“My house sitting fell through just a few days before I went on a week-long trip. Ashlie swooped in at the last minute to save the day! Thanks to her flexibility and understanding of my situation, we arranged a meet and greet nearly within 24 hours. She was so easy to work with while I was frazzled with the last minute changes. While I was gone Ashlie sent pictures and responded quickly to questions and requests. I have no doubt Annie was comfortable and happy in her care. She was also very respectful to my space and belongings. I'd recommend Ashlie to anyone needing house sitting services, especially if you need someone with large dog experience.”

“Wow—we absolutely love Christina! From the very first message, her communication was outstanding. She took the time to come over for a meet-and-greet, and our furry family adored her immediately. Christina has such a calm, kind, and friendly presence, and we felt completely at ease welcoming her into our home. The daily photo updates were such a joy to receive and showed our crew happy, relaxed, and comfortably settled in all their favorite spots—exactly what every pet parent hopes for while traveling. Our home was left clean, tidy, and just as we had left it, which we truly appreciated. Christina is a gem, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and truly wonderful pet sitter. We’ve already booked her for another sit! Thank you Christina!”

“Michaelle got our sick dog to eat - a true feat! She sent frequent updates, and I felt very comfortable that she took good care of him. Will definitely go with Michaelle again.”
“Here’s a draft for your review: Hannah is an exceptional pet sitter! Our dog usually takes a while to warm up to new people, but Hannah’s calm and patient demeanor quickly put her at ease. She went above and beyond by providing regular updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. On top of taking great care of our pup, she also helped with our plants, which was a huge bonus. We’ve already booked her for our next trip and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional pet sitter. Thank you, Hannah!”

“Hayley was great with my senior dog and accompanying cat. It was great to get the check-ins while away and have the full confidence that the fur-kids were getting the best care. We'll definitely be looking for a rebook soon!”
“Rachel was amazing. She met with us on short notice and stayed with our dogs. We received messages and pictures. First time using Rover.com, highly recommend, and will definetly use the service again.”

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, and turtles. they were family pets and i learned a lot watching my siblings raise their dogs. i have a 7 year old cat that i've raised since he was a kitten. I have also fostered another cat for a few months. although introducing my cat with the foster was time consuming, it was worth to see them get along. I work part time as a barista. i don't have set days off but i work very early mornings. i am also taking a couple online courses, but i go at my own pace so im flexible with afternoons and evenings. just like with little humans, i make sure cleaning supplies, little choking hazards, and toxic foods are stored high in storage closets where my cat can't get into. i vacuum regularly in case i have dropped small pieces of plastic (that my cat loves more than toys for some reason). i will occasionally pet sit for my sister when she is away on vacation. i don't assume i know her pets better than she does, so i have texted her before about a concern i had about her dog. i fed both her pets at the same time, but one refused to eat. instead of assuming that her dog would eventually eat, i reached out to know if there was anything i could do differently and the solution was a change in environment. i would then feed them in separate rooms and that did the trick. i loved sending her pictures of them unprompted and when asked.
About: As a veterinary student at UC Davis, I have both professional knowledge and a lifelong love of animals. I’ve spent much of my life fostering dogs of all ages, from newborn puppies to seniors, so I’m very comfortable adapting care to each pet’s personality, routine, and needs. One thing that’s especially important to me is the human–animal bond. Our pets are family, and I understand the amount of trust it takes to leave them in someone else’s care. I always strive to treat every animal as if they were my own while also respecting the routines and preferences that make them (and you!) feel most comfortable. I believe strong communication with owners is essential. I strive to provide consistent updates, photos, and messages so you always know how your pet is doing while you’re away. My goal is to give you and your pet peace of mind, ensuring your pet feels loved and well cared for and that you feel confident they are in knowledgeable, attentive hands. Through my veterinary training and extensive hands-on experience, I’m also comfortable administering medications and monitoring pets for any health concerns, especially for senior pets or those who need a little extra care. As a veterinary student at UC Davis, my schedule is decently structured, which makes it easy for me to plan dedicated time for pet care. Throughout the week, I’m able to schedule visits, walks, and check-ins, depending on what is needed, around my classes and studying. I always ensure that every animal gets the attention that they need, rather than rushing it. Caring for animals is already a big part of my daily life and future career, so spending time with pets fits very naturally into my routine. I prioritize reliability and consistency, and I always plan my schedule carefully so I can provide dependable care and clear communication with owners. I believe it is important to provide updates on when I visit and how your pet is doing! Whether it’s regular visits, walks, or check-ins while you’re away, I make sure each pet gets attentive, thoughtful care and that owners receive consistent updates. I always prioritize safety for your animal, but also ensuring that they have a comfortable environment that is the least disrupted when you're gone. I am very attentive to detail to the needs of your pets and ensure that all requests get done!

