“Theresa stepped in last minute for my usual sitter and Grace warmed up to her quickly. Great updates and photos and I had a happy kittie upon my return. Definitely recommend!”

“Cynthia provided so much love and care for our two dogs while on vacation. We really appreciate how above and beyond she went for us, which really put our mind at ease while out of town. Thank you so much, Cynthia!”

About: Dogs are family, and for me, they are treated as such. No matter physical conditions, trauma, or behavior needs, they deserve to be treated with care and respect. With dogs I've owned, I've worked with epilepsy, cancer, extreme fear and PTSD, bully breeds, various medication requirements, and more. I also teach Veterinary Science to high school students and have a plethora or knowledge on animals science and behavior. I'm happy to assist you and your fluffy family with your needs. Dogs only unfortunately! Severely allergic to cats. I'm currently working full time as a agrigulture science high school teacher, so my hours are cemented on weekdays. Nearly all weekends and school breaks I have free. I have lived with dogs my entire live. As an adult, I've had dogs with severe behavior needs and others with heavy medical needs. I am well versed in physical and mental needs of dogs.
“Anika was amazing with our dog! She gave her plenty of loves and attention, and was very good about sending us updates and photos. Always on time and dependable. Our pup was very comfortable with Anika and well cared for.”

“Payson is an absolute gem! She is so caring, loving and attentive with our dog. You can clearly tell she loves dogs and all animals really. She provided lots of updates and pictures which we really appreciate. She even went above and beyond when our dog had an accident in the house too. I felt so comfortable with her taking care of our dog while we were away, especially with her background in vet care. We’re so glad we found Payson to help take care of our dog when we’re away!”

“Susan is amazing. She took amazing care of our dog while we were out of the country and allowed us to enjoy our travels without worrying about our beloved companion. Her communication was superb and her care and kindness are unmatched. We plan to use Susan for all of our future travel. I did not worry one bit and honestly that is priceless, photos and reports daily kept myself and my family at ease and even gave us a few laughs with our adorable pup showing off. Thank you Susan, your service to pet owners is a true gift. -❤️ The Haltom Family”

About: I've grown up with dogs my entire life and have always been surrounded by and dog-sat family members' pets for as long as I can remember. I love dogs of all shapes and sizes, and will treat and love your dog like my own. I understand the anxiety of leaving your fur baby behind when you have to go, and I know what it takes to find someone worthy of caring for one of the most precious parts of your life. My own dog has behavioral challenges, so I understand what it's like to care for dogs with different temperaments. Whether your pup is reactive toward other dogs, pulls on the leash, gets nervous around strangers, or just has their own quirks, I won't be fazed - I'll meet them where they are and work patiently at their pace! My schedule is very flexible right now since I just finished my PhD research and I’m currently figuring out my next steps. Morning, afternoon, and evening drop-ins are no problem at all, and weekends are just as open. I can also accommodate same-day and short-notice requests. I will be respectful of your home and leave it just the way I found it. And I'll keep you in the loop with photos and updates so you can relax knowing they're in good hands!
“Very kind and took care of my cat and even fish for me while I was gone perfectly! I really appreciated the picture updates as well. Next time I need a pet sitter, I'd definitely go with Maroan!”

About: I’d make an excellent dog sitter because I bring energy, attentiveness, and a genuine love for animals into everything I do. Even without formal experience, I’m highly responsible and quick to learn, which means I’ll carefully follow any instructions to keep each animal happy, healthy, and on their routine. I’m naturally patient and observant, so I can pick up on personality and needs with confidence! Whether that means playful energy, calm companionship, or extra care and reassurance. Most importantly, I truly enjoy spending time with animals, and I would treat every pet like my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and excited while their owner is away! I am currently working part time and going to school part time. I am free most days and want to still remain productive in any way I can. I ensure cleanliness and safety when it comes to being in someone’s home. I love to clean and tidy up whenever I can! As an introvert, I love quietness so noise isn’t something I emit a bunch of.
About: My dad is a veterinarian. Since I was a kid, he taught me how to take care of small, medium, and big animals, like dogs, cats, birds, and even horses. Since I was a kid, I had dogs and I always enjoyed being around them and playing with them. I like to make a connection with my pets and have fun together. For now, I work part-time, which gives me time to spend with puppies and pets, making my days better. My availability depends on my work schedule, but I’m usually free all day on weekends. Weekdays after 6:30 p.m. The most important part for me is making sure that the pets are going to be comfortable around me and feel in a safe environment. Making sure that walks would be safe and play with them.
“Rachel was more than great! I definitely will be booking with her again 😊 I felt 100% comfortable leaving our 3 dogs at home w her coming by to check in & let out, as well as made sure they ate// meds were given - even when one wanted to be lazy couch potato instead of going potty outside for the morning. 10/10 recommend! 🩵🩵🩵”

