I’m in the process of moving back to Eugene after a long absence, and while house sitting this week, needed someone to watch my dog Everett for a few hours while I ran some errands. It’s been nonstop travel/driving/boxes all summer and was concerned that Ev would be freaked out by yet another change in scenery…but it was instantly clear during the meet and greet that Ruthie’s house, coupled with her training and experience, would make for an excellent home-away-from-home environment. She walked us through her space, asked great questions about Ev’s personality and needs, and left me feeling totally confident that Ev’s visit would go perfectly. And it did— Ev was relaxed and in a great mood when I picked him up, and I got some great pics of his day. I knew he would be in great hands and look forward to bringing him back!”

About: I have my own pets and am definitely the person that gravitates towards the furry critters at social gatherings. I have a lot of experience with dogs and cats and have often been my friends go to petsitter. I have two dogs and a cat, and have had other pets previously. Currently I work full time Monday through Friday, with limited telework flexibility. However, my weekends and schedule can be flexible with notice. I'm your go to for quick weekend (Friday - Sunday) getaways! I love hosting friends and family, and your pets are the same! I make sure they understand their surroundings and have the basic needs met, water, food, bathrooms, AND fun.

“This was my first time leaving my pup with someone new, so naturally I was a little nervous—but they totally put my mind at ease! They were super attentive with my little spoiled brat (and I say that with love 😄). He was always wagging his butt and happy to go back, which says it all. I really appreciated how they noticed he was picky with food—he wouldn’t eat there, but they still checked in and made sure I knew. He had plenty of playtime and always came home happy and tired, which is a win in my book! I didn’t want him going on walks because of his reactivity to cars, and they totally respected that—he got plenty of backyard play instead. Bonus points for being flexible with my chaotic work schedule. Highly recommend! 🐾”

About: Hello, my name is Cassandra and I grew up in Alaska where my chore was to take care of the animals. We had a bunch of huskies we’ve had bulldogs, labs, cats and goats mostly. I have spent most of my life always having pets up until this last December when I lost my best friend of 13 years. Her name was Chewy and passed from congestive heart failure. She had separation anxiety as well as she had to take medication so I am experienced in those behaviors and special needs. I do not have any animals of my own. In Alaska, I started my experience with house and pet sitting for over 10 years. Here in Oregon for the last five years I’ve pet sat for my family. I do not smoke. I do not drink. I have a small place in a great neighborhood with lots of places to walk dogs. I have no children. I have a small fenced backyard. I am the type of person who will let your animal onto my couch or onto my bed unless you have different rules. I understand how important it is for your baby to be on a routine. I enjoy walking and going to the park. I am very responsible and reliable and you can rest assured your pet is in good hands with me. I have the beautiful opportunity of not working at the moment so I am home all the time your fur baby, especially if they have separation anxiety will always have somebody around. I would never leave your animal unattended. I’m a very private person so it’ll just be me spending quality time with your animal in my quiet home I’m hoping that I can make this my permanent job Routine is always important. Not just for humans but for fur babies as well. I will follow your instructions and stay as close to your routine as possible so your fur baby is as comfortable as possible. I have a backyard fenced in. I live in a neighborhood close to parks and lots of sidewalks and green grass. I have no children and a small little quiet place any special instructions I will follow. I do however, like animals to feel like home at my home so I will allow them on my furniture as long as you’re OK with that.

About: I was involved in every step of training and taking care of my childhood dog until she passed away 1 year ago. She was very therapeutic for me and is the reason why I love dogs so much now. I have experience dog and house sitting for neighbors and family friends as well. My dog struggled with anxiety especially when we were gone all day so it is my priority to make sure your pet feels cared for. I love going on walks myself, so I am more than happy to be outside with your dog; I also live by a dog park! If your dog likes runs I am happy to go on a run with them, or if they are older or simply like to chill inside I am also happy to relax with them. I am looking for a fun and flexible job to have for summer while I finish up my final college classes before I return home to Portland. I promise to be caring, comforting, and reliable for your dog while their family is gone. I am currently taking classes online so I am very flexible and available to take care of your pup! Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-4pm is when I am in class but I can do school from anywhere that has Wi-Fi. I have my own car so I can be anywhere at anytime that you need me. My house has a front yard and a big back yard which is fenced and gated all around except for one side that has a wrap around deck to our front balcony that looks over our driveway and neighborhood street. If your dog likes to explore and needs gates then I can create something to block access to the front or I can keep them on leash. I have 4 other roommates who all have taken care of either their own dogs/animals or others' animals in our house as well. Since there are 5 of us our house does have a lot of things out on the tables and in our downstairs area. My own dog was the type that would get into anything left out on the tables/counters when not supervised so I am extra cautious with dogs and especially when there are lots of objects around. Because of this, I am very attentive to the dogs I watch and I am always in the same room as them. While I am in your home, I will strictly follow the directions and rules you give me in regards to general rules of the house, what your dog is allowed/not allowed to do, what they eat/don't eat, what typical routine and behavior is for your dog. In case of an emergency, I can take them to the vet if anything unexpected were to happen and to contact you immediately.
