About: Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by dogs of all sizes and breeds, from a beloved Cocker Spaniel to two Giant Schnauzers and later a Pit Bull. Each one helped shape my love and understanding of animals and taught me how unique every pet’s personality can be. Today, I’m the proud owner of a French Bulldog who keeps me on my toes and a pet snake, giving me experience caring for both traditional and exotic pets. I’ve also spent time around cats through friends and family and am comfortable caring for feline companions as well. While attending Ball State University, I volunteered at local animal shelters, helping care for animals and supporting their daily needs. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, playful, or senior, I understand the importance of providing patience, attention, and loving care. I treat every animal as if they were my own and strive to make them feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Pet care is already a part of my daily routine, as I currently care for my own pets and understand the importance of consistency, attention, and reliability. I work as a State Farm agent in Chicago’s West Loop, and because it is a family-owned business that my family manages and operates daily, I have some flexibility within my schedule when needed. During the week, I am available for pet care before work, after work, and during my lunch break. Depending on the day and my workload, I may also have additional flexibility to accommodate specific care needs. On weekends, I typically have more availability and can provide extra time and attention for walks, drop-in visits, overnight care, and companionship. I am careful not to overbook myself because I believe every pet deserves quality care and attention. When I accept a booking, you can trust that I have the time and availability to provide dependable, attentive care and ensure your pet remains safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away. At this time, I’m unable to offer boarding services in my home due to my own pets. However, I am happy to provide a variety of other services, including drop-in visits, dog walking, overnight stays, and personalized in-home pet care. My goal is to ensure your pets remain comfortable in their familiar environment while receiving the attention, companionship, and care they deserve. Whether your pet needs playtime, feeding, medication administration, exercise, or simply a reassuring presence while you’re away, I am committed to providing safe, reliable, and compassionate care tailored to their needs.
“Kathryn went above and beyond taking care of ALL our animals. We received pictures and updates daily. Our pets always looked so relaxed and peaceful in all the pictures. We had a stress free vacation knowing all our babies were well taken care of. We highly recommend Kathryn and will definitely use her again in the future.”

“Cheyenne took amazing care of our pup! He was sick right before we left for almost 2 weeks and she administered all his medications, sent us lots of photo/video updates and was super responsive. Highly recommend!”

“Alexis was a fantastic sitter. She was very attentive to our pups. One requires meds in her food twice a day and was well taken care of. She stayed with them and kept them comfortable with their separation anxiety from us and played in the yard every day. The house was clean and well maintained when we arrived home. I would highly recommend Alexis, she truly cares about animals and was a great house guest as well”

“Grace was everything we needed and everything our dogs and cats needed! Two of my dogs need meds and they got those without any problem. They all ate for her (one is pretty timid but Grace found a way!). They even snuggled on the couch with her and slept next to her overnight! The house was spotless when we came home - she even took out the trash and brought the trashcans in from the curb! Her communication was great - gave me updates, photos, and even a couple of videos :-) If you have read this far, please do not hesitate to hire her!”

“We had an absolutely wonderful experience with her! She looked after our Basenjis yesterday while we were away at a wedding, and we couldn’t be happier. Basenjis can be a unique breed to manage, but she was incredibly attentive, responsible, and kept us updated the whole time. It was such a relief knowing they were in safe, caring hands. We will definitely be booking her again!”

“Tara is outstanding! She goes above & beyond. Tara is very kind to my dogs & treats them like her own babies. I can tell they were so happy and well taken care of. My dogs love her & we appreciate the comfort & walks she provided to them.”

About: I’ve always loved taking care of my furry and not so furry friends!! I grew up in a home full of dogs and a vast range of animals such as reptiles, amphibians, and other aquatic life etc. I’m currently working from home so my schedule is generally open as far as Monday-Friday. I’m available throughout the entire weekend as well. I like to keep the animals in my care on a schedule so they aren’t stressed, I prioritize (the animal’s) comfortability and structure because that’s just what makes sense. It’s my duty to ensure your furry friend can have fun AND be safe so please bombard me with any and all information!!!
About: I was born and raised with Dobermans by my side, but my expertise does not just span large dogs--but also small dogs, puppies, seniors, cats, and other furry friends. I’ve been a reliable pet sitter, taking care of my friend’s and family’s cats and dogs. I’ve ensured they’re well-fed, entertained, and they have taken care of business 💩. I’ve stayed at homes and made drop-in visits, so I can provide flexible care. I understand that your pets are like family members, so I’ll treat them with the same patience and respect they deserve! I am currently working part time at an office and applying for other jobs. I have a lot of extra time on my hands and I am looking to fill it by spending time with animals and getting my steps in! I am open for last minute bookings!!! I prioritize your pet’s comfort by following your specific care routine. My process begins by gaining your pet's trust through a calm, patient approach, ensuring they feel safe before we dive into anything. I like to keep the line of communication open with the pet parent to ensure transparency throughout the whole process. I maintain a consistent schedule for feeding, potty breaks, and affection to minimize any anxiety they may face without their typical routine away from parents.
“Jante was on time, caring and most importantly—could handle my leash aggressive big boy with ease. The animals enjoyed him and we enjoyed our vacation knowing they were well taken care of. Will definitely rebook!”

“Vanessa did an amazing job looking after my senior dogs in my home while I was away for several days. She sent me daily updates and pictures so I knew my dogs were well taken care of. She also left my apartment clean.”

About: Hi, I’m Chanty. I’m based in Oak Forest and love spending time outdoors with dogs. I had a Yorkie for 15 years, so I’ve cared for dogs through all stages of life. I’ve also helped care for pit bulls, rescued young pups, and regularly look after my sister’s Maltese. I treat animals like family. I care for them with the same love and attention I’d give my own, playing and interacting with them based on their needs and energy, while also keeping up with routines, cleanliness, and any special needs they may have. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone new, so I am happy to meet you and your pup beforehand. I also make it a point to keep you updated during visits with photos, messages, and anything else that would help you feel connected and reassured while you’re away. I get around by bike and offer nearby walks and drop-ins full of play, love and personalized care. Whether your pup needs adventure, calm companionship, or even just a bath, I’d love to help out! Pet care fits easily into my routine because I work freelance online and create my own schedule. I’m very flexible and can adapt week to week to meet your needs, whether you need a regular walker or occasional drop-ins! When I’m in someone else’s home or caring for their pet, I treat it all with the same respect I treat my own. You can trust that I will follow whatever routines or instructions you give me, and I always leave things clean and as I found them. I try to really tune into each animal’s mood and needs so they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.
“Rob watched our two pets on a long weekend and was great. We love a lot of communication - and he kept us posted and sent us many pictures. Very professional and our pets loved him. We would definitely recommend!”

Nicole came in clutch with a last minute house sitting for our two cats, one of which is sick. She did such a great job looking after them and administering oral medication. Extremely communicative, attentive to detail, and truly caring for our pets. Went above and beyond. Highly recommend and we are excited to work with Nicole again soon!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 7,318 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Harvey. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harvey walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harvey maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harvey choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harvey. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