About: Greetings. I’ve had a best friend who was with me everyday for 15 years. I was with her from the beginning to the end. I am sensitive to the needs of our dogs and always very aware of our surroundings. I’m ultra aware of the cayotes up here and all their tricks. With the new smells and distractions for some dogs that are not from here I always feel safer to keep them on leash during our walks. I live alone in a quiet cabin on a quiet street, no traffic and no neighbors. Big fenced back yard and a small gated front porch. I know all the trails in Sierra track as well as the whole area. I’m very flexible and will take care of all the little things that are needed and the unexpected ones that pop up. I know how stressfull it can be traveling and then leaving your best friend with someone. I will communicate with you and make it easy and stress free. It’s a big adjustment not having my sweet girl Francis. I was so used to waking up and she was there, or coming home and she was sitting in my spot waiting for me. Honestly this is good for me having a dog around. It’s helping with this process I’m going through. I am very flexible and available almost anytime and on short notice if life happens. I know how that goes. I know the trails and areas to go that are safe and fun. Im an early riser, and I enjoy mornings walks when it’s nice and quiet with no traffic or crowds of people. I have no problem with taking the pup with me in the car to run a quick errand or even better a day trip somewhere. Some dogs love car rides with the window down and nose out. And some do not. It’s all optional, absolutely no problems leaving him or her at home while I’m out for a sec. I primarily work from home and would be with him/her almost all the time. My dog Francis was a little attached. Maybe loyal is a better word. I was very lucky with her and didn’t have to worry too much. But I learned to never ever let anything happen to her. Very aware of our environment. Cars, other dogs, cayotes, bees , bodies of water and all weather conditions, hot pavement and even to always avoid the drains/grates in the roads ect. I’m not disactred by my phone or anything else. I’ll only feed what the owner approves.

“Denise is absolutely the best!! She took great care of my animals and went out of her way to make them feel comfortable and happy while I was out of town! She will absolutely be my go-to anytime I need pet care! She took great pictures of them and communicated with me consistently about how they were doing while I was gone. I could not recommend Denise enough!”

About: I’m an experienced pet sitter and have cared for both dogs and cats in my home in Poland. I’m now living in South Lake Tahoe and would be happy to spend time with your dog. The photo shows some of the wonderful animals I’ve had the pleasure of looking after. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. I schedule time before and after work, as well as on weekends, to give pets the attention, exercise, and affection they need. Caring for animals is not just a task—it’s something I genuinely enjoy and make a priority in my week I care for pets with the same attention and love I would give my own. I maintain their routines, respect their boundaries, and create a calm, secure environment. My background in behavioral psychology helps me understand their needs and build trust quickly, ensuring they feel safe and cared for while you’re away
“This was our first time leaving the animals for this long and the regular updates from Sandra made it all so much easier. She came over to meet the animals before we went out of town, and was always communicative and timely when she was coming to sit. Super appreciate it. Will be hoping to book her again!”
“Really accommodating to me in helping with my Pyrenees. She is a very reluctant to getting into the car. We wer a lot get her into the car and I was able to get to her much needed Veterinarian appt”
About: Hi! My name is Madison and I'm a classical singer, mom of 2 dogs, and a health / fitness enthusiast. I live a very active lifestyle, so I can handle and exercise dogs of all sizes and energy levels. I also come with e-collar use experience! I see my own dogs as family members so I can guarantee that I'll treat yours as if they were my adopted children for the time we are together. :) I currently have an extremely flexible schedule with some set hours of work outside of the home, so I can house sit and accommodate odd-hour potty breaks and such. I have a "leave it as you found it" cleanliness and organization motto. This means cleaning up after myself AND the pet, and within my own home I value a clean environment where everyone can enjoy the space.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gardnerville
Im so thankful and grateful that I found such a wonderful, caring, and reliable person to take such great care of my cats. Kristin followed through with everything that I asked for and honestly that’s very hard to find nowadays. My boys are very standoffish and do not warm up to anyone and I got videos of my cats on her lap, purring and happy. That has never happened with the other sitters I’ve had in the past. Kristin treated my babies as if they were her own. If you want the best for your babies while you’re away, this is the person you want to call. Thank you, so much Kristin :)

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
