“Ellen is terrific. Her beautiful spacious farm provides a great change for dogs like mine who are inside an urban house. She is kind, thoughtful, and flexible.. I would recommend her to anyone.”

“Steph is the GOAT! Look no further for someone to love and care for your fur baby while you’re away. We are so fortunate to have discovered her on Rover. She is absolutely phenomenal. She was very prompt and thorough in communicating with us. She’s an excellent communicator and extremely caring. We enjoyed receiving pictures of our dog and felt relaxed and at peace knowing he was in her care. We had complete confidence in her and think the world of her.”

“Thank you so much for taking such phenomenal care of Snoopy! You completely put our minds at ease from the start. The daily photo updates were great and put our minds at ease. It was clear that he was in good hands. Snoopy came home happy and relaxed and we will definitely be booking again!”

“Darby has really gone above expectations. Given my puppy's young age, she has require some additional patience and understanding. I'm nothing but grateful and impressed with the care. My pup is clearly enjoying her time with Darby and the other dogs in her care.”

“Our 14 year old dog came home with more energy than when we dropped him off. Silvia & Roberto are very nice and cared for Hunter very well. Would definitely use them again.”

“Chloe was the perfect choice for our family and dog! Chloe cared for our 1.5 year old sheepdog mix Gary like he was her own. It was his first time leaving him anywhere for so long so we were nervous, especially since we were leaving the country. Chloe shared lots of photos and videos which made us feel even more confident in our choice to use her. Our pup was happy, busy and exhausted- just the way you want a young dog! We will for sure use Chloe again- she was amazing!”

“Rachel and Jason were great with Kilo. Super accomodating with him. Sent me photos and videos. I genuinely felt like Kilo was in great hands. They were attentive to his behaviors and managed his anxiety very well. I would 100% use their services again.”

“Kane had an incredible time with Jacob and his crew of amazing dogs. I got pics sent to me to where Kane was even attached at the hip with his beautiful blue eyed husky. If your dog loves to be around other high energy dogs Jacob is the sitter that you want.”

“Tina communicated well and sent me pictures of my dog while I was away. She responded right away whenever I sent her a message as well. I will be using her in the future whenever it is needed! Thank you!”

“Couldn’t be more grateful for finding this family. Imer and Michelle are the best. We are so happy to have them as neighbors. Our dogs loved them. Imer sending update for our dogs two or three times of a day.”

“She was able to work with our unfortunate last minute schedule change (completely my fault) and helped make it work! Super grateful. As always Blaze is so happy to go and runs to them when we drop him off! Consistently rebooking haha!”

“Rebecca was fantastic! She took very good care of my dogs and provided updates and was very responsive. I unfortunately did not have the correct dates for my vacation but she went out of her way to not only watch my dogs for the extra night but got them additional food and she was very kind about it when it was my mistake. I would definitely recommend her.”

About: Hi there! I’m Courtney – lifelong animal lover, seasoned pet parent, and your pet’s next favorite human. 🐾 From fluffy kittens to wise senior pups, I’ve cared for just about every kind of furry (and finned!) friend you can think of - cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits… basically everything except the slithery and scaly crew (sorry, lizards and snakes, you're adorable but not my specialty!). With a lifetime of experience and a current household that includes four cats and two dogs (yes, it’s as wonderfully chaotic as it sounds), I’ve seen it all - from zoomies and belly rubs to insulin shots and joint supplements. I’ve raised pets from their earliest days through to their golden years, including those with special needs like hip dysplasia and diabetes. Administering routine meds and providing compassionate, attentive care is just part of the package. I know firsthand that pets are family, and when you're away, you deserve peace of mind knowing your beloved companions are safe, happy, and well cared for. Whether your pet is a snuggly couch potato, an energetic explorer, or a quirky little character with special routines, I’ll treat them like one of my own. Let’s make your time away as stress-free as a sunny nap in a windowsill. ☀️🐕🐈⬛ I have a flexible daytime desk job, allowing me to set my own schedule and typically wrapping each day by 5p so my evenings are free. I'm happily married and my husband also works a flexible day job so he is able to hold down the fort with our pets and teens so that I can take care of your family when you're away! I'd love to provide your pet with drop-in care that suits their individual and unique needs, whether that's going for walks, playing in an enclosed yard, or hanging out for a bit for belly rubs, cuddles, and treats. I'm flexible to each pet's needs and want to be sure they feel loved and cared for in your absence. And of course, it's important to me to be sure they are in a clean, safe, fed environment during the times that I'm not there - whether that means making sure water dishes are full, messes are cleaned up, doors are secured, temperatures are comfortable, etc. I've worked with pets who prefer crate-training to those who are allowed free reign, and am comfortable with whatever YOUR structure is for your pet. If they're happy, I'm happy.
“I felt very at ease leaving Diesel with Frances! Diesel had plenty of safe space to play and went for walks. He went on a short trip to Belle Island. Frances also gave him his daily medicine. And I loved the picture she sent me. With her background I was pretty sure she could handle my guy. I will definitely recommend Frances to others. Diesel looks forward to staying again with his new buddy! ”
“Sammy had such a great stay with Jena at The Doggy Den 🐾 She kept me updated with pictures and videos, and he clearly had the best time playing his heart out lol. Communication was always prompt and professional, and I really appreciated her letting me know whenever she had to step out briefly. The space is calm and beautiful with a huge fenced-in backyard, and she even kept Sammy in his familiar sleeping setup. I felt completely comfortable leaving him in her care—we’ll definitely be booking again soon 💛”

“Kathleen and her family took great care of Juneau. We arranged a Meet & Greet in advance to ensure a successful stay. They sent photos and updates so we knew our girl was having fun while we were away.”

“We had an exceptional experience and couldn’t be happier with our dog’s stay with Lora! Our dog, Frankie, stayed with Lora for 11 days over Christmas and New Year’s, and she had the best time. Lora was incredibly responsive to all our texts, providing us with regular updates and pictures, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Lora was also very accommodating when we had to make last-minute changes to the drop-off date and pick-up time, showing just how flexible and understanding she is. Frankie seemed so content and happy when we picked her up, and it was clear she had been well taken care of. We highly recommend Lora to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog boarder. We will definitely be using her again in the future. Thank you, Lora, for making Frankie’s stay so wonderful!”

“Brittney took such great care of Pluto. Being new to the area and in need of someone to look after Pluto she helped me feel at ease. She sent me updates and pics throughout his stay. I will definitely being him back. He had such a good time.”

About: Hello, my name is Danielle. I used work as a veterinary technician and I am looking to drop in pet sit and walk pets on my off time. I personally have 3 dogs and 4 cats so I am very much used to taking care of pets on a daily basis. I am also experienced in pet first aid and dog/cat CPR experienced. I can also watch small caged animals in my home. I have experience with some exotics and small 'pocket' pets. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you! In the mornings I make sure all of my pets are taken care of then after my kids are off to school I am available to come check in on your fur babies! I always make sure doors are shut and fences are secure for outside time. I always make sure leashes fit snuggly to reduce the risk of a leash slip.
“We booked Kyla and Cody not just for boarding our pup, but for drop-in visits with our other critters. Kyla and Cody were fantastic! We had some unique instructions, and nothing fazed them. They were great about providing updates and photos, asked questions when appropriate, and overall just gave us a sense of relief that our babies would be in good hands so that we could truly relax while we were away from home. Plus our pup found a great new friend in their dog while in their home.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Harney home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Harney.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Harney sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
