care for. This is not something I squeeze in. It is something I prioritize and build my day around. I care for every dog as if they were my own, with a strong focus on making them feel safe, calm, and loved in their environment. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I follow their routine closely so nothing feels unfamiliar or stressful. I pay attention to their behavior, energy, and comfort, and adjust my approach to meet their individual needs. I keep communication open with owners so they always feel at ease, knowing their dog is not just being watched, but truly cared for.

About: I’ve been an animal lover since the womb! I also currently work as a vet assistant at Spring Valley Animal Hospital. I can also honestly say I love animals more than humans :) My schedule at my current job varies. I get my new schedule for the next week every Thursday. About: I grew up in Oklahoma on 90 acres with cows, horses, cats, and dogs. I've always had a passion for animals and the outdoors. One of the unique experiences I offer is adventure outings for your pup. Living near the beach allows me to provide refreshing beach walks, and as an avid hiker, I also enjoy taking dogs on scenic trail adventures where they can safely explore and enjoy nature. I currently have two dogs of my own—a Miniature Dachshund and a German Shepherd mix we rescued. If your dog would benefit from a positive, supervised social outing, I’m happy to provide that as well. Growing up, I regularly cared for and walked neighbors’ and family members’ pets, so I understand how important it is to find someone you trust. My goal is to give you peace of mind while your pet has a fun, enriching experience. You can rest assured that your furry family members will be cared for and loved as if they were my own. As a full-time dog dad to my two pups, I maintain a flexible schedule and am readily available to help ensure your pets receive the care and attention they deserve. Whether it’s a quick neighborhood walk for exercise or an extended stay with a pet who needs a little extra companionship, I’m here to provide dependable, attentive care. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you’re away, knowing your pets are safe, happy, and fully cared for. I am committed to providing a high level of personalized care and attention to every client. I ensure that when you book a walk or service with me, your pets receive my full, undivided focus. This dedicated one-on-one time allows me to tailor each visit to your pet’s individual needs, personality, and routine. I also have a spacious SUV available for safe transportation if needed. For dogs who enjoy a little extra adventure, I offer nature hikes as an additional service, giving them the opportunity to explore and exercise in a safe, supervised environment. Feel free to send me a message with what you’re looking for, and I’ll respond as soon as possible. I look forward to connecting with you and your pets!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 11,572 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Haverstraw. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Haverstraw. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
