Britt was amazing and patient with our senior, skittish, giant breed dogs! I cannot say enough nice things about her wonderful photos, updates, personality and obvious love and care for our animals and will be using her each and every time we need a dog sitter. We’re new to the area and were very nervous about finding a new “person” for our dogs but Britt really went above and beyond this Christmas for our old ladies. Love her to pieces!

Elizabeth is amazing! She took such good care of our two dogs while we were out of town and gracefully dealt with some unfortunate HVAC trouble. She’s an excellent communicator, reliable and super thoughtful. Thank you so much Elizabeth, we’ll be in touch next time we go out of town!

About: I've taken care of dogs & cats for as long as I can remember. We keep our pets until they pass that rainbow bridge. I am very reliable and will always send updated photos every time I am with your pet to remind you they are in good hands. I am also experienced with large breeds and the tiniest of pets! Located in Petal, near the Library area 😊 Early mornings before school, or in the evenings are great as well. I usually sit outside with a cup of coffee in the morning so they can run around, then in the evening the door is open with free roam to come in & out. If care is done in my home we have a fenced-in covered fence backyard and two of our own dogs to play with. I also have two playful children who can play fetch for hours! If care is done in your home depending on being watched in a fenced backyard or on a leash. Your dog will be watched and given the attention they deserve.

About: Although my family has never owned a dog, I have always loved taking care of my aunts, neighbors, and family friends dogs. I always make sure to pay attention to detail when watching a dog and meet each dogs needs whether that be a walk, playing with a toy, belly rubs, or even just relaxing. As a graduate student at USM, I will have time during the day for a dog walk, or to check-in on your pup! I will be available on most weekends for house and dog sitting. I am available to come to your dog and stay with him/her so they do not have to move out of their comfortable environment and stay at a new space with new people.

About: I was a dolphin trainer for 7 years and have had dogs my whole life! I have experience with training animals and boarding them as well. I am a stay at home mom of an adorable 14 month old baby so I have LOTS of time on my hands. I also have a one year old puppy that I take care of as well. I live 5 minutes from the dog park and try to take my dog there daily. If I can’t make it to the park I will walk him around my apartment complex. We are a very pet friendly home!

About: To me, our pets are like family. They deserve to have the best care available since they are dependent on us to provide for them. I enjoy spending time with animals and will follow their routines so they feel comfortable and safe. I am a detail-oriented person — I will make sure your pets are cared for according to your directions, with a lot of cuddles sprinkled in (if they are snugglers). I am a freelance writer, semi-retired, so I have a lot of time on my hands to devote to animals in my care. I enjoy playing fetch or tug-of-war or providing whatever other stimulation your pet needs. For those who prefer to be alone or sleep all day, I'll respect their space and keep watch from a distance. I try to follow the routines of the pet parents, so the pets have some consistency while their family is away. That's also why I prefer to stay in the home, so they are in a place they already know and feel comfortable with. I feed at the designated times and am vigilant about potty breaks or cleaning litter boxes, taking walks or whatever else the pet does in the course of a typical day. I don't give table food or snacks to pets, and I will handle any type of emergency per your instructions. I love to take pictures and videos of your pets throughout the day and will send them to you, so you know your babies are doing great. I don't mind running errands or collecting the mail and other small tasks that may be needed while you are away.

About: Volunteering in animal shelters, fostering, and independent animal rescue work has given me years of experience in animal behavior and care. I live on a 7 acre rural homestead with lots of room to walk dogs. We do not have a fence so visiting dogs will always be on leash. I have a large room set aside as my petsitting room so that your pet can move around freely and we can have plenty of room to play and snuggle. My personal pets love other animals and are always up to date on vetting, so if they are compatible, they are more than welcome to romp and play with my fun crew! I currently work from home as a part time tutor and homesteader, so I am available to give your pets all the attention they need. Pet care is personalized. I will discuss your animals’ needs with you and we will determine what will work best for them in the way of living and sleeping arrangements. I’m very flexible and want what is best for your fur baby. Pet care is already a staple in my daily life. I'm a nurturer by nature. I often drive transports with 40+ dogs and cats cross country to their adopters and have to care for them all! I have one rescue dog who is very timid and dog friendly. She sometimes comes with me when I dogsit and sometimes stays at home with my partner, just depending on the situation.

About: I’m great at giving medicine, cat and dogs alike, as i’ve done it personally with my own pets and others pets. I’m great at following instructions and learning each individual pet and their needs. Family and friends have trusted me to take care of their pets so you can trust me with your fur baby! About: I love all pets like they are my own. My kids and dog love pets. We love outdoors and would love to give my kids more experience with other animals outside of our own. I am available almost everyday all day long. When I need to run out for usually no more than an hour. I am just a loving pet owner that would like to help bring in additional income while having fun and spending time with my family. I can not wait to meet your dog and love on them. All animals must show proof of vaccinations being up to date. As well as be on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention. I work from home right now with plenty of free time to come to play with your fur babies. I can house sit every other weekend. Willing to come to you or pet whenever needed to assist in all daily activities. Also willing to house sit in your home if needed.

About: I have always loved and cared for all animals, my family has consistently kept at least 1 dog and 1 cat in the household, and I became an active caretaker of our animals around age 9. Although I began with my family pets, I have consistently taken care of others animals for 2 years. In that time I have worked with many dog sizes and their resulting personalities. Additionally I have experience handling multiple animals at once. I enjoy getting to know each animal and finding what they like and need. I keep things calm and consistent so they feel comfortable while you’re away. I am in college, so my schedule is subject to change—please check my calendar for the most up-to-date availability. I will be traveling between Starkville and Laurel areas in Mississippi. I live in town and like to keep dogs (and myself) active with regular walks and time outside. I pay attention to how each pet behaves so I can adjust to what they’re comfortable with, whether that’s pace, distance, or time. I will follow your instructions closely and make sure your pet stays safe and your home is respected. I will also keep communication clear to ensure you are aware of any events.

About: I’ve always had animals growing up. I was the one to take care of the family pets. I was the one in the neighborhood to ask to take care of their animals. I currently have animals of my own too. I have plenty of experience taking care of all kinds of animals. I currently stay at home full time, I can always take care of your pet's needs. I also do this with my girlfriend so there is always someone taking care of them. I have a fenced in yard, that they can freely play in. I have several cats if they need someone to play with or I can separate them if needed.

About: I've owned dogs and cats since I was about 9 or 10. I have no problem with walking and cleaning up after animals. I've done it for years. I'm seeking to obtain a part-time job at a supermarket, so I'll be available throughout the week and sometimes on weekends to care for your animals. The dogs that I've had in the past normally had plenty of room in the yard to roam free. I also owned smaller dogs which were kept in the house which had to same opportunities as our bigger dogs.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hattiesburg

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hattiesburg on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 50 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hattiesburg. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hattiesburg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hattiesburg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hattiesburg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