About: Hi! I'm Susi, and my goal is to make your time away as stress free as possible, for both you and your pets. My experience comes from being a lifelong dog owner and understanding firsthand how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else's care. I know that every dog has their own routine, comfort level, and quirks that make them who they are. That’s why I focus on providing personalized care for one family at a time, creating a calm and comfortable environment where your pet can feel safe and loved. I know how important trust is when leaving your pet with someone new, so I'll keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages, giving you peace of mind while you're away. I'll follow your instructions carefully, from feeding schedules and medications to favorite toys and bedtime routines, so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. When your pet stays with me, they'll receive the same love, patience, and care I'd want for my own family. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine, and I’ve structured my schedule so every pet in my care receives consistent attention, companionship, and supervision. I’m home everyday of the week and have plenty of time for walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, and maintaining your pet’s normal routine. I attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm and 6pm-9pm, but someone is always home, so your pet will never be left alone for long periods. Because I only care for one family’s pets at a time, I’m able to give them focused, personalized care instead of dividing my attention between multiple bookings. My goal is to keep their routine as familiar and stress free as possible so they feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. In my home, I provide a calm, comfortable environment where pets can settle in and feel like part of the family. I have a large, fully fenced yard for supervised potty breaks, playtime, and outdoor enrichment, along with a quiet dog park just a few blocks away that is usually empty. I only use the park when it is appropriate for the individual dog and with the owner’s permission. I also have a dog (Jayda) of my own who is friendly, calm, and respectful of other dogs’ boundaries. I always prioritize safe introductions and closely monitor interactions so every pet feels comfortable. If a visiting dog is not comfortable around other dogs, my home has separate rooms and spaces where pets can be safely kept apart whenever necessary. Their comfort and safety always come first. Because I care for one family at a time, I can give each pet personalized attention and follow their usual feeding, walking, medication, playtime, and bedtime routines as closely as possible. For care in a client’s home, I respect both the pet’s routine and the home itself. During drop-ins or house sitting, I provide fresh food and water, potty breaks, litter box or yard cleanup, medication when needed, playtime, affection, and any other care instructions provided. For walks, I focus on safety, exercise, and letting each dog move at a pace that suits their age, energy level, and comfort. No matter the service, I send regular photo and message updates so owners can feel confident knowing their pet is safe, comfortable, and receiving attentive care.
About: Hi fellow dog lovers! I am a veterinary assistant for Banfield Pet Hospital looking to take care of your pet in my free time! Ever since moving away from home I have missed the companionship of a great dog and dog sitting is the perfect gig! I have 12+ years experience taking care of dogs and cats and it remains my passion till this day. Qualified to care for pets with all kinds of medical/special needs . I cant wait to meet your furry family member! I recently graduated so I have much more free time for pet care. If I’m working I will be busy from 7am-6pm but happy to do walks/feedings/check-ins on my lunch and before and after my shift. Otherwise on my day offs I am pretty open, working on applications for vet school and crafting or going for a jog. I cannot currently host for boarding at my home, however I have a lot of experience pet sitting at clients homes. I can work with anyone’s preferences, be that only going in for feedings/walks or being a homebody for most of the day for prolonged company. I am very neat and respectful of other people’s spaces and work my best to keep your pet comfortable while you’re away.
“Natalie beat my expectations! She was extremely attentive of the dogs in every way. My house looked better than when I left it and the dogs were very sad to see her go. I will certainly be using her services again and I wish I used her in the past. I’m recommending her to all the pet owners in my family because she made house sitting feel truly seamless. She even watered my plants and picked up after my dogs which were things I told her she didn’t have to do! Thank you so much!”

“Mya took great care of our dog and house while we were away for a long weekend! She sent updates and pictures daily and it was very easy to communicate with her both before and during the stay. Highly recommended!”

“We’re so grateful for Analisa. She agreed to watch our boys at the very last minute and was excellent in communicating with us her entire stay. We will definitely be using her for our future needs.”

“Waymon was great! He house sat and took care of of my kitty Freya for quite a long stay. Freya clearly loved him! He send lots of photo updates and everything went smoothly! Thank you Waymon!”

