“I would definitely recommend Samantha! She was very nice, quick to respond, and was flexible with my drop off and pick up times. This was only the second time boarding my 11 month old puppy. I can tell he was taken care of and had a blast with lots of play time from the frequent photo updates and given the amount of time he slept after picking him up. Thank you Samantha!”

“Sydney was wonderful with both my mini schnauzers. She took care of their every need and gave them lots of love. We have rebooked with her for several more dates and will continue to book with her for boarding in her home.”

“It was clear from the first moment after meeting Natalie that she absolutely loves all dogs. She was great with our puppy. It was the first time that we had to board our 5 month old Golden Retriever, Lexie but Natalie made this painless for us and Lexie. She sent daily reports and even videos of Lexie so we could see that she was doing great. Lexie even hated to leave her house. I would highly recommend Natalie to anyone who needs to board their dog.”

“Nancye is absolutely amazing! She loved and spoiled our Josey as if he was her own. I loved that we had the opportunity to have a meet and greet before we took our trip. She took him on walks. He loves car rides and she took him to get ice cream with her getting him a pup cup. It was our 1st time leaving him with someone new and she sent us pictures and updated all along the way. Nancye has such a love for fur babies and it shows. Would definitely recommend her.”

About: I've watched dogs and cats with all different personalities and needs (i.e. blind, diabetic, anxious, etc.). I believe in understanding a pet's needs from the perspective of the pet and responding with compassion. I work full time, but can usually work from home if needed. I will talk with you before we commit to pet sitting to ensure my schedule works for your needs (if that's getting off early, working from home every day during the time of the sitting, going home over lunch for a walk, etc). I have no fur babies (or kids) of my own, so your babies will get my undivided attention and I will shower them with all the love I wish I could give to my own fur baby if I had one. (Know I recognize that love looks different for different critters - for some it may mean keeping a respectful distance!)
“Maribel was the best caregiver. Knowledgeable, always present, sweet, active, she is an animal person with plenty of space and experience. She was flexible with us and very responsive when we reached out a couple of times. She also sent us photos of how our little pup was doing, which was important for my mom who was away from her companion for 10 days. We'll certainly reach out to Maribel if she's available before our next trip. Best experience!”

“Shannon took great care of our Bernedoodle puppy! She was happy to keep our puppy’s usual routine so that the adjustment to a new place for a few days was as easy a possible. Shannon was very easy to communicate with and sent us lots of pictures and updates on how everything was going. Our pup came home very happy and had a great time playing with Shannon’s other dogs. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Linda and David were absolutely wonderful to my Loki. Between the thorough updates and the welcoming environment they provide for their clients, I wasn’t worried at all while we were away.”

“Courtney & Kam were amazing! We had a super informative meet and greet in the beginning. They had my boy over Christmas and I got pictures every day. I could tell how happy he was there. When I picked him up, he was super happy to see me, but I could also tell he was kind of sad to leave them. They went on many hiking adventures and he came back just as clean. Courtney & Kam were super flexible with the time, especially when I had to extend my trip a couple days early. Overall, I would recommend them. I could tell they loved my pup with all their heart!! They were super professional and very kind. I also saw how well kept and nice their home was.”

“Candace was a great sitter! Her parents were helpful as well. Cassie was in good hands and was well taken care of. We were so thankful they accommodated us picking up Cassie after our evening flight.”

“Holly was amazing. She took our pups on short notice and they had a great time together. Several pictures were sent and when we came to pick up the pups they had clearly had a great time. They played their little hearts out.”

“Thank you so much for taking such great care of Maks! It’s clear you truly love animals, and I appreciate your reliability, kindness, and attention to detail. I came home to a happy, relaxed pup—couldn’t ask for better!”

“Kurt kept our two dogs while we were out of the country. He took care of them as if they were his own and they had a great time. We trust him to handle anything that comes up. And he was flexible with our pickup time when we got home later than expected. The dogs love him.”

About: I have been caring for dogs for over 20 years, and had a business running my own daily poochie playgroup and doing home boarding in the Old Town area of Alexandria, VA since 1998. I moved to the Charlottesville area and am missing all my furry friends. Now I am available for walks, home visits and house sitting in your home with my dog Badger<3 I love taking walks and Badger is a great doggie companion for your pooch while you are away! I've also taken care of bunnies, ferrets, horses...you name it I'm a big animal lover! I have even started friends in other areas of the country on their own dog sitting businesses Very successfully, i might add! I would love for your dog to become a part of my pack <3
“Veronica took great care of our dog while we were out of town. It made our trip much more enjoyable knowing our big guy was in good hands. The photos and videos she sent were an added bonus!”

“Absolutely amazing. So great with pick up and drop off and I got lots of pictures of my happy dog. 100% will be using her again and would highly recommend her to anyone else.”

“Mac is very nice and Gemma loved being there and playing with her dog. She sent regular check ups with us and sending pictures. Gemma is actually missing her best friend!!! She is either tired or missing her friend due to she has been sleeping alot. I will definitely bring Gemma back. She has very nice and quite place for any dog to play.”

“Walt kept our boy, Teddi, for four days. Teddi is a 3 yo intact English Shepherd who has never spent a night away from us. Teddi is a very well behaved and friendly boy but we were a bit anxious how this would go. Walt kept us well informed on how Teddi was doing. Walt gave Teddi great care and a lot of attention. When we returned to pick up Teddi, it was obvious that he and Teddy had bonded very well. We are very pleased with the care that Walt provided and will certainly use him again.”

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
