“Our dog Lulu had a blast and was well cared for with Ellie! She was very proactive about getting all the details to make sure she was at home, and she had so much fun playing with her dogs! We would recommend her to anyone and ask to board with her again!”

“Once again Stephanie and Max took great care of our fur babies. We received pictures each day of them having fun. They love the big yard and being able to run around it. We never worry about our dogs when they are with Stephanie and Max.”

“We were extremely pleased with Lyra & Scott! They took great care of our dog Bella. She is an older dog and I was hesitant leaving her, but they made Bella feel very comfortable. They sent me photos of Bella and she had a great stay with them. I will definitely use them again when we visit Williamsburg!”

“Erin and the family were great. I needed a sitter for Lyla on short notice and fortunately they were available. The day I picked Lyla up, she slept most of the rest of the day. I took that as a sign that she had a fun time. I would book them again if I have another occasion.”

“Bryan and his family took great care of our chihuahua when we where away for a month. He did amazing at keeping us updated on how she was doing and gave us peace of mind during our vacation. This is the second time we leave our dog with this family. I completely recommend them! They are an animal loving family and truly care for pets.”

“Max is unable to be boarded in a facility. Having Elisabeth care for Max has been a godsend as I’m finally able to plan get away trips. I can relax and enjoy my time knowing he’s receiving great care.”
“Cristen and her family are wonderful to work with. It’s clear they love animals and treat all the dogs that stay with them as their own. Would definitely recommend them!”

“Jackie & Kevin took great care of my pup. They provided daily updates which gave me comfort. Rocky felt so comfortable to be his 73 pound lap dog self and they loved that.”

“Best part about my pup's stay with Suzanne: She let Jackson be Jackson. He was able to just lounge around her house or wander around her yard as he pleased. And he got lots of snuggles. :-)”
“Christene did a fantastic job of easing any anxiety we had about leaving Gambino for an extended long weekend. Gambino was well cared for and we will feel very comfortable booking services with Christene in the future!”

About: I have 13 years of experience with both cats and dogs, from overnight boarding at my home to drop-in visits in yours. I value communication and make sure you stay updated while your pets receive loving care! I’m currently working part-time, and my shifts are only 3 hours, so your dog will never go long without a potty break. I can do dog walking and drop-in care anytime after 12:30 p.m. on weekdays. We have a pet-friendly home. I have my 9-year-old daughter as well as my dog, a mini poodle. We also have a fenced in backyard. I live in a neighborhood for military housing that has plenty of space for walking and various parks.
“Dickson and Mily were great with my babies. I was nervous about leaving them with a bigger dog but they assured me that they knew their dog and that they'd all be playing in no time. Sure enough, after about an hour I was sent a video of my dogs getting along with theirs. The entire time I was gone I got many updates, videos and pictures; it looked like my dogs were on vacation! Dickson and Mily really love dogs and treated my dogs like family. They also picked them up and dropped them off which made my busy life so much easier!”

“Kamie and Patrick are the absolute best! We got the most amazing updates — both written, video, and photos— and the amount of love and attention Apollo got was absolutely heartwarming. We really appreciated everything they did to make Apollo feel loved while we were away ❤️”

“Maggie took great care of Haru, she is very attentive and sent us daily updates while we were away. Our dog was very happy. I definitely recommend Maggie if you need someone trustworthy and reliable to watch your pet.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Harcum
Victor and Abigail took Beau in at the last minute due to a family emergency where we needed Beau cared for overnight, we are so grateful for them! Beau of course had a great time playing with his pups and we were relieved knowing he was cared for while we took care of our family.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Harcum home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Harcum.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Harcum sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
