About: We come from a loving pet family and love meeting new ones. My name is Mike, my wife is Ruby, and our son Lincoln, who is now in the Navy. We treat our two dogs like children. There are toys all over the house to play with and whenever they are tired they lay on our recliners or couch to sleep. We are able to follow any schedule and can provide medication if needed. Your loved ones will be treated like family ❤️ I will provide hands on care such as playing, walking or anything extra required. There will always be either myself or my wife at home. I work during the week days but my wife Ruby is home during the day. During the weekends we both are home. We have a fenced in yard and a park near by that we can walk to. Our two male dogs are neutered and we will only care for one family's pet(s) at a time.
“Jennifer was attentive and kept us updated at all times. She was very easy to work with and my dogs loved her. I would highly recommend booking with Jennifer. Your dogs will thank you for it.”

“Linda was fantastic! I have an older small dog (Bailey) who struggles with severe separation anxiety. Linda was unbelievably patience, taking things slow, making sure to reduce Bailey’s stress level. Bailey rarely eats when I’m away, but she actually ate for her. She sent me regular updates and pictures on how things were going. Linda’s kindness, patience, and attentiveness made a potentially stressful situation seamless for both Bailey and me. I highly recommend her to anyone with a dog (or any animal) who needs a calm, compassionate caretaker. I already have booked her again.”

About: Pets have been my passion for a long as I can remember! I grew up with them my whole life, and it inspired my passion to care for them into adulthood. I will care for your fur babies as I would care for my own! I’m an Army Veteran who currently works part time, which leaves me with plenty of time to love your pets and give them compassionate care. Every pet has unique personalities, and I enjoy getting to know what makes each one special. My daily pet care routine includes feeding, tidying up, and giving as much love or space as they prefer. I focus on keeping your pets routine consistent and their environment stress-free, so you can feel confident they're in good hands! When I care for your pets during drop-in visits, my priority is making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Every pet has their own personality, and I take the time to understand what makes them feel secure whether that’s quiet companionship, gentle play, or keeping a respectful distance.
“Courtney did a fantastic job taking care of our senior husky/shepherd mix while we were out of town for the weekend! He loved her the moment he met her at our meet and greet. She took him on multiple daily walks and gave him his food and meds on schedule. She always asked for clarification when needed, was very communicative and sent photo updates. We came home to a clean house and a cute framed pic of him that she took while she was here. Very thoughtful! So happy we found such a great dog sitter we can rely on!”

About: I’ve been raised around dogs my entire life and have hands-on experience caring for them in every stage — from playful puppies to seniors who need a little extra patience and attention. Having supported my own dogs through their later years, I understand how important gentle, attentive care is. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 2:30 PM, which means I’m available for early morning visits before work and have my full afternoons and evenings open for walks, drop-ins, feeding, playtime, and overnight care. Because I’m off mid-afternoon, your pet won’t be waiting all day for attention. I’m able to give them consistent, reliable care and quality time — whether that’s a calm check-in, an energetic walk, or simply extra cuddles to help them feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I will always care for your pet the way you feel most comfortable, especially in your own home. I carefully follow any instructions you leave — from feeding routines and medications to favorite toys and bedtime habits — because I know how important consistency is for their comfort and your peace of mind. If they stay in my home, they’ll be welcomed into a calm, loving environment alongside my two pets. They’ll have access to a fully fenced backyard where they can safely explore and enjoy fresh air. I’m able to separate from my cat if needed to ensure everyone feels secure and comfortable. While I’m not able to separate from my dog, he is well-socialized and used to being around other animals. My goal is always to create a safe, warm space where your pet feels cared for, understood, and at home.
“Her sister, Izabella came and watched Achilles for a few hours while we went to a Christmas party. I was very pleased with her attentiveness. She loved on him, took him out for a bit and kept me informed! .Thank you so much. I will definitely use her again!”

About: I have taken care of my family and friends animals since I was 14, I am now 20 and have worked with Animak Enforcement for a year at the LCSO. I have also volunteered at many Animal Shelters! I’m currently available at any point in time, animals fit into my active routine as taking on walks and caring intensively is something to look forward with me! I cannot do boarding at my home due to mom and sister being allergic :( I plan on having an animals sanctuary when I move out!
“Mary is a top notch sitter. Ruby genuinely took to her immediately. Mary was diligent about sending pictures and updates. She was attentive to Ruby’s health care needs. Will book her again. Highly recommend!”

“Our Dog, Blu, took to Destiny immediately (good sign) and I could tell she would be a great in-home sitter for our week away. She asked all the right questions regarding his care and feeding, took good care of him and our home, and communicated daily with updates. She ensured he went for walks and got lots of attention. I definitely recommend Destiny will book her again.”

“Megan was a pleasure to meet and she spoke highly about the Rover service and helped answer questions I had, as this was my first time using. I Highly recommend, Megan and the Rover service. She sent photos and took great care of my ESS, Ghia. I will always request her first - and I was very happy with the Rover service too.”

About: I’ve lovingly cared for dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, and reptiles since childhood. Always with patience, compassion, and a true passion for animals of all kinds. At the moment my job is taking care of my 3 year old. We spend our days going to the park and taking walks. Between our daily errands and the gym. So we have a very flexible schedule. I have a fenced yard with a mature tree for shade. That is where dogs will be when they’re outside. Inside I have a guest room to put a crate and when I am home I can have dogs inside roaming around the house.
About: I began watching dogs in my neighborhood about two years ago and have LOVED it since. I do all breeds and sizes! I am capable of watching multiple dogs at once if needed! Despite me working part-time in Mount Dora and in Clermont, neighbors and I have always found a way to work around it, whether I come right before/right after a shift or just simply depending on their dog’s own capabilities. In Mount Dora, I am typically only gone for about a maximum of 5-6 hours, while Clermont may be a little over 8. When watching inside the homes of my clients, I ensure to keep attentive focus on the dog(s) at all times. I ALWAYS use a leash when letting them out unless it is already a fenced in area. On walks, I use caution and stay alert with other possible dogs walking. I try to keep distance if I know a dog is reactive by either moving to the other side of the street or simply turning and walking the other direction.
About: While I excel in taking care of dogs - I do have a soft spot for all pets. I can take care of your cat(s) based on their mood/character and your preferences. I work from home with flexible hours - I can set up schedules based on your pet's needs. We will work things out and adjust/adapt if needed. Taking care of all your pets at very reasonable rates. Offering special rates for rescues in general and bully breeds in particular. Having owned the most misunderstood breed(s) most of my adult life I am rooting for the 'underdog' Pets are free-roaming friends in our house, but understand that at times secured personal space accommodations are needed. Our house is big enough to keep your pack and ours separated if there is no click. Your pet will never be unsupervised while under my care.

FAQs for House Sitting - Grand Island
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,618 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Grand Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grand Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grand Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grand Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Grand Island. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
