About: Hi, I’m Rachel, and I’ve been caring for animals for over two decades. For the past several years, I’ve traveled the country as a trusted pet sitter through reputable apps and personal referrals, providing high-quality care in homes across the U.S. What began as a lifelong love for animals has grown into a full-time calling rooted in reliability, intuition, and genuine respect for the pets and families I serve. Now that I’m back home, I’m excited to offer local pet care with the same level of professionalism and heart I’ve brought to every sit nationwide. Your pets’ comfort, safety, and happiness will always be my top priority :) I’m a homebody who works from home, so pet care fits perfectly into my day. I’m around to give them attention, keep them company, and make sure they feel safe and loved the whole time. I care for pets in other peoples homes currently, if it’s family, friends or clients I’ve met throughout the years, my main priority is to ensure a safe and healthy environment for every animal. This includes bathing, always making sure they have food and water/or following specific feeding times, play time, walks, pets, relaxation time.

Elizabeth truly went above and beyond as a dog sitter for our puppy Fausto. We found ourselves in a last-minute bind while on vacation and reached out to her through Rover.com. Despite the distance and logistical challenges involved in getting to us, Elizabeth immediately offered her assistance without hesitation. Her kindness and willingness to go the extra mile were evident from the start. From the moment Elizabeth arrived, it was clear that Fausto was in excellent hands. She showered him with love and attention, treating him as if he were her own. We felt incredibly fortunate to have found someone so caring and dedicated to looking after our furry family member. Communication was seamless throughout the entire process. Elizabeth was consistently responsive to our texts and provided regular updates on Fausto's well-being. This level of attentiveness gave us peace of mind knowing that he was happy and thriving under her care. In summary, I cannot recommend Elizabeth highly enough to anyone in need of a dog sitter. Her commitment to prioritizing the needs of the pets entrusted to her care is truly exceptional. If you're searching for a top-tier sitter who will treat your dog with the utmost love and respect, look no further than Elizabeth. She exceeded our expectations in every way possible, and we are immensely grateful for her exceptional service.

About: I have a clean and accessible apartment for boarding on pets. I have experience leashing wild dogs and motivating shy dogs to go on walks and potty breaks. I will take such great care of your pet that they won't want to leave! I work as on on-call catering chef some nights of the week. I am also a student at the University of Denver. I like to work out in the mornings and chill mid-day if I don't have class. This summer I am only taking one in person class so I have loads of time to take care of your dog or cat! I will play with the dogs and their toys in the living room give them my full attention. I will also take your dogs out for frequent walks and potty breaks outside. If you have a hyper dog, I will try to tire them out so they are ready to fall asleep at night.

Maria was an absolute lifesaver. She stepped in on very short notice to care for my dog, Rizzo, and handled everything flawlessly. She was comfortable administering his insulin, kept me updated throughout the morning, and sent pictures so I knew he was doing well. On top of that, she safely transported him to his next destination without any issues. It gave me huge peace of mind knowing Rizzo was in such capable and attentive hands. Maria was reliable, communicative, and clearly very experienced with dogs who have medical needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

Jennifer and Emily meet in the morning of the November 15. Emily can be very shy. She immediately like Jennifer. I certainly did too! She is so sweet. She talked so nicely with Emily. We disgusted how she can be shy and she is afraid of most things. Talked food time and bathroom habits. Jennifer left and then came back for the appointed time. Emily was very happy to see her. Jennifer provided many pictures of their time together while I was out. My Emily was happy to see me come back but, not about Jennifer leaving. Emily went to hide after she left. She was upset with me that Jennifer had left. She ignored me for the rest of the night. Jennifer had made quite an impression on her. Jennifer is an unbelievable person. Hiring her would be a blessing to you and your pet. I give her 10 out of 10.

Gavin was GREAT! He stayed with and played with our two kids (dogs) and lived in our home in East Hampton for close to 3 weeks while we were in New Zealand. While we were away he kept in constant touch with us supplying an endless stream of photos and videos clearly evincing the progress of the dogs trauma of us leaving, with the initial photo of the dogs look of being held hostage (semi joke) to the next of enjoyment with and of the dogs and the dogs change too). He clearly loved them and they loved him back. He is VERY communicative and we appreciated it. He follows direction well and since he lives nearby to us didn't have to travel far to take care of his other responsibilities such as other dogs (like his own). A very responsible fellow and will of course use him again when we return from FL.

Neighbors, friends, family & clients have relied on me to care for their furry friends and I’ve loved getting to know each one. I am pet CPR & First aid Certified. I work as a nanny from 11-5 as well as dog sitting overnights frequently. I work as a nanny from 11-5 in Southampton. College is online so that won’t be a problem right now. My scheduled days can change but shifts are no longer than 6 hours at a time, Mon-Fri. I live in Sayville. I have plenty of time in the morning & afternoon for long walks and fetch! My weekends are completely free. I will take wonderful care of your pets as if they were my own. My pups love to play outside and get lots of attention so I want to share the love!! It’s always fun getting to know your dogs and cats. I have built a trusted clientele over the last 3 years of being on Rover. About: My name is Alex and I would love to care for your furbabies as if they were my own! I host one family at a time (up to three pets from the same family). This ensures a premium experience for your pet that is calm, friendly and enjoyable. I do not have children or any pets of my own-this way I am be able to maintain a stress free environment for your pet to avoid any anxiety or nervousness around children or new animals. It is my job to put you and your pets at ease while you are away or busy. I want to ensure a stress free experience for all. 🐾 I will always be around to supervise the animals while I petsit! I offer a happy and calming experience for your pet in which they will enjoy lots of attention and cuddles/playtime from me or naps and comfort time and relaxing music should they desire. I’ve taken care of a number pets throughout my life. I grew up with small terriers and had fish too. Friends animals were always like my own. I adopted my beloved cat Calvin when I was 21 and in December 2022, 11 years later, he passed away leaving a hole in my heart. He had many health problems such as asthma and IBS, for which he was on several daily medications. This taught me to administer oral medication in pill pockets and use an inhaler attachment for him. I miss being around animals in general now that he’s been gone. I am looking so much forward to being able to provide boarding in my lakeside home. At this time, I’m not able to offer housesitting, very happily offer drop ins house sits and walks! Kindly note: * if your dog has a history of aggression towards people or has indoor accidents frequently I will not be able to host them. *Experience with breeds such as greyhounds, who may need a more quiet atmosphere I am available consistently at the moment as I run a part time home business. 24 hour consistent time with your pet is ensured. If they wish they can also sleep in the bedroom/bed. The fenced yard is big enough to run around supervised and also has tiered retaining walls. I also have a separate area for a cat(s) and a walk in closet style litter box “room”. I have plenty of toys, treats and catnip. At this time, I’m not able to offer boarding, very happily offer drop ins house sits and walks!

Morgan is such a find! She was professional, communicative, and very sweet to our dog. She sent photos periodically throughout the day, which we really appreciated. In the very first pic, our standard poodle was lying on his back as she was petting him, so we know he felt comfortable. She was super low-impact too. The house looked exactly the same as when we left it. We will be using Morgan again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Greenport

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Greenport on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 458 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Greenport. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Greenport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Greenport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Greenport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Greenport. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