About: I have cared for a wide range of animals since my childhood on a small family farm. I have bottle fed kittens to goats, trained puppies to ducks, and cared for little piglets to senior dogs. I also have some experience with medical procedures with dogs and cats, to farm animals. Experience with cats with diabetes, pets with blindness, deafness, and immobility. I enjoy caring for animals of all shapes and sizes and good care and enrichment is always my top priority! I like to check on my animals and animals I’m caring for a minimum of 3 times a day for 30 minutes each. With cats I like to spend time playing, setting up enrichment activities, and learning how they are most comfortable. With dogs I like to do a minimum of 3 walks a day followed by some of their favorite activities. I believe pets should be checked on morning, afternoon and evening at minimum. I like to follow the routine of the pets parents to a T so as to not disturb the pets while their families are gone. I think having a routine is important for a pet especially when their people/family are gone.
“Chrissy accepted our booking the day before and we were extremely grateful. She asked questions ensuring she had the proper instructions to care for Stark. We received updates & pictures throughout the care. She was very flexible with our schedules. We’ll definitely be booking again in the future!”

“Our first time using Ryan since moving to the area and he was fantastic! Gave us daily updates on our dogs and the house was spotless when we got home. Our boys can be a lot so finding a good sitter is hard but we would definitely use him again!!”

“Esmerilda is a fantastic. She made sure she knew our needs and our lab's routine before we left -- and kept us updated throughout our trip. Our very active dog was thrilled to have Esmerilda take care of her, and we look forward to having her help us again in the future. Highest recommendations!”

About: My name is Destiny and I grew up caring for large and small dogs and cats. I have hands-on experience raising puppies and kittens from birth through adulthood. As an adult, I continue to care for both cats and dogs, including adopted shelter cats and my own Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle. Both of my dogs are neutered, gentle and affectionate. My Standard Poodle loves to run and play and can be wonderfully bouncy, but he's also surprisingly nurturing and likes to make sure everyone is okay. My Labrador is basically Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh—a lovely potato who is particularly drawn to wee, scrappy dogs. I actively study canine behavior and learning. I train and participate in dog sports including obedience, scent work/nose work, agility, Barn Hunt and NASDA. I'm comfortable observing canine body language, following established training and management routines, providing enrichment, and adapting my approach to the individual dog. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy getting to know animals as individuals. I don't expect every dog or cat to immediately love me, and I don't force interaction. I believe comprehensive care starts with paying attention to what makes an animal feel safe, comfortable and understood. I work from home with a flexible schedule and control over my own hours, which gives me plenty of time to incorporate walks, play, enrichment, meals, potty breaks and companionship throughout the day. Our household is unusually quiet and relaxed. There are no children in the home, and my neighborhood is a peaceful residential area that's well suited to walks and downtime. Pets staying with me have opportunities for activity and engagement, but also plenty of time and space to settle, nap and simply relax. Because I'm home much of the day, pet care fits naturally into my routine rather than having to be squeezed in around a long commute or rigid work schedule. I believe pet care starts with understanding the *individual* animal. I take time to learn each pet's normal routine, temperament, preferences, training cues, feeding needs and anything that may make them uncomfortable or stressed. My approach is calm, patient and attentive. I don't force interactions, and I pay close attention to body language and changes in behavior. I follow owners' established routines and management instructions carefully because consistency can make being away from home much easier for a pet. My home is clean, quiet, child-free and low-stress, in a peaceful residential neighborhood. I want visiting pets to have a comfortable place where they can play and engage when they want to, but can also settle and rest without constant activity, noise or disruption. When caring for pets in their own homes, I bring the same approach: respect the animal's familiar environment, follow the household's routines carefully, communicate reliably with the owner, and leave things exactly as I found them.

About: Some people innately connect with animals. Maybe this cannot be taught or learned. Even those animals who "don't like anyone" like me. It's a gift. Perhaps they can tell I'm a gentle giant and it makes them feel safe and protected. Whether cat or dog or some other creatures, I will lavish affection and attention on them (if they're into that). Or simply let them call the shots until they're ready to warm up a bit more. As a large, fit dude, I can manage even the strongest dogs, but I'm nimble and delicate with the smaller ones and cats. It comes naturally, and your pets will sense it. Summertime affords more flexibility for me as a teacher. I do have another PT gig currently on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the afternoons. But I'm mostly available the other 5 days for now, and am willing to spend time with your pets before and after shifts on days I work. For many years, I've cared for dozens of friends' pets. Long before Rover existed, I was a resident car provider in my community. Everyone knows I am reliable, professional, responsive, and flexible. Clean, sober, non-smoker.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,791 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Esparto. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Esparto walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Esparto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Esparto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Esparto. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
